5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!!!
This book is continuation of Tears of a Tiger. Keisha was Andy's girlfriend and now left with rest of her friends Ronda, Tyrone, BJ, Gerald, and Leon to survive without out their two friends Andy and Rob, who both died. Now in her senior year Keisha is selected class president and is having the best year. The principal's 23-year-old son is the new track coach and he has his eye on Keisha. Slowly Keisha begins to find comfort in 23-year-old Jonathan and starts going out with him. Soon the relationship takes a wrong turns when Jonathan takes Keisha to his apartment and tries to rape and kill her with his jack knife.
5-0 out of 5 stars Painfully Wonderful
There is pain in this book that you hope no one goes through. It follows Keisha after the death of her boyfriend, which is one thing she could've done without and then the near-rape she encounters. (Read TEARS OF A TIGER first.)
5-0 out of 5 stars Christian's Review
In the book a girl named Keisha has just lost her boyfriend. Andy killed himself because he and his best friends Rob, Tyrone, and B.J were in a car accident. Rob was the only one that didn't make it out of the car and he burned to death. Andy felt that it was his fault so he walked around with all this on his shoulders until he killed himself. Keisha had just broken up with Andy because of all his problems. That summer Keisha took Andy's little brother with her to the cookout. The cookout was something that the high school does every year and the students come and bring their little brothers and sisters. This summer, Keisha saw a guy that she thought was hot, so the summer passed and the new school year came. When she saw him, she acted as if she hadn't noticed him, but she did and she really liked him. At the same time, Leon liked her but she really had not paid any attion to that until one day she gave him a ride home and his dad started to say all this embracing stuff. So the conflict is she has to choose a boy (Leon) or a man (Jonathan).

4-0 out of 5 stars A Comprehensive Look at Adolescent Culture
This book presents a comprehensive view of adolescent psychology. In the first half of the book the author, F. Philip Rice, includes a chapter describing such common adolescent tehories as those of Piaget and Erikson, and presents the strengths and weaknesses of each theory. He also devotesa chapter to adolescent physical development. From reading the first fewchapters, it seems like a standard college textbook. What sets this bookapart from many textbooks dealing with this subject, however, is its focuson diversity issues and adolescent culture.Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Hard to read
This book is very hard to read. There are citations throughout the text, and the information is not divided into many sections. The text is small, there are no graphics, key words or chapter summaries. Its a lot of valuable infomation, if you can keep your eyes open long enough to read it.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent, but advanced text
I use this text for my graduate class in child behavior disorders. I also used the first edition. In terms of level, it falls at the very top of the spectrum. It is by far the most complete and rigorously empirical text available.Discussion is sophisticated and thorough. In fact, it is almost possible to use this text without primary source supplements.

4-0 out of 5 stars Tex
The title of my book is Tex. The author of this book is S.E. Hinton. This is a realistic fiction book with some action. The theme of this book is to be thankful for what you have and to live with the life you were given. The setting is a small town in U.S. the protagonist is a 15 year old boy named Tex; he can be very stubborn and not think about what he's doing. The antagonist is life and all the challenges that come with it. The conflict is Tex and his older brother Mason are waiting for their Pop to come home, and they're having a lot of trouble managing by them selves. They are really poor and dealing with financial problems and Tex gets in lots of trouble so Mason has to be like the father and Tex doesn't like it.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Truth about Forever
This book gets your attention with the excellent topic about the love. Sarah Dessen sets the lonely mood that is in the first part of this book. With the surprising ending of romance. The sad period were you think that your controlling boyfriend deservers your respect. That just because he is perfect in other people eyes doesn't mean a thing. Sarah Dessen shows that that you don't have to change for any one even if you love him a lot. Any ways there always that special person that will like you with your imperfections even if you think that they are so many to deal with. That will not make any difference to the special person. Sarah Dessen shows though this book that you will not see or feel that person that will change your life and he or she is right in front of you. There is a plot twisted that Dessen puts in this book confuses you about the end. True love always over comes very thing in life even the things that is thrown in your way. This book can relate to the readers that believe in love or the ones that wish that there was the feel that is called love. I recommend this book to all people that are romantics.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the most meaningful books
This book has touched my life. I will probably always remember this book and Macy's story. Deeply touching and well written. Couldn't put it down. I recommend this story to everyone, read this book, it will change your life.

Donald Zinkoff is one of the greatest kids you could ever hope to meet.He laughs easily, he likes people, he loves school, he tries to rescue lostgirls in blizzards, he talks to old ladies. The only problem is, he's a loser.Until fourth grade, Zinkoff's uncontrollable giggling in class, sloppyhandwriting, horrible flute playing, bad grades, clumsiness, and ineptitude atsports go largely unnoticed. When he blows a race for his team, however, histransition to loserdom is complete: "[Loser] is the word. It is Zinkoff's newname. It is not in the roll book." Fortunately, he doesn't really notice. 4-0 out of 5 stars One of the best books i've ever read!!
In this book there is a boy named Donald Zinkoff. He has just now started the first grade. He is not fitting in very well he does everything that he is told to do by the teacher and he is always getting picked on and teased so school was not his favorite part of the day. He has a big problem where he has no friends and is not fitting in he is being made fun of and teased very much. I think that his book is a good book and i recomend that you should read it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Loser
The title of my book is Loser by Jerry Spinelli. The genre of this book is realistic fiction. The theme is to not bully. This book addresses bullying in a new way for me. I have always known that bullying someone can really hurt their self esteem, but Zinkoff was unaware of his treatment. Sometimes Zinkoff knew that other kids thought he was weird but it didn't ruin his life. He is more interested in the Nine Hundred Block of Willow. This street is where he met Claudia, a little girl who wears a leash. This street is also where the waiting Man lives. He sits and just waits for his brother to come back from the war that was 35 years ago. Jerry Spinelli has also written the book Stargirl in addition to Loser. These books are similar. Both main characters are the outcasts. Zinkoff is the main character of Loser. He has a sister named Polly. His best friend in 2nd grade was Andrew. Then, when Andrew moved, Zinkoff asked Hector to be his new best friend. They were only friends for a little bit. Hector just never answered the phone when Zinkoff called and never wanted to play. Their relationship was over pretty fast. Hobin was also a character in this book. He told Zinkoff he wasn't good at anything and this was the 1st time everyone, including Zinkoff, realized that he was a loser. The main conflict in the story was that Zinkoff needed to be accepted, not for himself or his self esteem, but to prove to others that he is just the same as they are. Zinkoff is naturally bad at everything. He never wins anything. He had only ever received one A in his life, and when he did all his classmates called him "Z man" the whole day. He then realized that they were blowing it way out of proportion and mocking him. His team also lost on field day because Zinkoff was the last person to finish the race in the relay and came in last. All these little things Zinkoff did made the conflict so much worse. The climax is when Zinkoff goes to middle school and isn't just a loser He is a nobody. No one even thought he was worth making fun of any more. I can't tell you the rest, but I can say it's worth reading to the end. I completely recommend this book. It gave me a better understanding of the best and right way to handle bullies. I give it 4 out of 5 stars!

4-0 out of 5 stars Loser
Loser, by Jerry Spinelli is a fun filled fiction book about a boy who may be strange but makes a huge difference.

4-0 out of 5 stars The -List
Anna Percy is sick of following the "good girl" handbook. She is bored with her perfect grades and perfect prep school life. She would rather do something spontaneous and dangerous with her time. So she jets off to LA to her super rich dads house. On the plane she will meet Ben, from Princeton, who she just might love and in the next twenty-four hours she will go to an Oscar winners wedding, go to two parties, do something she just might regret and meet the Beverly hills a-list, Cammie, Dee, and Sam. The A-List are the rudest people in the world but there will be a surprise with their backgrounds and her present. She got on their bad side as soon as she stepped onto the plane and met Ben. But that is what she wanted isn't it, a crazy life with many imperfections and not to be liked by everyone. Maybe she doesn't want it after all.
3-0 out of 5 stars Not on my A-list
I read this after the Gossip Girl series, and after I finished reading the A-list, I didn't find it as biting as Gossip Girl. It didn't pull me in like I had expected it to. the A-list is a good book, it's fun and sexy, but the characters aren't as interesting. I wasn't crazy how they were all fighting over the same boy, I was sort of hoping it would be like Gossip Girl where they all have different stories going on at the same time. But whenever the book moved on to a different character, they were all thinking about the boy they liked. So it is a pretty good book, but i'm still deciding whether to move on in the series

4-0 out of 5 stars What a good book!
When you see the title, The A-List, and a picture of a girl in a bikini on the cover, you may think: oh no, not another Mean Girls wannabee. However, the book, in the end, has a touching ending. The story is about a girl, and she is traveling to LA to visit her dad. When she gets there, she meets the boy of her dreams, and three mean girls who are determined to stop her. The girl learns a lot about herself and her family as they all go through traumatic incidences. I gave this book 4 stars because I feel that Zoey Dean has perhaps recycled a little of her plot from other stories. But, she does a very good job with the rest of story, giving it an ending that makes the story worthwhile. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic!
I LOOOOOVE the gossip girl series! They are one of my favorite series out there. I actually have all of them and like them all. This is my favorite of them just because. They leave you at the end with so much suspense and it makes you want to go out and purchase #9. And that's just what I did! The BEST book EVER!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars PARENTS BEWARE!!!!
Parents BEWARE!!!The author uses very strong profanity throughout her "trashy" (my opinion) books.Do we really want our young teens or even young adults reading stuff that is littered with the grand-daddy of all cuss words?I sure hope not, I'd like to think that we still have good morals and values to pass along to the next generation.Check it out for yourself...she uses "f" like it is nothing at all throughout the whole book.Go check it out at any bookstore!I have had her books removed from our school library as well as our local public library.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nothing Can Keep us Together
Another fantastic novel by Cecily! I loved this book. I read til 1:00 every night because I just couldn't put it down! This was definitely one of my favorites because throughout (basicly) the whole book, Serena and Nate were together. Although they're not my favorite couple, it's much better than just having Nate put with some random girl. Truthfully, I would have loved to see more of Blair-less of Serena. I just like Blair the best. I'm actually going to be quite relieved if Jenny isn't in the books anymore. I'm not HER biggest fan! But I really did like this book. Except, the kiss at the end was kind of uncalled for... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars gossip girl series
I have read all of the gossip girl books up to "your the one that i want,"in the past week. I cannot keep myslef out of those books.I just bought the next one "nobody does it better" yesterday and already almost done with it.When is the series going to end? I have already read the it girl, notorius, andreckless, they were very good books as well.
5-0 out of 5 stars i'm addicted to these books!
The books are great. I read through them really fast because they were so good i just couldn't put them down.I had to find out what was gonna happen next. I would highly suggest reading them. There however is some swearing and talk about sex, drugs, and alcohol though but i cant imagine what the books would be like without it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good for light reading
These books are great for light reading- nothing serious, but just to take your mind off of all your homework, sort of reading. They're fun, and I find most teenage girls can relate to the bouncy, glamourous and impossibly rich characters' feelings. However, girls should recognize that many of the issues talked about in this book- sex, eating disorders, academics- are much more serious than these books make them sound. When reading these books, be sure to keep in mind that this is far from reality- only a fun escape from some of the more mundane activities in real life. Similar books I'd recommend are Bergdorf Blondes, Georgia Nicolson series, and Sisterhood of the Traveling pants. ... Read more

From third grade through his senior year of high school, Colin Singleton, child prodigy, has dated nineteen girls. All of them have been named Katherine (anagrammed in the rake; ie, her tank), and all of them have dumped him.Not for the same reasons, and not in the same way.Katherine XVIII dumped him in an email, for example. And K-19 dumped him immediately after graduation. Now, faced with a Katherine-less summer, Colin and his best friend, Hassan, decide to take a road trip. They are short-stopped in Gutshot, Tennessee, home to Archduke Franz Ferdinand's grave, with a job offer.Since there are no Katherines in sight, only Lindseys and Katrinas, the two boys settle in for the summer to interview textile workers, and, in Colin's case, come up with a mathematical formula for predicting the end result of a romantic relationship -- his Eureka moment.Layered with fun and funky characters, anagrams, formulas, flashbacks, and footnotes, this complex yet easy-to-read novel is not only compelling, but one of the smartest novels I've read in a long time.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Little Choppy, But Decent
I should preface this by saying that as 30something adult, I don't seek out "YA" (young adult, aka teen) fiction for my leisure reading. In the case of this book, I didn't realize it was a YA title until I was already hooked, and since I'm a fan of quirky coming-of-age novels, it pretty much fit right into my comfort zone. The story is about recent high-school graduate Colin. A former child prodigy, he is now merely another smart teenager with underdeveloped social skills and a yearning to leave his intellectual mark on the world. With the summer between high school and college to kill, he's also heartbroken because his girlfriend, Katherine, just dumped him. Actually, she's the nineteenth Katherine to sever relations with Colin (hence the title) -- although one of the book's enduring mysteries is how someone as neurotic as Colin manages to have relations with 3, let alone 19 girls, whatever they may be named. Eleven year-old Margaret wonders about growing up and religon in this well-written book. Margaret's feelings are portrayed delightfully in her talks to God. She is caught imbetween teenager and child, wishing for puberty to come faster. I think Judy Blume did an excellent job in creating a character much like a normal preteen. She has feelings for boys, has her best friends close to her heart, and is growing up like any other girl. She is sometimes embarassed by her parents, and just wants to become a teenager as fast as her friends are.
5-0 out of 5 stars Forever remembered
What a gem! A good book is one that we can not forget 30 years later. This novel is timeless. Readers can identify with ever aspect of what happens to Margaret as she enters the strange and intriguing journey into adolescence. There are moments of every girl's life that mark her entry into "womanhood." This book captures them all. Its innocence is beautiful as it approaches the preteen years with humor, depth and candor. What a marvelous book. Even though times have changed and readers have countless options of preteen books, this book surpasses them all.

4-0 out of 5 stars A bit dated but good
I can't believe I never read this book as a girl! I really missed out. It's a bit dated now (and the hired help parts really bother me), but I can see why girls love it. I wonder if there's anything similar but more modern? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Loved It!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This had to be the best A- List book. There was so much intriguy in it. It also was the longest A- List book. It was all set around prom and all the stress that goes into it. The new information that Cammie found out about her mother's death was scary, but it added a new twist. Also with Maddy and her crush on her math teacher. I have to admitt, It was kind of funny when Cammie found out that she burned down an LA landmark. I reccoamend this to everyone!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book
This is by far the best self-help book for girls that I have ever come across. It addresses issues--some very difficult--that pre-teen and teenage girls are faced with today.I thought that every chapter was sensitive and well-written.My 14 year old daughter thought the chapters on body image, anxiety and insomnia made her feel better about herself and more in control of her life.I thought that the last chapter, on lesbian teens, was appropriate and helpful as it showed that most girls are not gay, and that tolerance for others who are different is important. My 12 year old daughter found this reassurring as she was beginning to worry that she was a lesbian because of something she read in a magazine. This book is a must-read for every adolescent girl and her parents.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good book but deals with some tough issues
My 14 year old daughter enjoyed most of the book, however the last chapter about what to do if you like someone of the same sex was a little "gross" for her.She isn't sexually active and found some of the issue a little too explective.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent True to Life Book.Would highly recommend

3-0 out of 5 stars Could've been better
I had to read this book in a college upper level english course. The language is very simple, it is so simple that it is more suitable for high school. But because of so much cursing in the book, which gets old and boring, it is not suitable for high school kids lol. In her novel Brown completely undermines heterosexuality, marriage and family. Every married woman meets her doom once she gets married. Molly's first love Leota who used to be beautiful, looked 40 at 24as Brown described her. It seems that every woman's solvation from doom aka marriage is homosexuality. Just because Brown had an unfortunate encounter with men and didn't enjoy them, it doesn't mean that it applies to every woman. The book is very biased towards heterosexuality and marriage.

3-0 out of 5 stars A fun summer read
I read this novel because it is referenced in the Educating Rita. The relevance of the main character saying that this book is her favorite escaped me until I read the novel for myself.
4-0 out of 5 stars Pick It Up
I would of gave it a 5 but I didn't like the ending. This was comedy at it's best. The main character's life - [...] out of carolina - gets worst every chapter. Not much goes in her direction but she tries hard to succeed. She is looking for her true self and where she belongs. Everytime she finds someplace, something happens. She realizes that, that isn't her. Oddly enough she leaves her mark on so many people along the way.

Editorial Review

The torture and hell of adolescence has rarely been captured as clearly as it is in this classic diary by an anonymous, addicted teen. Lonely, awkward, and under extreme pressure from her "perfect" parents, "Anonymous" swings madly between optimism and despair. When one of her new friends spikes her drink with LSD, this diarist begins a frightening journey into darkness. The drugs take the edge off her loneliness and self-hate, but they also turn her life into a nightmare of exalting highs and excruciating lows. Although there is still some question as to whether this diary is real or fictional, there is Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars True Story?
Go Ask Alice by Anonymous is a story about a teenage girl written in the format of a diary. Not much is told to us about the setting but the culture seems late 60's and the girl has no name, so we'll call her 'Alice'. Lots of spoilers on this lens.
5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing book
This is one of the best books i have ever read. This book should be read by every teen out there. Alice has a very hard life for a teen and i think this could be self related to a bunch of teens out. I am 13 years old and when i read this book it woke me up. I have learned so much fomr it and everything. I recommend this book to everyone of the age of 13 and older. This is an amazing story of a teen. This is an easy reader i have read this book in about 5 days because its so good and you just cant put it down! The one law the book has is the ending when she stops writing in her journal and decides to move on. I understood the whole book but the end how she died (if she was addicted to drugs again or not). This is a wake up to the world with drug.

3-0 out of 5 stars Liked it until i read the last page
I watched the movie first most recently then found out there was a book.I thought it was just some cooky movie from the seventies with Captain Kirk from star trek starring as the father.I got to reading the book and at times wondered about it mainly because it was so different from the movie, but in most cases thats what happens to movies, they chop the book up to shorten it.Anyways, I read the whole thing at work in 2 days and I sort of liked it because I like these types of drug books, they are interesting to see how a person goes through their "drug stages", but the last page of the book bothered me.It said that she dies and I just didn't understand because she was so happy during the last several pages that it made no sense. Was her death just played off to make people think that once you use, you will always use and eventually die.But then i got to reading some of the reviews other people have left on here and it began to sink in that this book might actually be a hoax.Funny though, I think as a teenager, had I read this book, I would have tried drugs because of how they were described and how feelings were described in the beginning of the book, nevertheless, i enjoyed the book although I can really see how it just might possibly be a hoax to conform or keep away kids from drugs. ... It was only a slap. Well, maybe more than one. And maybe Nick used his fist at the end when the anger got out of control. But his girlfriend Caitlin deserved it--hadn't she defied him by singing in the school talent show when he had forbidden her to display herself like that? Even though he'd told her that everybody would laugh at her because she couldn't sing and was a fat slob? Both were lies. Because Caitlin was so beautiful, the only person who understood him. Out of his desperate need for her came all the mean words and the hitting. But now Caitlin's family has procured a restraining order to keep Nick away, and the judge has sentenced him to Mario Ortega's Family Violence class, to sit around every week with six other angry guys who hit their girlfriends. And to write a journal explaining how he got into this mess.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Review on "Breathing Underwater"
Breathing Underwater is a novel that fits into American culture because it has to do with domestic violence. It illustrates some of the many experiences that teenagers go through in everyday life.
