5-0 out of 5 stars A MUST READ Lurlene McDaniel book!
A long time ago i read this book and it was the first LM book I ever read. I loved it!!!Lurlene McDaniel is my fave author and I'm pretty sure I've read all her books. What can I say?:Im a HUGE fan!her novels relate to real-life stories, so they are very sad but they make you wish you could help people who are suffering from diseases or a crisis like the characters in LM's books.
5-0 out of 5 stars Best Book I ever Read
This is one of the best books that I have ever read, i was so into it, I finsihed the first story in less than 3 hours. It also helps with problems , the first story talks about cancer, and one of my loved ones is dealing with cancer, and it made me feel better afer I read it, these are very inspirational stories, and will show you that there is more to life than the little things.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Stories!
These stories truly went straight to my heart...every single one of them! Mainly because I could relate to all of them. In the first story, Sarah had leukemia and I once had a very good friend that went through all the same ordeals as Sarah. The second story I think I can relate to also because a couple of months back, I too was a candy striper at my local hospital because I had to get service hours for my church in order to be Confirmed, and just like Megan, I too went to the hospital everyday at first just wanting to get my hours done and go home, but after awhile, some of the patients that you visit with and get to know everyday have a very huge impact on you and your life sort of starts to revolve around them because you're constantly worrying about their health but, there's nothing you can do except listen to them talk everyday and try to cheer them up the best that you can. Then finally in the third story about Anne, I can also relate because just recently my distant cousin, whom I was very close with, passed away on account of HIV and the AIDS virus and I know the struggle she went through everyday because I was with her most days. Her and my friend, with leukemia, were also part of the reason I stuck with my candy striping job at the hospital because, like Megan put it, it gives you a great feeling of joy knowing that somehow you made a difference in someone's life and even though I'm only a sophmore in high school, I am already starting to make plans to someday attend Medical School and become a doctor so that I can keep making a difference in people's lives. So, thank you Lurlene for writing these beautiful and truly heart-warming stories that I would recommend to anyone and everyone! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars "A Season For Goodbye proves to be worth it more than any other McDaniel novels"
A Season for Goodbye by Lurlene McDaniel gets the readers attention in every way possible. It has comedy, suspense which keeps the readers hooked to keep on reading and finding out what is going to happen next, a few conflicts that get resolved eventually and a bit of tragedy that brings tears to its reader's eyes. This novel revolves around three young women, Katie, Lacey and Chelsea. There is one thing that holds all three of the characters together and that is the Jenny House. The Jenny House is a house for people with cancer and they all get together over the summer to enjoy every bit of time they have left. The three girls get together this summer for the last time before heading off their own directions. All three have conflicts going on in their lives which they in the end resolve.

5-0 out of 5 stars One Last Wish
Lurlene Mcdaniel has written an extremely wounderful book called "One LastWish". Themes of discovering the tragic story behind a struggle for survival against impossible odds. The novel is written in first person narrative style by a character named Jenny Crawford. Who is Jenny Crawford? A 16 year old girl who struggles for survival and understands the love and friendships that develop into a legacy of giving. Falling deeply in love, Jenny dosen't really tell Richard Holloway the way she really feels about hime. Closer do they become after finding out that Jenny's life is completly destroyed with leukemia. Though towards the end of the story Jenny learned that suffering does not respect people and who they are. Knowing that she only had little time to live,Jenny made her grandmother promise to make sure she made out her will. She wanted to leave something meaningful behind. A special trust fund of one hundred thousand dollars, for other sick teenagers. Which she called it her "One Last Wish". As I read the story it made me feel all the pain Jenny had to go through, and even though she had leukemia Richard didn't care, and admired her with all his heart. Besides all the extreme characters,I really enjoyed reading this novel by Lurlene Mcdaniel. The imagery in this story gives you an exact picture in your mind, anthor good reason why I enjoyed reading this story. The story could have been better if the author would of let us know what Richard Holloway ended up doing in his life. After reading the pain Jenny had struggled with it was disapointing to read that she passed away. Reading this story makes you realize whats good in life, and the things you should appriciate. The narrator draws you into the world of Jenny Crawford, which is what a good novel is all about.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Tear Jerker
This story has to be on of the best stories in the entire One Last Wish series. It shows the hardships that teens that have Cystic Fibrosis have to endure daily.Kara Fischer, a girl with C.F., shows what she goes through every day with this disease, and how it affects her every day life. She deals with the same things we deal with and more; and it shows how determined she is to have a normal life. When she falls in love with Eric, and he finds out about her C.F., I was surprised to see what he did. This book is a heart-wrenching story that brought a tear to my eye while reading it.It is an amazing book with a great truth behind it.Showing all of the things that happen to the people suffering from the disease, in using a child for the main character, makes you relate to the character even more; whether you have the disease or not.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best book ever!
I really loved thsi book.Especially how all the characters from the other stories get together. The scenes with Josh and Katie were heart-breaking and wonderful at the same time. And if you want to know what ahppens between Katie and Josh once the summer's over, you gotta read this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars WoW.....greatest book!
Ok.....i have read all of the One Last Wish books and this one by far is the greatest!! Katie and Josh's ending was fantastic...i think Lurlene McDaniel should write more of the OLW books about Katie and Josh's future together...and Lacey and Jeff and Meg and Morgan. The book does leave you at a loss with what happend to Meg and Morgan, Jeff and Lacey, Eric, and Chelsea..it would be great to find out what happens to eveyone. I loved all of the other OLW books too! I couldn't put any of these books down they were great. And Lurlene McDaniel should defiantly write more books about OLW and Jenny House!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Reach for Another Day
I really like romance novels. The way Lurlene McDaniel explains the character's emotions is unbeliveable! My favorite book by Lurene McDaniel is "Reach for Tomorrow," the second in this McDaniel series. It is about a girl named Katie and she goes to a camp where sick kids go to have fun.Katie meets up with a bunch of friends including her ex-boyfriend,Josh.When they saw eachother, they freaked out. Then she found out that he has been in an accadent and they didn't know if he was going to live. She and all the campers are all worried. She goes down to the chapel and prays for him. A couple of weeks later they got married in the chapel. Katie's favorite camper,Sara, was supposed to be in the wedding but....If you want to know what happens, read "Reach for Tomarrow." I really like the book "Telling Christina Goodbye," also by Lurlene McDaniel. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars The Tragic History
Have you actually seat down and read a book? What all kinds of books do you like to read daily? Me I like all kinds of books. Such as romantic, mystery, and sad stories. That's all about what I read. But there are lots of interesting stories out there in the world.
5-0 out of 5 stars it changed my life
I believe that some of the books I read as an adolescent have truly shaped my outlook on life as an adult, and few more so than this book.I picked it up by happy accident at a garage sale, and was immediately hooked on this author.Even though I still consider this one to be the best, I also loved all her others. This made me more sympathetic to people with illnesses where before they tended to make me uncomfortable. It also made me realize that I wanted to be an organ donor, and that I needed to tell my family this, in case something happened to me.Though I'd prefer to be using my own organs for a long time, if something happens to me, then it is a very great comfort to me to know that my death could mean life to others. If I have children, I will be sure to encourage my girls (or boys, though they probably wouldn't dig them) to read these books, because I think if more people read these then more people would become organ donors, and in turn more people would live.

4-0 out of 5 stars Someone Dies Someone lives a heart warming story
Someone Dies, Someone lives, Is a great book it kept me hooked on to each word till the end of the last page. Its weird how a death can make a huge impact on two people. Aaron's death might have been good for both Katie for keeping her alive with his heart and heart breaking for Josh for loosing his only brother who got him as far as he is in life. This book is a type of book that willkeep you guessing till the end. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars not up to my expectations...
I was really looking forward to this book, but now I'm kinda mad that I actually bought the book.It wasn't bad or anything, but it just wasn't what I was expecting.I was really hoping for romance. But there was hardly any.
5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely brilliant!
I just finished this book yesturday, and I am searching for more. It was my second Lurlene Mcdaniel book, and all I can say is that this may be the best book I have ever read. I could not put the book down. The story just draws you in and I think most people can relate to the story in one area or another. WHen I put the book down I cried, and if it can touch me like that, I think it can touch the millions of people who will, or have, read it. I just fell in love with it, and now I am rereading it. It was just absolutly brilliant.

5-0 out of 5 stars a truly great book
Please Don't die, was the first of many books by Lurlene McDaniel that i have purchased and read. Not only is it entertaining it helped me to get over the death of my cousin, who died of Leukemia.the individual stories of all the girls jumps out and grabs you, whether you want it or not.If you want a book that you want to read and be affected this is it.

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS WAS THE BEST BOOK EVER!!!
This was one of the best books I have ever read. I learned a lot from this book. It also taught me a lot of things. It taught me that nothing can ruin a girl and girl relationship (a friendship between two girls). I have learned that when a good friend comes along, don't lose them. Don't let anything get in the way of that relationship. I had to do this book for a book report and I would do it again. Although this is the only one of McDaniel's books I have read, I plan to read many more. She is an inspirational writter and I say that she is an inspiration to us all.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great book!
Lurlene McDaniel writes motivating novels about teenagers facing life-altering situations. Please Don't Die a fictional novel that is part of the One Last Wish series. The novel is written in third person, with four main characters. The themes of the novel are never giving up and never lose your hope and faith. Life is going to get tuff but as long as you have supportive friends and family you'll make it. Life wasn't made to be easy and there is always going to be someone who has more than you and always someone who has less. Enjoy what you have you were made for a reason, and everything happens for a reason even if its unknown. The one last wish series deals with an unknown person gives a gift of money with no strings attached to help someone who might be dieing. This mysterious person gives away money for a sick person to have there dreams come true in there final time. The person donating the money known as JWC doesn't want any credit for it just to know that the person who is sick will get there last wish.I personally loved the book, as a cancer survivor it gives me a lot of insight, and shows me how lucky I really am to be alive. Also life is to short and I need to enjoy every minute of it. Life may not always be easy but the bumpy roads only make you stronger. I have read many other novels by Lurlene McDaniel and I've loved them all too.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Not the best book you'll find for teenagers
If you are looking for a good, tear-jerking story that makes you care about the characters, you will need to look elsewhere."She Died Too Young" features perfect characters that are miserable because they all need organ transplants to live. Both reach a critical stage, and surprise! there's only one set of organs! So one of the two has to die.And of course, there are a couple of flawless, gorgeous guys waiting around for the girls. Please don't waste your time or money on this book--save a tree.

5-0 out of 5 stars Death of Young Girl
This Book is called She Died Too Young. It was written by Lurlene McDaniel. This girl named Chelsea James needs a heart transplant. She goes to stay with her friend Katie's house waiting for the news for the donor.Chelsea and Katie met at a place called Jenny House and they spent a wonderful sommer together.Chelsea goes to a place where they talk about the way they feel.Chelsea made a new friend named Jillian. She was really nice.Jillian invited her to her house. She and Katie was picked up in a limo to go to her house and they thought that was pretty cool. This is a fantastic book and it made me think that I need to be thankful for what I have because I could end up like her someday.I think that the theme is most represented in this book because you learn a lesson a bout life when you put yourself in Chelsea's shoes and you find out that you may not have a chance to survive. You need to know that life isn't always fair.If you like Relistic Fiction books than I recommend this book for you to read.I gave this book five stars because this book will touch your heart in certain ways.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great read!
I first read this book in 1994 when I was 10 years old. I got it from the book fair and was fascinated by all things medical. It ended up touching me so much and I continue to read Lurlene Mcdaniel books at 21. I re-read "She died too young" this summer and it can still make me cry. The friendship of Jillian and Chelsea is something we all need. I very much recommend this book..It'll really make you appreciate your own friends. ... Read more

I liked this book because it was about caring for people who are sick and in the hospital and I think that's an awesome idea!

Sarah Mcgreggor is a girl with leukemia. Sarah goes to the hospital and she finds out that she needs a bone marrow transplant. This transplant could be some bone marrow from her mom, dad, sister, or brother. Then her mom and dad said to her to go up to her hospital room and wait for them.Sarah's parents came up to her room and tell her that she can't have the transplant because her parents aren't really her parents. She was actually adopted and Sarah got a little mad though. Sarah then goes to California where her real mother was there. Sarah then meets her mom and asks her to dontate her bone marrow to her so she can live. Her mom had let her down saying go hom thouh. The next day Srah's real mom came to her hotel and told her about her hertiage. Sarah's dad had died in a plane crash and her real mom had breast cancer so she couldn't give her bone marrow because she didn't have any good marrow. Sarah ends up in the hospital when she came back to her home town. Sarah doesn't know if she is going to live. Do you think she will live? That is a thing to learn in the next book though.

2-0 out of 5 stars sweet, but no romance...
To be honest, I never would have just bought this book off the shelf. The reason I read it was because I bought a "One Last Wish" trilogy with three 'One Last Wish' stories because it inlcuded "Sixteen and Dying".But since I had it, I ended up reading it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Extremely Emotional
This book is one of Lurlene McDaniel's best. It tells us that dreams really can come true and happiness can come from the bleakest of corners. You will get caught up in Meg and Donavan's growing love and cry with them. The story is a heart-wrencher and you will find yourself crying throughmost of it. You probably won't want to put it down though as there is nevera dull moment. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars AMUDDLED MESS
I REALLY WANTED TO LIKE THIS BOOK. I LOVED ALL OF THE OTHER TEPPER BOOKS THAT I HAVE READ. UNFORTUNATELY, I HAD TROUBLE FOLLOWING THE PLOT TO THIS ONE. I WAS SO CONFUSED THAT I HAD TO START OVER HALFWAY THRU. BELIEVE ME IT WAS NO MORE PLAIN THE SECOND TIME AROUND. THE ONE THING THAT REALLY STANDS OUT IN MY MIND IS THE CENTRAL THEME. IT IS TRULY AN UNIVERSAL QUESTION: WHY ARE WE HERE?

5-0 out of 5 stars A *very* good book
I do not often write reviews here but this time I simply had to share. I had never heard of Sheri S. Tepper before reading this book so I started reading it without any pre-conceived notions of what to expect but already from the first page I was convinced that it was a great book - and all the rest of the book, every page of it, was just as good as the first one!4-0 out of 5 stars Plot-heavy but fascinating
This was my introduction to Sheri Tepper and, while I didn't understand all the references to the previous happenings in this trilogy, I couldn't tear myself away.I liked the characters a lot, I loved the world (altho it is a little similar to one of Jack Chalker's series), and I thought the overall plot was good.If you like plot-driven books (as most SF books are), you probably will enjoy this one.Plus, the sheer variety in this world is fascinating.I would probably recommend that you start off with Grass, tho it didn't hurt me to do it backwards. This book will always have a place in my heart since it introduced me to a great SF writer. ...
