5-0 out of 5 stars Bought 2 copies, 1 to preserve & 1 to reread
I really didn't think much about it when I first picked up 'Beauty' to read. Then I could not put it down!Robin Mckinley took a very good but very old story and breathed beautiful, rich, grand life back into it!
5-0 out of 5 stars McKinley's best
Any teen who enjoys good fantasy should have this book on their shelf. If they don't, then then need to go out and buy it immediately.McKinley has written many works, beloved by teens, but her original and first published work, BEAUTY is by far her best.

NArnia THE LION , THE WITCH , and THE WARDROBE is a goodbook .
5-0 out of 5 stars Best Version of the Brilliant Classic Out There!
I'm in my late 30's and I've read this in full for the first time recently and I have to say that this is one of the best books ever written.I can see why this is listed among the top 100 novels since the 1920s by Time Magazine.Unlike many books for children, Lewis never dumbs down or talks down to his intended audience which means even the adult can fully appreciate the genius of his great story-telling and allegory.
5-0 out of 5 stars Sardonic, Interesting and Profound Reading
This novel is written rather sardonically but is captivating enough to keep the reader enthralled. It is actually very enchanting. The reader may also want to do some technical research on many of the absurdities it describes and uses. Significantly the reader should never fail to remember that this is a work of fiction but skillfully written. Its allegorical storyline is profound just the same ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Wrong again
I think it's sad how many people put there faith in SRW.This woman speaks of Christianity more than any other book I've seen.I've actually met one of her friends who say she gets a lot of grief for this. It's for a reason!!! I was told this was for Tolerance amongst religions...to I dunno say cover all her basis.Tolerance is great...I have many Christian friends...but when it comes down to it there is no point in trying to blend it with an already complicated religion.I myself am not Wiccan....I am Celtic Pagan...but have study both paths for 11 years. I've said my piece the choice is yours.

5-0 out of 5 stars A good place to start.
I have read a few reviews on here by people I feel did not actually purchase this book and were pre-judging it based on part of the pagan communities views towards SRW.I will agree that many of her books seem to be on the "fluffy" side, especially anything with "Teen" in the title. Here first series of books were very useful to those just starting out in Wicca or Witchcraft. She then submitted some books on the market, which I would not offer up to someone starting in the Craft.
4-0 out of 5 stars Cut Silver a Break
You either like Silver or you don't. This is the fourth book by her that I have purchased and I am not disappointed. There are too many books on Wicca out there that are a bunch of fluff. Silver may have a distinct personality and views on things-but she is not perfect people. You may not like some of her views but give me a break! We all have our own opinions. My advice is to glean what you will from any book and discard what you don't feel is pertinent to your practice. Stop being so critical! She does her best to be educational and informative, but also provides the reader with options to spellcasting and finding your path in your own time. I challange the Silver critics out there to write something better if you think you can. Otherwise do us all a favor and zip it. Use your energy for something more useful. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Did I mention I hate this book?
First off I just want to say I love a ton of books and I enjoy reading. With that said, I can honestly say this is the worst book I've ever read in my life. I do have something against Nancy Farmer and the hoodwinked reviewers on Amazon who positively rated this book because yes, it's that terrid. My "nice" 6th grade teacher forced my friend, three other kids (all girls), and me read this book for book club. This book is so bad that
5-0 out of 5 stars A VERY fun read.
My 10 year old son and I read this book and we both loved it. Three children of the elite class who have been protected all their lives venture out into the "real world" one day and the adventure starts there. They endure ALOT of hardship along the way but clearly learn something about themselves from each experience. I thought this book helped my son to question the "norms" of the world and reflect on some complex social issues like poverty and crime. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Enough to keep me entertained.
I just finished reading this book about an hour ago. I've read the other two and thoroughly enjoyed the easy to read writing and soft plot of the story.
3-0 out of 5 stars Bland.Kinda Boring.Not Much Happened.
This first two books in this series are rather cute and the storyline was fulfilling.
4-0 out of 5 stars Vampireville!
Alright so this book was great. Didn't expect it to come out until late August but I happened to spot it in the very last shelf of the fiction section. I thought the series would end at Vampirevill but I guess not.

This was soooo exciting. It's a book about one girl who tries so hard to fit in with everyone else, but everything just turns on her.
5-0 out of 5 stars Put Your Paws Together
This was a fantastic book, I found this in my local school library, which I was suprised to find it there after I actually read it. It took me two or three days to finish it, I could hardly put it down!
5-0 out of 5 stars Well...
I have to say that i really liked this book. Not my favorite. But good. Was kinda annoying when she actually turned right in front of him. I mean, what was he going to do besides scream? Take her into his arms and kiss her. Hairball. But whatever. Never fret. Had satisfying ending. Or so i thought.

5-0 out of 5 stars my review
I completely love Amelia Atwater-Rhodes writing. I can read her books over and over because I'm so drawn into the imaginative world. The contueing story of the world of shapeshifters keeps me asking for what going to happen next. In her writing we get to enter a world unlike our own but yet in some ways like it. It's hard to finish one book and have to wait for the next to find out what happens next but it's worth the wait.

3-0 out of 5 stars Third in the Series
Falcondance is the third book in The Kiesha'ra Series. Amelia Atwater-Rhodes is the child prodigy who wrote In the Forests of the Night at the age of thirteen.
5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Book!
This was a very good book, too! In this book, some loose ends from the first two are tied up, and it explains quite a bit. I really enjoyed the suprise at the end. I would definately recommend this book, but with fair warning to read the first two before reading this one. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars FRIEND OR FOE?
Ed, Al, and Winry return to Central Command and land plop in the middle of the latest Homunculi plot to frame their friend 2nd Lt. Maria Ross as the shooter in the murder of Lt. Col. Hughes. Colonel Mustang still isn't convinced that she did it and is still searching for the information his colleague was killed for. Meanwhile, Barry the Chopper, the serial killer whose soul was transplanted into an armored suit similar to Al, busts out of his safehouse where he was being held by Mustang and his crew for his own safety and information. Having a psychotic murderer on the streets is a bad thing. Expect to be left hanging as Volume 9 has a cliffhanger ending.
5-0 out of 5 stars Absolute Perfection
The ninth installment in the Fullmetal Alchemist manga series is nothing short of a reminder that Hiromu Arakawa is a genius. The way she blends comedy, political strife, character development, and plotline with an array of beautful artwork is amazing. The Elric Brothers have returned to Central to visit Maes Hughes, unaware of the tragedy that befell him. Someone in the military is blamed for this and Roy Mustang's thirst for vengence is quenched in a way that the reader will never see coming.
5-0 out of 5 stars Barry the Chopper, misplaced justice, and a really BIG cat! What will the Elrics face next?
Fullmetal Alchemist volume nine begins when the Elrics, Winry, Prince Lin, and his two guards travel to Central.Unaware of the recent tragedy, the Elrics and Winry want to visit Hughes and his family. To Ed's dismay, Prince Lin decides to tag along for the ride.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Greatest Green Lantern Story Ever Told?
To tell the truth, I didn't think they should do this. After the continually evolving changes of the past decade - the turning of Hal Jordan, the fall of Oa and the Corps, the introduction and progression of Kyle Rayner as Green Lantern, the return of Hal as Parrallax, the events of the 'Final Night' epic, the new incarnation of the Spectre in 'Day Of Judgment'.....to return Hal Jordan to the role of Green Lantern I thought would be, at best, clumsy; and at worst, a thinly-veiled scratching out of ten years of good stories to try and go back to square one.Happily, I couldn't have been more wrong."Rebirth" is perhaps The defining event of the GL mythos, strengthening rather than weakening all that had come before it, while opening up exciting new paths to the future not just for Hal but a whole host of characters. Not least of all The Spectre, who obviously went on to different territory outside the GL books again once no longer bonded with Jordan.
5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent starting point for a GL newb
I didn't know much about GL before going into this, but that has certainly changed! This comic is not only extremely informative (re: The GL mythos), but it is also an overall amazing read.I recommend it, not only to current Green Lantern fans, but also to anyone who reads comics at all! This is an absolute must-read!

5-0 out of 5 stars REBIRTH is Decidedly the best DC comic I've read since Nightwing: Year One

4-0 out of 5 stars An excellent installment of a fun, well-written series
Wizards at War is the eighth installment in Diane Duane's Young Wizards series. Weighing in at a hefty 560 pages, this book is not for the faint of heart. I don't recommend that you read it unless you've read the previous books in the series, because the author makes many references to previous books. However, if you are a fan of the series, you should run, not walk, to get yourself a copy of this book.
5-0 out of 5 stars An Expanded Role
Wizards at War (2005) is the eighth novel in the Young Wizards series, following Wizard's Holiday. In the previous volume, Nita, Kit and Ponch go on excursus to Alaalu and three other wizards -- Sker'ret the centipede, Filif the tree and Roshaun the humanoid King -- come to live in the Callahan basement.Dairine and her temporary house guests notice a little overpressure problem in the Sun and fix it.Meanwhile, Nita, Kit and Ponch discover a glitch in the Alaalid Choice and bring it to the attention of the only living wizard on Alaalu.Quelt modifies the conditions of the Choice and every Alaalid, living or dead, soon dematerializes and takes off for parts unknown.
5-0 out of 5 stars Young Wizards Fight
The young wizards series of books has had its ups and downs. With this book, the eighth in the series, Diane Duane has written a book to equal the first books in the series.Diane's story captured me from the beginning, and I was unable to put the book down as the story became faster and more urgent. This book is a must have for Diane Duane fans and those who have enjoyed other books in the young wizards series.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Book Of The Series!
Over the summer I read all of the books in the series by Laurie faria Stolarz. That included Blue is for Nightmares, White is for Magic, Silver is for Secrets, and Red is for Remembrance. My favorite one was Silver is for Secrets and that is the one I am writing about today. Laurie faria Stolarz put so much great detail into the whole series. I loved all of the books!
5-0 out of 5 stars Best but sadest book ever!!
This book was the best. I read it in 2 days, I couldnt put it down. You have to read it, but I made the mistake by reading this book befor I read White is for Magic or Blue is for Nightmares. So if I could go back Id read those first. And Im not going to spoil the ending for you, but its very surprising and made me cry for a LONG time. You HAVE to read it!!

5-0 out of 5 stars I think it's the best one!
I think that Silver is for Secrets is the best out of the first three books.I kind of predicted that Clara wasn't all that innocent.Mainly because she didn't really care about losing her life. She acted really childish and flirty.I never really liked her character. I never thought that she would do what she did at the end.Overall, this is a great book!

4-0 out of 5 stars Spider-Man: Year One
In the wake of the radioactive spider bite that turned a geeky High School student named Peter Parker into a would-be superhero, the murder of his Uncle Ben, and Spider-Man's previous battle with evil businessman Norman Osborne (the "Green Goblin"), Peter now finds himself supporting his widowed Aunt May by taking up a job selling photographs to the Daily Bugle's grouchy chief editor, J. Jonah Jameson, with Uncle Ben dead. Having barley survived the attack by the Goblin, Spider-Man explores the more urban side of evil by infiltrating New York City's underworld, and it's large, muscle-bound boss Wilson Fisk, the ruthless Kingpin, whom the man who shot Uncle Ben had ties to.
2-0 out of 5 stars People have lost their MINDS!
I'm not Bendis-bashing.I like most of the guy's work. But this series is flat, campy (not in a fun way), and just all around poorly-written.I still can't figure out why everyone's going crazy over this book. The artwork is nice, if you like your Peter Parker looking like an anime character with a butt-cut.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty scary and shocking near beginning
So , I read this while living abroad but I am thinking about adding it to my collection. It is not better TPB then Dark Phoenix, but it is fast paced and has in your face beginning: a group of superpowered beings who are well trained begins to hunt Morlocks. Not scarier than Inferno but near; end of the book is little slower, but the beginning beats every good action/shocker movie, including Predator, Terminator etc. which were the law when I was the kid.
4-0 out of 5 stars pretty good
in case you were wondering, this collection includes 10 issues: 5-0 out of 5 stars Really complete
If you want complete stories, then you are not going to do much better. If you want to see the X-Men in a state of war, then this is a far better storyline than the X-Tinction Agenda.Lots of mutants, lots of fights, and lots of poignant moments, from the injuries that led to the creation of Excalibur and Archangel, to Psylocke joining the X-men, to the death of so many Morlocks. The inclusion of Thor and Power Pack was well-handled.This novel can not be more highly recommended. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars A "Lord Of The Rings" knockoff
Well, I read most of the series in school, and was fairly impressed, but I saw to many resemblances to "The Lord Of The Rings". They had a wizard, a warrior prince, an elf, a dwarf, and a bunch of short people. Sounds familiar don't it? The next thing was that the characters were looking for a sword that could stop an evil being. What's the difference?!?!?!?!?!? Oh, a ring to stop an evil being.
2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing after all the hype
What so many other reviewers are saying about the slavish similarities to--and sometimes outright copying of--Lord of the Rings are right on the mark. True, Brooks dresses his world up differently, and adds few original touches (some of which aren't bad), but in the end this story simply fails to deliver anything new or even anything worth the time it takes to get through the 700+ pages of poorly-wrought prose. As John Gardner once said, it takes an authentic junk mind to write junk fiction, and the poor quality of the sequel bears testimony that Brooks doesn't improve a great deal after his debut novel.
3-0 out of 5 stars The second half of book is better
I read a lot of SF Fantasy...I love the stuff! Of course, I had heard of the Shannara series but never got around to reading it until now. Love, R.A. Salvatore, Margaret Weis, Dragonlance series, Raymond Heist...I could go on. Anyway, since this book is considered one of the best in the genre, I decided to read it. I must say I had a very difficult time getting into this book. I normally take about 1-2 days to read a book, this one took 2 weeks of reading a few pages, then putting it down. I thought the beginning was not very well paced and had way too much detail. The book did start becoming interesting in the middle and I completed that part in a day. I thought the writing was average and there were several plot holes but after the first half of the book, it was a quick enjoyable read. I have just started the second book "Elfstones of Shannara" thinking it was a sequel, but it is not. It has some background but the characters are generally related in some way to the previous books' characters. The one consistent character is the druid, Allannon. The character development was slow but I thought the main characters were fleshed out well, even if they were somewhat clichéd and predictable. The story revolves around a quest by Shea, a half-elf, to retrieve the Sword of Shannara to fight the evil presence that plans to destroy the world. The story includes trials, tribulations, adventure and eccentric characters he meets along the way. At various times the book is told through the eyes of variouscharacters in the book. I give this book a 3.5 and thought it was okay enough to try the next few books in the "series". ... Read more
