"Softly he brushed my cheek, then held my face between his marble hands. 'Be very still,' he whispered, as if I wasn't already frozen. Slowly, never moving his eyes from mine, he leaned toward me. Then abruptly, but very gently, he rested his cold cheek against the hollow at the base of my throat." Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best book I have ever read!!!
You have found the love of your life. The catch? He's a vampire, thirsting for your blood. When Bella moves from sunny Phoenix to dreary forks, her mood is anything but happy. Then she meets Edward Cullen. He's not one of those coffin-sleeping, afraid of onions, sucking you dry type of vampire. He and his family are more civilized, preying on wild animals. Their family is different, having abilities such as reading people's minds (Edward's ability) and seeing the future (Alice's ability). They fall in love. Everything is wonderful until they invite Bella to play baseball, vampire-style. A nomad band of vampires hears them and wants to join. Once they realize that Bella is human, they want her blood. While Edward, his brother Emmett and his sister Rosalie, along with his mother Esme and his father Carlisle try to hunt the band of vampires, Alice, Edward's sister, and Jasper, Edward's brother, take Bella to Phoenix to get the band off her scent. While in Phoenix, Edward calls them to tell them that the band was lost, but Bella already knows that, the leader called her and told her that he had her mother and was going to kill her if she did not come. She runs away, and meets him at her mom's house. He tells her that he tricked her and that he did not have her mom. He starts to kill her, and he knocks her out in the process. She wakes up in Edward's arms, bleeding all over the place. He, the leader, broke her leg, smashed open her skull, and bit her. Edward has to suck out the poison, and saves her life. When she wakes up, she is in the hospital, with a very well thought out story about her injuries, with her mother by her side. When she recovers, Edward's family and Bella go home, just in time for the prom. Edward takes Bella, against her will, and Bella asks Edward why didn't he just let the poison take place, then they could be together forever. Edward pushes that thought out of her mind and together they dance, with that thought that they can really never be together. This book is so good; I recommend it to every one. This is my new favorite book, it is that good.
5-0 out of 5 stars Move over Heathcliff and Cathy-Bella and Edward are here to stay
Meyer was not joking when she said she loved Edward Cullen, the main character of her debut novel, "Twilight" at the National Book Fest. Not joking, because every word she's written about him has single-handedly gone to create the perfect angst-ridden, marble shrouded vampire teen; that at 17 was "turned" on his deathbed during the Spanish influenza pandemic.
5-0 out of 5 stars Simple and Wonderful... A Delight to Read
Even though this book has a simple plot, and repeats the themes of many, many other works, it somehow hits an important romantic chord. I was thrilled to read a book where Vampires have dignity and a conscience (expecially after reading one of Laurell K. Hamilton's sordid novels) and even though, as a young adult novel, it was sweet and innocent it was still beautiful. Definately worth the time, and I would love to see more books from this author - maybe even venturing into the adult section at some point. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars fantastic teen read
I never knew that this book was by a ghostwriter.I loved it even though it was alittle crazy with the whole blair and nate and I wanna be bonnie and clyde thing.
2-0 out of 5 stars Desperate, sucky, bad plot, and desperate is the recipie for the worst Gossip Girl book.
I was VERY dissapointed in this Gossip Girl book. It made me mad when I read the previous reveiws on the last book, saying that she had a ghost writer. Why I was mad, I have no idea. But, while first reading this book I was looking for hints that Cicly did not write this.
3-0 out of 5 stars Here's the Wierd Thing
I've been reading the GG series since book 3 came out, and well, I hate all the characters, and their choices, but can't seem to stay away. It's just because the books are exceptionally well written for what is basically trash fiction.

5-0 out of 5 stars He WILL read this book.... but you should too
There's definitely no tip-toeing around in this book, which is exactly why boys will actually read it.Although I was a little shocked by the authors' candor at times, I also recognize the only way to really get through to adolescent boys is on their playing field.
5-0 out of 5 stars Wish I Had this Growing Up...Every 13 year old Boy Needs this Book.
I purchased this book for my friends son who is 13 years old and before giving it to her I read through it myself. All of the information is very important (12+ years old) and can help educate young boys to make decisions based on knowledge they obtained before there is a problem rather than after, like what I went through when I was growing up and I'm sure countless others have that did not have the benefit and knowledge in this book.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good info, a little too advanced
The first third of this book contained good information for my 11-year-old son.It explains what happens to a boy's body in a way he was able to understand. The remainder of the book also has good information, but the topics of intercourse and STDs were more than my son was ready for. ... Dial L for Loser
5-0 out of 5 stars A Good/Bad Start to the Year
Starting a completely new school isn't always easy, especially in Claire Lyon's case. Claire and her family moved from Orlando, Florida to Westchester, New York. Claire's Father is best friends with William Block, Father of Massie Block (Claire's age). The Lyon's family (Consisting of Claire's 10 year old brother Todd, Mom, and Dad) is staying in Massie's guest house in the back yard of the Block's estate. Massie does not take a liking to Claire when they first meet, and it doesn't get better. After a hard first day of school, filled with NO FRIENDS, Claire thinks of ways to get back at Massie for all the pranks she pulled on her during the day. One day while Massie, her dog, and her Dad are out on their nightly walk, Claire sneaks in and gets on Massie's computer. There she turns Massie's three best friends Dylan, Kristen, and Alicia against her. Unfortunately, during an argument with Kristen one day, Massie discovers that Claire was responsible for the feuds. At the long awaited school fundraiser auction for the girl's school, Massie and Claire's Dad take the stage for a round of "Ninety Nine Bottles of Beer on the Wall." They were both drunk, and were planning on singing until $1000 more was collected for the school. It was bearable until they called for their family to come up. Massie and Claire ran out of the tent, and hid in the bushes right next to each other. For two hours, the two exchanged jokes, embarrassing moments, and stories. Afterwards, Massie even said she had fun! The war was over; at least until next week.....This is a fantastic book that all middle school girls would love.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Clique
Wouldn't it be great to be the most popular girl in school? In Lisi Harrison's book, The Clique, that's what life is all about. This is a great book filled with drama that will hold a middle school girl's attention forever. The Clique is about a group of four girls, who rule the school called the Pretty Committee. When Claire, the new girl, comes to Westchester from Orlando, she stays in the guest house of Massie Block, the leader of the Pretty Committee, it's a whole different world. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Good, but drags your mind through the gutter
While containing helpful strategies and ideas, unfortunately the writers drag your mind through the gutter as they graphically discuss accounts of sexual discovery. One teenager I disciple recently told me this book actually caused him to stumble more, since it put new ideas in his mind! Parents and youth leaders should carefully screen this book because it can do more do more harm than good for certain teens.
5-0 out of 5 stars We're All In This Together... Be The Change, Make The Difference, Influence The World...
This book is more than a self-help guide, a "for dummies", a book for better living, but a book towards better life, through God. It doesn't sugar coat or beat around the bush, it gives practical advice on what it means to be a man, and how our daughters, or lady friends, our girlfriends, should be treated. What is purity? How do you define purity, the world today, constantly changing and defining human behaviour, what line do you draw as a standard? This book lets you discover what it means to be a man and how to act purely through God. I strongly recommend it to any young man. It will change your life.
2-0 out of 5 stars Good intentions but misguided...
A good friend of mine gave me this book in order to destroy my inner demons, namely, lust. I was a willing candidate, being part of the church circle, bible studies, and accountability groups; I wanted to eliminate this evil within me before I was sentenced... to hell! This book offered many examples of how to train your mind away from thinking about sex, all of which fail miserably. Luckily, I have come to my senses at least partially on life, lust, and sex, the human condition, and the futility of fighting with human nature. This book is concerned with abstention, not understanding, and understanding is what you really need. Let me give you an even better strategy, and know that these sparse lines offer you more aid than this entire book:

5-0 out of 5 stars Loving this series.....
I wasn't going to get this title for my nine year old.I thought she was too young. But she REALLY wanted it, telling me, "Mom, I've had tons of crushes already!"I bought it and read it first. While I still think she's a little young for some of the information (especially the "going together" section toward the end), a lot of it was very age appropriate.Rather than just give it to her, we are reading it together.(Thankfully I have a very open and trusting daughter who doesn't get embarrassed by "growing up" issues.)I explained to her that reading about these things does not give her permission to do them.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excuse Me
Ummm to the lady who said not to buy this I have a question for you; why do u care how its worded? This is a book for girls to be comfortable with, not something from a psychology book! consider that! and your knitpicking! U must have no life to complain about wording. Anyway the book is awesome! It helped my daughter become comfortable enough to talk to me about her crushes! She is totally ready!~

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't Give This to Your Kids
This is a poorly worded and confusing book. This is a good way to get them to be shallow, dumb them down, get them into hellish relationships, and send them running to therapists who themselves need therapy. Giving this to them as a gift is also a good way to insult their intelligence.

3-0 out of 5 stars The Various Elements
While I must agree with some of the other people here who said that the main plotline of whether Sam and David were going to have sex or not was boring, there was more to the book than just that.In particular, I had a soft spot for Harold and Lucy's budding relationship, as well as the plotline of Sam's job at the video store. Also interesting to me was the 'slut' plotline, since I have personally witnessed such hypocritical behaviour at my own high school. While the end scene of everybody calling themselves sluts was a bit unbelieveable I must admit that I did give an inner scream of joy when Harold went up to join the girls.

1-0 out of 5 stars Sleazy and Petty
This installation of the Gossip Girl series is just as shallow and superficial as all its predecessors are. The entire plot revolves around getting high, having sex, smoking, and guzzling down alcohol. The whole series is pure trash from beginning to end.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the others
I agree with what some of the other people are saying this book is no where near as good as the other books, it seems as if ever since the kids graduated the author has run out of ideas. And those reviewers who are complaining about how this book isn't apporiate for younger readers, shoud know this book is for ages 16 and up and every 16 year old has heard or used the "f" word at least once in their lives.Yes there is a lot of sex, drugs, and bad language but that's a part of the real world. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars I loved it!
I loved this book; it went in really deep and certainly described everything very well. I got addicted to it, and, though, at the very first pages it may seem boring, it kicks into high gear very quickly. Though I may not as old as the book recommendedmeto be, I understood it perfectly well. This is a definite book choice to read.

2-0 out of 5 stars Totally Not Real
It about rich kids doing whatever they want like sex and durgs. I doubt such a family would allow their kids to go around do things like that. Trust me, it's not worth it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Corruption of Adolescent's Minds
I will always read book reviews over the internet before buying any book again. I don't even want to explain what's in the book because it is completely worthless. I did not have any clue that this book was not intended for a 25-year-old lady. I really thought that this book was a story about the awful consequences of gossip on society, for instance, or a story about a girl who gets caught by her own evil actions after gossiping and spreading rumors around. I did not imagine that it was written in such an inappropriate way to support gossip and other immoral behaviors. Besides it's pointless and disrespectful, since it's supporting something that is totally not innocent. Defiantly, I would not recommend this book for young girls nor for 18 and up, because it does not have any useful bit of information. If people keep reading these kinds of books that corrupt young girls' minds, damages their intellectuality, people will ruin the world. Gossip girl will not help you be clever, impressive, genuine, or popular. Invest your time in a much constructive reads. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Alternative Route to Men's Souls
Although the objective of reaching through to men's souls without the deception of artificial courtship to produce mere sexual access is admirable, there is a danger that women will be led to imagine that sexual independence of women may be acceptable to men.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Resource
Twenty-two year old recent college graduate Amber Madison has penned a non-fiction book about sex & sexuality that puts it on the line for young girls (and their parents). Nothing is off limits in Hooking Up-A Girls All-Out Guide to Sex and Sexuality (Prometheus Books). Amber starts with the basics (like describing the various sexual organs), and gets down to the details that some people may be apprehensive to ask about in conversation. From vaginal discharges, yeast infections, sexually transmitted diseases to pregnancy it's all here.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great resource for teens -- and their parents!
With the media bombardment of sex in our culture, reality and media imagery are often world's apart. This book is a chatty, enlightening window into the lexicon and concerns surrounding young people's sexuality today. Its also a great conversation starter with any teen.:-) ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Profound, but profane
Looking for Alaska is a page turner. Did Alaska commit suicide or was her death a tragic accident? Why did she become so upset and drive off drunk in the middle of the night? The biggest question of all was Alaska's: "How will we ever get out of this labyrinth of suffering?" Pudge's answer to this question in his essay at the end of the book is profoundly true. For its mystery and truth, I loved this book.
4-0 out of 5 stars Meaningful Book.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Teenage Guy's Survival Guide
This book is about dating, dumping and being dumped also how to deal with it. It is about puberty changes and how to deal with them and what to do. This book is about all you need to know to be a teenager. My favorite part of the book was the part the author talked about dating. This part of thee book informed me about how to approach a girl and how not to approach a girl. It also told me never to send a friend to ask someone out for you. It told me how to act when you dump someone or if you get dumped. It told me how to act on a date and what to do and what not to do. It also said what to do on a date and what not do on a date. This part of the book told me that a little cologne goes a long way so don't over does. I recommend this book because it was a great help. Now I know how to approach a girl the right way. I know how to have a good date and what to do on a date. Another reason I recommend this book is because I know how everything works puberty wise and that it happens to everybody. The last reason I recommend this book is because it tells you everything you need to know about being a teenager.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!
I'm a thirteen year old boy and I reserved this book at the library to read some time ago. I found it answers a lot of questions about growing up and puberty, although the part about sex was pretty short.
5-0 out of 5 stars More! More! More!
I am a boy at age 12, and when i read this book i was amazed. I learned a lot. The stuff you cant talk about with your parents is in here. The truth is embarassing, but i loved it. The book is really funny, too. This book covers everything from your first date to masturbation. Not too much about sex, only one page. I reccomend this book for 11-16 year olds.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good primer for younger teenagers.
This is a primer for younger teenagers. It is well written, although it needs to be updated in 2006. It is a textbook more than a think piece. It is a good starter book for parents and younger teenagers.

1-0 out of 5 stars Changing Bodies out of date
I was very disapointed with the book. Expanded third edition was deceiving because I thought it was new - my oversight. The book is out of date - I oversee a Center that teaches sex education and this was not helpful.

5-0 out of 5 stars Blah!!!
You're the one that I want, by Cecily von Ziegesar, is about preppy, rich kids who get to do whatever they want. They are very high class and are always talking about someone else. In this book, they are waiting for their college acceptance letters to come back and see which colleges they were accepted to. They are always complaining about something. They buy whatever they want and are always worried about what others will think of them. They try and find comfort in objects and or boys to calm their nerves while waiting for the letters. They won't be happy until they get their letters and get into all of the colleges that they applied to. Although this book is about a lot of wealthy and some what snobby teenagers, I really enjoy reading it. It's very interesting and funny to read. I think that some of the situations that they go through can relate to what I go through. They're teens in this book and regardless of how rich or poor you are, all teens go through some of the same situations. It's just funny to see how they would handle the different situations thrown at them. I think ultimately it's a good book because you can escape from reality while you're reading it. I can imagine the stress that they're going through while waiting for their letters so it's just interesting to read about it. It's funny because you don't think these types of things can actually take place so I enjoyed reading it. I've actually read a lot of the novels from the Gossip Girl series and they're all interesting, dramatic, and fun to read as well as hard to put down.
