5-0 out of 5 stars Drowned Wednesday is WONDERFUL!!!!
Drowned Wednesday, the 3rd book in The Keys to the Kingdom series, by Garth Nix, is a fantastically original read. (It is the 3rd book in the series, so you do have to start with the first book in the series, Mister Monday.) The characters are very well developed, and it is just as exciting as the previous books in the series. This book is a great blend of Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Adventure that you will not forget! I can't wait to get my hands on the 4rth one in the series!
5-0 out of 5 stars a great bedtime adventure
I have read each of the Keys to the Kingdom books to my [...] every night before bed. We just finished Wens. and are looking forward to starting Thurs. I think the books are a great read even for younger kids who enjoy adventure books, if the parents are willing to help out the reader with the tougher words. I would strongly reccomend these books to children of any age, but also caution that some situation might be a little too scary if your child isn't used to "older" books. We read the Harry Potter series first and it is no scarier then that series.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Tale of the Whale
Wednesday being the third day of the week (if you don't start at Sunday of course), there are no prizes for guessing that this is book three of The Keys to the Kingdom series. If you haven't read Mister Monday and Grim Tuesday, please look no further - without the two preceding books you'll be up a creek without a paddle if you try this one on its own.

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't Stop Talking About Midnighters
I believe I've started an epidemic. Many of my friends, irked by the fact that I won't shut up about Midnighters, are reading the books and enjoying them just as much as I do. But Book 3, Blue Noon, is the one that really made Midnighters stand out in my mind as one of my favourite sets of books (yes, I'm mad about Harry Potter and I adore Artemis Fowl and Bartimaeus, and this ranks right up there with them).
5-0 out of 5 stars Third Time Still A Charm
I bought Scott Westerfeld's Midnighters #3: Blue Noon back when it came out in March because I'm just that way, but I didn't get down to reading it until last week.
5-0 out of 5 stars Blue Noon, a fine finale to the thrilling Midnighters trilogy
The Midnighters are a group of five teenagers that live in the secret hour, the twenty-fifth hour of the day that only humans born at the stroke of midnight can experience. That midnight hour is called the secret hour, the blue time, the midnight hour.

5-0 out of 5 stars Review of Reckoning
This book happened to be my favorite book out of the series. I absolutely love it because it's suspenseful and you don't know what's going to happen next. I also like the names in the book - such as Lucifer Morningstar. Overall, the book is amazing and i wish there could be more books in the series.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent page turner, filled with magic and fantasy
I saw this at the bookstore and bought it on a whim. Glad I did! This was a major page turner. It's well written. The storylines hold together perfectly with no loose ends. The author writes with excitement, so that I couldn't help but feel anticipation and wonder on each page. I highly recommend this book for anyone who enjoys well written fantasy. Not to be missed.

4-0 out of 5 stars An Unexpected Jewel
I first got this book from my good friend who kindly lent it to me. It was hard for me to get into at first but after that it was all history. I would sit up all day and half the night seeing what happened. This book has more twists in it then a roller coaster.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Book Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Imagine being in a world where magic is as common as music is in this world. The Chronicles of Chrestomanci by Diana Jones is about a kid named Cat whose parents died in a boat crash.Cat's sister, Gwendolyn is extremely talented in witchcraft. On the other hand, Cat has no talent in magic whatsoever. The siblings have a chance to live at the house of Chrestomanci (KREST-OH-MAN-SEE) and they take it.When they move in, Gwendolyn feels strange, but she doesn't know what it is.Then Gwendolyn gets mad at Chrestomanci because he won't let her do magic at all in the castle. When Gwendolyn fights back, she does everything from making stain glass windows move to making holes in the ground to make Chrestomanci mad.He doesn't get mad and seems not to care. That just makes Gwendolyn even more enraged. She gets so mad that she does somethingagainst the law.If you are a fantasy or a Harry Potter lover, you will enjoy this book. This is a real page turnner. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars The Warren Witches? More like time-travel edition of never-before-told stories of Piper, Phoebe and Paige
This short story collection was given the wrong title. For a title "The Warren Witches", it should be about various ancestor witches, from Melinda Warren to The Charmed Ones, not just stories about the 3 main characters. And there are too many stories which involved time-travel. At least, there was mention of the girls' main ancestors - their mother, Grams, the 1920s cousins, Melinda, Prudence and Charlotte Warren, and Aunt Brianna - all of them should be familiar with Charmed fans. What about the other Warren Witches? Please. Do let us know more about Prudence's daughter Cassandra Warren-Wentworth. Everyone knows Aunt Brianna as she was famous for defeating Lord Gabriel. As mentioned in "Family History", she said that she has 1 sister, who has gone to America. That sister happens to be Astrid Warren-Wentworth. Both Brianna and Astrid are the daughters of Cassandra. What about letting Charmed fans know more about these witches? And Astrid's three daughters - Laura, Helena and Grace Wentworth? Tell us about any magical disaster they faced, their lives as witches, and how they overcame evil. The Wentworth sisters, each had a daughter and they became the well-known 1920s cousins, P.Bowen, P.Baxter and P.Russell. And from then, you know how the Warren Line goes. Stories that have been passed down through generations, stories on each ancestor and most importantly, their fight against evil and protecting the innocents.
3-0 out of 5 stars Tsk, tsk, tsk....
I truly believe the book could have been written better. THe title "The Warren Witches" stirs up thoughts of stories with other ancestors, not just the main characters, Piper, phoebe and paige.
2-0 out of 5 stars This Could Be Improved A Thousand Times Over....
This book just didn't have the show's signature sparkle. It was SUPPOSE to be about the Warren family, before the sisters!

2-0 out of 5 stars The most uneven, least compelling, and most macabre entry in the trilogy
The Golden Compass was an exciting, straightforward adventure. The Subtle Knife introduced more characters and more storylines. The Amber Spyglass, the third and final installment, is the most complex and sophisticated of the books, but it is also the least compelling (and the most macabre).
3-0 out of 5 stars Started great, ended terrible-- read Eoin Colfer Supernaturalists instead!
Great first 2 books, absolutely amazing. The last one got weird and nasty and depressing and anti-religious for no good reason I could see, and the series ended badly.So... if you want to read something as good as the first two books in Pullman's series, read Eoin Colfer's the Supernaturalists instead.

3-0 out of 5 stars Gets tangled in its own feet.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great book!
This interesting book is the second book in the Knights of the Old Republic series. The series is a collection of graphic novels that takes the reader to the Old Republic, thousands of years before the events of The Phantom Menace.

4-0 out of 5 stars Making sense of the unknown
An unidentified space vessel ("Rama") enters the solar system. Thehuman species has no other option than to try and figure out what it means. That is the basic datum around which Arthur C. Clarke's celebrated novel has been constructed. Clarke opens four windows on this process of sense making: an aesthetic, a scientific, a political and a religious.
5-0 out of 5 stars Imagination at its best!
Clarke's style has always been centered around imagination. Whether introducing to us a new world or taking us into the heart of an alien culture, Clarke is without a doubt the grand master of witty imaginings.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Splendor of Foreign Titans
The notion that an alien civilization could be prospering not far from our home and could eventually try to contact us is not a new one. Many science fiction authors have written on the subject, but none have done it with as much flair as Arthur C. Clark in Rendezvous With Rama. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Unique way to be Airborn
Matt Cruse, the star of Kenneth Oppel's Airborn, is landsick.Aboard the airship Aurora, he is always fine, but on the ground, not so.Matt is a cabin boy on Aurora and, in only his second year as a cabin boy, he rescues a man from a hot air balloon. When the man is dying, he talks of beautiful flying creatures.A year later with the man's granddaughter, Kate, Matt starts a quest to uncover these mysterious creatures.
5-0 out of 5 stars Up Up and away!
This is an excellent adventure story! Matt Cruse has spent most of his life in the air ...on a luxury passenger airship. He rescues a dying balloonist, meets the balloonists granddaughter, sees mysterious flying creatures, and takes on pirates. This action story has it all!

5-0 out of 5 stars Mmm....dirigibles.
I found this book so engaging that I finished it in a week. There are airships. There are pirates. There are mysterious creatures. There is more swashbuckling than you can shake a fake cutlass at. There is so much goodness in this book that I want to eat it just to get every last bit of goodness out and have it for my very own.

3-0 out of 5 stars Only so so
I can't help, but think that most of this rather short book should have just been part of the main book.Don't by this book if you're expecting stats for various weapons.(Some weapons have slightly different stats for good quality items, but that's it.)It does have a fairly large section on hiring various professions.I'd only buy this book if you have cash to spare, and your group likes the official word on how much to pay for goods, and services.Otherwise buy Bestiary, get the magic book, or buy Sigmar's Heirs.

5-0 out of 5 stars For those interested in things OTHER than hack n' slash
The crb for Warhammer has always been lacking in information on everyday items. This is a very useful tool at remedying it.The chapters on General Equipment, Special Equipment, Property & Business, and Treasures give excellent descriptions, pricing, and encumberance for things that adventurers and artisans might want to have to earn an income. From textile pricing to purchasing a bed frame, it is all in here. This book is a major improvement in the realistic aspect of the game and should be picked up by anyone looking to have a game that includes commerce and livelihood.

3-0 out of 5 stars Mostly More Of The Same
This book has chapters on currency, trade, arms, armour, equipment, transport and hirelings. Most of the chapters are expansions on material from the core rulebook. In some cases rules from the core rulebook are published here again. While convenient it adds to the page count and takes up space that could be used for more new material.

5-0 out of 5 stars Into the Cold Fire Review By: Diana
This book is about a girl who might be endangered by a groupd of people who is after her. These group of people are bad people who try to bring good people to the bad side. This book is a magical book with girls who have powers and they are trying to fight the bad people away. I liked this book because each character has a different personality and different ways to handle things in situations dealt together.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Review of Into the Cold Fire.
I thought this book was good. It had a lot of action in it. I also liked it because it had magical powers that noone in real life could have. This book is great for teens who like a little bit of romance, drama, and action.

4-0 out of 5 stars Daughters of the moon...the story continues...
NOTE: PLEASE READ THE FIRST BOOK BEFORE YOU READ THIS BOOK. THE STORY WILL BE RUINED IF YOU DO NOT READ THE OTHER TWO BOOKS FIRST. THIS STORY IS HARD TO FOLLOW IF YOU DO NOT EVERYTHING ABOUT THE SERIES AND ALL THE REALATIONSHIPS. THIS BOOK IS POORLY WRITTEN AND HARD TO FOLLOW IF YOU DON'T READ THE FIRST BOOK.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another Great Book from Hanley
Light of the Oracle is the third book Hanley has set in the same fantasy universe - and aside from that, the three books could hardly be more different, and all are excellent. The Seer and the Sword is a political-military novel, with relatively little magic and a lot of action. Healer's Keep is a save-the-world novel almost entirely about magical warfare between the protagonists and Ultimate Evil. And this one is an "academy" story about relationships among students and faculty at an institute organized to control prophecy. Others have summarized the plot; I'll just say that I've loved all three books, and that based on her start Hanley is fully worthy to be mentioned in the same breath as Tamora Pierce, Jane Yolen, Sherwood Smith, and Diana Wynne Jones. She doesn't have anything like their body of work produced yet, so I can't say if she'll sustain it as well, but so far so good.

5-0 out of 5 stars The light of the oracle
" A child born to such a calling is often called dreamer" Bryn is a poor humble stonecutters daughter. She is disturbed by visons that no one else can see she is teased because she talks to the wind and sky. One day Bryn runs across a path and meets her destiny, the first preist of the oracle. Bryn is offered to join the temple of the oracle as a handmaid and mabey become a priestess someday.Bryn enters the temple of the oracle with Clea, a rich snob who looks down on Bryn and becomes her enemy.Bryn meets friends such as Dawn ans Kiran (a boy who she loves. The day comes of the ceremony of birds, if you are chosen by a bird you are able to study as a preist or preistess, very few are normally chosen. Unfortunatly angainst Bryns hopes Clea gets chosen by a vulture, a powerful bird representing the god of death. Kiran gets chosen by the extreamly rare black swan, wich means he can comunicate with animals. Byrn however is not chosen by a bird, but the wind, wich makes her the first one to be wind chosen in ages, its the most powerfull roll. One day Bryn is cursed by jelous Clea, who weakens Bryns powers. Byrn and Kiran try to find a way to break the curse and keep the secret of the whereabouts of Selid a handmaid put to death for reasons that are unfair. But if someone finds out that Bryn and Kiran know they could be put to death as well.
5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best books of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Light of the Oracle, a fantasy by Victoria Handley, is about a young adult growing up with a special talent; she can see the future. Thought by the town, and mainly her mother, a wild and crazy child, Bryn has always felt singled out, separate from the rest. Separate, that is until one day she runs in front of the Master Priest's horse while following a strange piece of floating thistledown. The Master Priest, instead of seeing her as "the silly dreamer", he realizes her talent and asks her to join the Temple of the Oracle. Eager to leave the village, she quickly accepts; not knowing the challenges she is yet to face. But as she enters the Temple, so does the wicked, power-hungry Clea. Almost immediately, rivalry swarms between the two girls. As time passes, it soon becomes time for the bird-choosing festival, were a twist of fate leads Bryn to be chosen, not by a bird, but by the wind. 5-0 out of 5 stars Buy it when it's cheap
I had to wait 3 months to get this book. When it finally was available it was selling for $50! I bought it for $35. The lowest I've seen is $15.
5-0 out of 5 stars Cosmic craziness with a great conclusion
I'm a big fan of comic writers taking a stab at what could be considered the final story for a character.I've endured a never-ending loop of stories about my favorites, and every so often, it's nice to see someone take their shot at wrapping it up. Batman has "Dark Knight Returns", the Avengers have "The Last Avengers Story", and in 1990, Thanos kinda-sorta received his, courtesy of writer Jim Starlin and artists George Perez and Ron Lim.To many readers, THE INFINITY GAUNTLETestablished Thanos as one of the major villains in the Marvel Universe, leading to bigger and better things, but I look at it in another way. I feel that THE INFINITY GAUNTLET can serve as the perfect "last Thanos story", and I prefer it as such, instead of it leading to more stories, such as Infinity War and Infinity Watch.
4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!
When the Infinity Gauntlet saga originally happened, I was in my comic collecting prime.I missed out on most the saga, sadly, because I was in an area where it was quite hard to get a good selection of comics.I bought a few tie-in issues from other series and sort of pieced together what was going on.The only thing I remember is knowing the Infinity Gauntlet was coming in advance, because an issue of Quasar (my favorite comic at the time. Please don't laugh at me about that.) showed Thanos with the Gauntlet, as he attempted (unsuccesfully) to destroy a super-powerful villian you've never heard of called Maelstrom.(If you care at all, the Quasar series was called Cosmos in Collision and ended with the universe nearly being destroyed.I really wish they'd reprint that one as well, but Quasar has never been, and likely never will be, popular enough to warrant something like that.)Read more
