SONS OF ENTROPY
5-0 out of 5 stars A great Buffy the Vampire Slayer trilogy
You know how many times you get suckered into buying a bunch of paperbacks because it is some giant continued story?Well, trust me, this one is well worth the investment in time and cash.Golden and Holder are far and away the best writers working on Buffy books and in this entire series they get free reign with the characters and their imagination. There is also a respect for Buffy and her friends you do not always get in such books.Let me put it another way: you know how good this series is?I went out and got a hardback edition because this is a keeper (even if you do not have a gate).

5-0 out of 5 stars The concluding book in an epic Buffy trilogy
The Gatekeeper Trilogy is far and away the best of the Buffy books.Christopher Golden and Nancy Holder are far and away the best writers working on the books.Since they are also the main authors of the Watcher Guides they certainly have the requisite knowledge of the characters and the Buffy mythos. In retrospect I ended up feeling about these three books pretty much the way I did about the original Star Wars trilogy where the second one is the best and the finale has a bit of trouble living up to your expectations because what has gone before has been so great. However, put them together and they simply set the bar higher for everyone who comes in their wake.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Another flashback to 1910
In this sequel to Tom Swift and His Motor-Boat, Tom Swift and his new friend John Sharp build Sharp's dream aircraft, a hybrid dirigible/airplane. However, Happy Harry's gang is still around, and is up to no good. Why are they hanging around the bank? As usual, Tom combines his love of all things mechanical with his boyish energy and big heart to help his friends and bring the villains to justice.4-0 out of 5 stars Good for a read
I just finished this book this morning.I think the wonderful thing about this book is getting a perspective on people's views of technology in another time. One of my favorite glimpses was when Mr Sharp told Tom that someday these blimp-like airships would be everywhere.I think we have yet to see a mass market on blimps. Also, when the sherrif gets to ride in the Red Cloud, he wonders at the fact that he hadn't even ridden in a car before, and now he was riding in an airship.Imagine a sherrif who spent his life never driving or even riding a car.The other fun thing about this sort of book is the dialogue.I can't remember some of the better lines, but I smiled several times pondering the meaning of some old cliches, or tough fighting one-liners that no longer sound tough.Read it. You'll see.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very old but EXCELLENT boys' adventure book ! !
This book was originally released in about 1910. The Airship is a kind of dirigible.Remember, this is before the Wright Brothers' flight. Old as these books are, they are full of thrilling adventures and most engagingcharacters.Huge numbers of these books were sold, partly because they aregripping and well done. In this book, Tom's souped up zepplin helps him andhis friends to escape trumped up, false charges for a bank robbery--actually committed by others. Tom also meets a sweetie girl-friend whenhis dirigible temporarily goes out of control and crashes into the roof ofher school! The characters are a real treat!Fun, odd, colorful, andwonderfully drawn. Great gift for a young person.I believe this is ahandsome facsimile of the 1910 edition. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A FREE LUNCH
Although a little uneven, this, the latest print edition to THE SIMPSONS TREEHOUSE OF HORROR featuring all new original artwork and stories, is still an entertaining and very funny book.Rarely is it really scary, but there are some truly inspired moements (MOE'S URBAN TALES OF TERROR: #62: THE PHANTOM GIRLFRIEND!!), visual gags and some daring plots (REASONS TO AVOID A ZOMBIE-RUN RESTURANT and HELL-O-WEEN, the last and best story of the entire book) are to be found inside.A major draw for these stories is the often new and original take on both the artwork and the actual look of the Simpsons.Artists are given free regin here to play with the look and style of The Simpsons, as well as placing them in odd and strange situations (even more odd and strange than even the television series is allowed to go). While third in the series, it shows no sign of getting old or growing stale.Perhaps not the best TREEHOUSE ever, but still remarkable and highly recommdned. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A MUST READ Lurlene McDaniel book!
A long time ago i read this book and it was the first LM book I ever read. I loved it!!!Lurlene McDaniel is my fave author and I'm pretty sure I've read all her books. What can I say?:Im a HUGE fan!her novels relate to real-life stories, so they are very sad but they make you wish you could help people who are suffering from diseases or a crisis like the characters in LM's books.
5-0 out of 5 stars Best Book I ever Read
This is one of the best books that I have ever read, i was so into it, I finsihed the first story in less than 3 hours. It also helps with problems , the first story talks about cancer, and one of my loved ones is dealing with cancer, and it made me feel better afer I read it, these are very inspirational stories, and will show you that there is more to life than the little things.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Stories!
These stories truly went straight to my heart...every single one of them! Mainly because I could relate to all of them. In the first story, Sarah had leukemia and I once had a very good friend that went through all the same ordeals as Sarah. The second story I think I can relate to also because a couple of months back, I too was a candy striper at my local hospital because I had to get service hours for my church in order to be Confirmed, and just like Megan, I too went to the hospital everyday at first just wanting to get my hours done and go home, but after awhile, some of the patients that you visit with and get to know everyday have a very huge impact on you and your life sort of starts to revolve around them because you're constantly worrying about their health but, there's nothing you can do except listen to them talk everyday and try to cheer them up the best that you can. Then finally in the third story about Anne, I can also relate because just recently my distant cousin, whom I was very close with, passed away on account of HIV and the AIDS virus and I know the struggle she went through everyday because I was with her most days. Her and my friend, with leukemia, were also part of the reason I stuck with my candy striping job at the hospital because, like Megan put it, it gives you a great feeling of joy knowing that somehow you made a difference in someone's life and even though I'm only a sophmore in high school, I am already starting to make plans to someday attend Medical School and become a doctor so that I can keep making a difference in people's lives. So, thank you Lurlene for writing these beautiful and truly heart-warming stories that I would recommend to anyone and everyone! ... Read more

Corky and her friends think that the evil is back. All kinds of horrible stuff is happening. Like first one of the girls on the cheerleading squad falls and breaks her neck. So then there is an opening for another cheerleader. So they have try-outs and they have narrowed it down to three girls but, while they are discusing it a screw driver falls from the bleachers andhits one of the girls that made the squad so, then they have to pick the second best person and that is Lauren. So the only one that didnt make it is Ivy but, she stays at all the practices because she said that if something happened she could be on the squad. And then Namia almost gets burned to death so then Ivy is on the squad. Then Corky and her friends think that the evil is in Ivy because Ivy wanted onthe squad really bad and all thoes girls started getting hurt so she could be on the squad. So Corky and her friends have a big ice skating party and theinvite everyone so that Ivy will come and they can try and get the evil out of her. So they get a spell from this spel book that they bought and started chanting. But, then the evil comes out from below the ice and they know that they have messed up and that the evil never was there but, that they had just awaked the evil. Then the evil starts killing people but, they dont know who the evil is in. Then they find out that the evil is in Alex so they drown the evil out of him.

4-0 out of 5 stars 4 1/2Hilarious but Not Authentic
The varying opinions of this book may reflect readers' expectations. Those who want a humorous book based on the "THe Simpsons" will love it; but those who want something more true to the TV show's presentation will ultimately feel some disappontment. As I read through the opening town history(recounting city founder "Jedidiah Obediah Zachariah Obediah Springfield) and quickly advanced to typical tourist guide chapters such as attractions, where to eat (and especially, to drink), city events, etc., I enjoyed the mix of pointed social and political satire, idiosyncratic cast, and implied or retold story lines that have made "The Simpsons" probably one the truely great animated shows (as well as comedies, period). THe book is a condensed reminder of favorite settings (much more so than episodes), and the entire Springfield gestalt: crooked politicians, inept police, the polluting nuclear plant, and the wide spectrum of schemes hatched by both boy and father Simpson.
5-0 out of 5 stars Better than Let's Go and Lonely Planet
This is an essential read and travelling companion for anybody intent on visiting the small town of Springfield whilst backpacking the USA.You will find information in here that you will not find in the other more well known backpacker books such as Let's Go and Lonely Planet.A complete accommodation listing complete with pictures and descriptions of everything from the history of the establishment to the staff and usual clientele, make picking your chosen place to sleep in Springfield so, so easy.5-0 out of 5 stars A sure "keeper," well worth the money
The Simpsons Guide to Springfield is an excellent book. The format of the book is simple: You read it as if you were visiting Springfield as a tourist. You learn about local attractions, like the Noiseland Video Arcade and Springfield Hydroelectric Dam, places to stay, like the Sleep-Eazy Motel and Rancho Relaxo, places to eat, like Two Guys from Kabul and Jittery Joe's Coffee Shop, places for your nightlife, like The Aristocrat and Shotkickers, places to shop, like the Crypto Barn and Wicked Access, about Annual Events, like the Springfield Chili-Cook Off and Film Festival, and about dangerous happenings and people, like Sideshow Bob and radiation. Each place or thing or person has a detailed description. The book also has short essays by Dr. Hibbert, Kirk van Houten, Bart, Reverend Lovejoy, and more. There is a picture on almost every page, and hilarious captions. There is also information on rare artifacts in Springfield. This book is is sure buy for Simpsons fans. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Eh...
It was an okay book. About a bunch of teens having a birthday party on a remote island. Most people leave the house then when returning one girl finds a surprize in the kitchen. The main problem in this book was that R.L. Stine tried to put too much suspense in it and it sort of gets old. just buy a used copy for a penny for reading when you have nothing else to do. I reccomend that you get the babysitter 1 by R.L. It's one of my favorites! ... Read more

This is the 3rd book in the series. It's about a girl name Nora & a boy name Daniel want to stop the curse of the family. They think that the only way to end it forever is to get married. This book actually need 10 stars because it was better than the other 2.

2-0 out of 5 stars Cursed Forever
The Burning is one of the sagas set in days of old explaining the curse that possesses Fear Street.it is an interesting read but it involves much death and is not a cheery book by any means. So I am wondering if it is really worth it.There isn't really a positive aspect or moral to it.Except, perhaps, that the Fear family's own evil is what eventually destroyed them. ... It was a neat book. Nancy and George go on a wilderness trek and when things get suspicious, Nancy calles in the Hardys. It had lots of excitement though it didn't really have any romance. I especially like theway they meet. It's funny. I also like when they were in they raft. Icouldn't put it down and I definatly reccomend it.-RJG,12

5-0 out of 5 stars As good as the T.V. Show!
Wow, this was my very first Simpsons Comic Book that I have bought and trust me I was very impressed. I didn't really have high expectations for it but this really took me by suprise. This Comic is amazingly funny! You just have to get this book, trust me you won't regret it with classic strips such as "A Trip to Simpsons Mountain" where Grandpa tells his days when there was no television and "Get Fatty" where the town of Springfield is known as the most overweight town in the country and every food that now sells is nutritional and so the whole town has to lose some weight in order to be awarded a waterpark. I would get this Comic book if I were you because now I have at least a dozen Simpson Comics in my room after buying this one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not Quite Up to Simpsons Comics Standards, but Still Fun
Despite the cover, there is no western-related comic in this book (probably a good thing). This comic book is funny (it includes a comic book convention survival guide and a look at Lisa's dream house), but Matt Groening and company really raised the bar with some of their other comic books-hence the four star grade.3-0 out of 5 stars Krustonia
This was an okay book, with nothing exceptional. Starting the book off with "Krustonia" was a big mistake, as it's easily the worst Simpsons comic ever. Once you start reading it, it gets boring, so take myadvice, read everything else first, then come back to this one, since Ilost enthusiasm after struggling to complete Krustonia for several days. That said, Homer's wresting days are really funny, the Smithers clones arestrange, but somehow very entertaining. (Mr. Burns better watch out :) andHomer as Radioactive Man was great, especially to see Leon "MichaelJackson" Komposki back. I also liked the mini-Ned Flanders mystery, and the guide to comic book conventions. If it weren't for Krustonia, thisbook would be the perfect buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!

This is definatly my favorite book in the series. Its awesome to see how they build their lightsabers. It also is the most interesting! I loved it!!!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Good, but not the best of the series.
This was a good book, but I enjoyed the first three in the series more. I have liked reading this series now instead of when they first came out. I enjoy reading the early stories of the new generation of Jedi Knights. If you can find this book it is worth your time, especially if you enjoyed The New Jedi Order series.

5-0 out of 5 stars a delight to read.

3-0 out of 5 stars Average buffy book
Id say that this book is a little mediocre for a Buffy book. Some of the character's personalities just arent the same in this book as they are on the show. The storyline isnt really all that original either. Buffy's on her own because all of her friends are betraying her. It couldnt have possibly taken that long to write this.4-0 out of 5 stars I had problems right off the bat
I always check what season i takes place iin and it said season 6 then i started to read it and got really confused because they were talking about season 7 stuff. But overall it was a good book.

3-0 out of 5 stars Dwindling the mood for reading..
the series are damn great..the games are cool but when it comes to the books..i think the story's a little slow and uninteresting...to be precise...i really don't think the writers of the Buffy book series should put up longer plots to make the book more appealing since I think it really dwindles my mood to read the book. However, the settings and characters are immense and totally coincide for each circumstance in the book. Keep up the good work and I definitely think there are remedies to rectify the error. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars If its "bad as in naughty...IS THIS THE BEST IT CAN THINK OF!!
The Book Ain"t bad in a horrible way but this book doesn"t have the naughtyness like the AWESOME tv show. Big "Beefy" Book is more naughty. Why? A comic page shows you bart showing his butt. In Bart version 2.0,it has toilet humour and shows girls in beds and BIKKINIS!!!...So Big Beefy IS waaaaay better...

5-0 out of 5 stars I agree with jong chung
Yeah, the early reviewer is a tool.I busted a gut laughing all thru this collection.I'm afraid the reviewer's comment about this material being aimed too low says more about him than about the material!

5-0 out of 5 stars Broken Hearts
This is an excellent book! I would recommend it for any fear street lover. The killer was quite suprising also. I would recommend it for mystery readers also. It is just great!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best in the series
I read this and a bunch of other books in the Fear Street series about nine years ago. I picked this book up again(out of boredom) and realized what a great job Mr. Stine did! He actually took time to flesh his characters out, and got into their personal lives (Easy to do in a novel, really hard to do in a series with new characters in each book, which is why the Superchillers are the best in the Fear Street series hands down). Anyone who thinks the Fear Street series was never interesting even when the series was new, might find they were a little hasty after checking out "Broken Hearts".

5-0 out of 5 stars Someone hates Josie and Melissa

5-0 out of 5 stars One Of Stine's Best
First Date is one of the best books in the Fear Street series. Although predictable, it still had style and substance, and actually contained some very suspensful parts, unlike other Fear Street books.
4-0 out of 5 stars this book was ok i guess.
I really disliked how heartless Will Blakely was..other than that this was a great read.

4-0 out of 5 stars A creepy way to begin dating
Chelsea Richards has never had a first date, but she's not the only new kid in town noticing that. Two boys, two new, cute boys ask her out.One is a shy, sweet boy who goes to her high school. The other is a rough, tough dropout she meets at her dad's coffee shop.Chelsea is so excited, her first date! How can she know that one of her "first" dates could lead to her funeral?Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars This ain't Buffy, and it SURE ain't Spike!!!
I don't know what restrictions the various authors work under in cranking out these tales, but they must have been created by someone who neither saw the show nor has any idea just who the majority of the fans are. Most of us are ADULTS, and we would really like to have our age group recognised. Look at the origonal episodes and the subject material they contained. These were stories written for and enjoyed by an audience considerably more mature than the "young adult" market the books cater to. Many of us have passed our fifth decade, for cryng out loud. Surely, somewhere, there must be a writer who is both familiar with the show's characters and capable of writing a mature entertaining book about this wonderful show.

4-0 out of 5 stars I would have given it 5 stars but Spike is such a loser!
Overall this book was terrific. Well conceived, well written. I liked how it got back to the basics with Willow, Buffy, Giles and Xander. I also like Anya and Dawn. I really hoped that The Buffster would have had time to get to know the supernatural being Michael. He seemed wonderful. I will always want her with Angel though.

Among the rocky coasts, shimmering turquoise waters and ancient ruins of Greece you can rest assured that a mystery lies in wait for Nancy Drew and the Hardy brothers.
4-0 out of 5 stars The review of Islands of Intrigue
As a big Nancy Drew fan I found this book exciting and one of the best books in the Super Mystery series. It has excitment and suspence, not to mention mystery! As Nancy finds herself and Bess( Nancy's best friend) inthe romantic islands of Greece she also finds herself a mystery as a newfriend of hers,Alexis Canstantine, is kidnapped. Well just as she alwaysdoes, Nancy sees this as a chance for a much enjoyable mystery. Meanwhilethe famous brothers, Frank and Joe Hardy, also find them selves in Greecebut for a different reason. They are there to follow a man accused ofstealing a dozen of U.S. super powered misiles. I give this book two thumbsup! It was an exciting page turner, you won't be able to put it down!

5-0 out of 5 stars yeah it was good!
When are ya'll people gonna learn that the whole Nancy and Frank thing is utterly and completely over. They kissed how many times two thats right only TWO.Then after that they admitted that it felt very very wrong and very awkward. I mean they say that they LOVE Ned and Callie they just don'tlove other people they love Callie and Ned. So get out of your head thatthere is ever gonna be a thang going on between Nancy and Frank!Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Road Trip for 'Buffy' and the Scooby Gang
Sunnydale is known to be situated right upon the Hellmouth, so it's not a big surprise when demons of all sorts start piling into the small town. But when a collection of trolls, sea monsters, werewolves, toads, skyquakes, and numerous other strange things - stranger than normal things - begin infiltrating Sunnydale, Buffy knows that something isn't quite right. And with Giles hospitalized over three-thousand miles away, Buffy knows that it's more than one Slayer can handle. Especially when each ugly is coming through an old portal from centuries ago, through time and space. Buffy knows that the hell-hole must be found and corked ASAP, which means that Buffy, Angel, and the rest of the Scooby Gang are headed to Boston to meet up with the Gatekeeper. However, once there, Buffy finds that the supernatural mansion that the Gatekeeper reigns over, is home to thousands of rooms, all of which are entrances to so-called "ghost roads," that could bring Buffy face-to-face with some of the most evil beings on earth. Evil beings who are dying to teach the Slayer a lesson.

One of the things I love most about Buffy as a whole, is character development. This book was so busy with endless action sequences, that the character's personalities were largely ignored.Read more
