3-0 out of 5 stars An unorthodox high school geometry text.
I found this text interesting because it does not follow the standard approach to high school geometry. In a standard high school geometry text, the material is developedfrom Euclid's postulates (axioms) and common notions in the manner that he did in the Elements, albeit in modern language. These books generally cover much the same material, although some include right triangle trigonometry and transformations. The authors of this text choose to introduce their own postulates, which leads to a quite different development of the material and alternative ways of proving standard theorems.Having previously read a standard development of geometry, I found reading it developed in an alternate way fascinating.
5-0 out of 5 stars a very well written text
The text goes through all usual syllabus of high school geometry. All the subjects discussed have very important and basic applications. The authors don't try to give solid mathematical proofs to all theorems; but they just want to concieve the student in the best way possible and they have suceeded in doing so.I think this would work as a very interesting reading to anyone who really wants to learn about fundamentals of geometry.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the baffled high school geometry student!
"Geometry:A High School Course" is a fabulous textbook with concise, and sometimes even witty explanations of key concepts in high school geometry. With clear illustrations and diagrams to aid in manyimportant proofs and excercises, this book far surpasses Cliff Notes! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My son used this and S.A.T. tested high 90th percentile!
My 12 year old son has used Saxon materials at home for 4 years. His younger sister is currently using 8/7.It can be challenging, but they've been very successful! It's nice as a mother of 5 to have confidence in theSaxon program as it frees me up to deal with other things. If they have aquestion, it is easy just to review the short lesson and find the answer! If I could give it 6 stars, I would. Now my third child is also in Saxon. Thank the Lord for this effective curriculum. The results have been great! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A great math book for homeschoolers et al!
See my review for Spectrum Math Grade 7....
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Practice Book
If you are looking for a math book filled with practice problems, then this is the book for you. I am a private tutor and I am currently using this book with one of my students. This book covers many topics (for 8th grade). After each chapter there are tests, which is a good thing. Well, overall this a good practice book for 8th graders. Also, seventh graders can give it a try as well.
5-0 out of 5 stars This book helped me in math and can help you too.
I am sixth grader who is really into math. I think that this book really helped me go ahead. This book did not only help me go ahead, but I also got into advanced math.I have told many of my friends about this book and they have found it helpful as well. I give this book five stars and a two thumbsup. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Generic Title Here
Some of the best aspects of this book are: A) Many detailed color pictures that help keep interest and foster understanding B) Much more detailed than most how a car works book C) Set up as a school textbook, with ASE questions and summaries D) The author gets right to the point
5-0 out of 5 stars Modern Automotive Technology
I read this book as part of a college class, I enjoyed the detail and step-by-step education it gave. The ASE Review questions and chapter review helped pin point areas that needed more study. Two negative points I should tell you about there is no answers to the review questions in this book and no NATF Outline for areas you need to know per (ASE) areas of knollege, (A1-A8). For a Basic to Mid Level education in Auto Mechanics this book covered what was needed. In this Day of buying alot of books to get an education. Buying one well rounded book Helped keep the money in my pocket.

4-0 out of 5 stars Informitive and detailed
This book is great for the beginner or the semi-experienced.There is a lot of useful information and detail. Some aspects are outdated but overall the book is very accurate.Keep in mind this is a textbook and it reads like one. However, if auto mechanics is your interest then you should have no problem enjoying this book. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great for Learning Algebra 2
This book greatly enhances the algebra it teaches with many easy-to-follow examples, graphs, and pictures. Also, the topics included are very thorough. The text itself is very easy to understand, with multiple problems, including word problems, immediately following the text and examples. The back of the book has a section on using graphing calculators, a section on formulas that need to be memorized, and a section on how many formulas in math are derived. An index is also included. In addition to all this, the odd answers to almost all of the problems in the book are given in the back of the book.

1-0 out of 5 stars Complex and WORDY
I am a sophomore in AP Algebra2 and we are on the last year of using these books. They are nothing but trouble and have ridiculous scenarios.Their word problems are unusual in the fact that they use many non-useful termse.g., t=0=1991, which in turn can confuse any person!DON'T BUY IT! unless you just want answers!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Math Book
I use this book at school, and my teacher is great just like the book. I've used the passport then algebra 1 and now algebra 2. It is a lot easier to learn how to do problems and the layout is really great! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible.
This book is extremely confusing and has too much distracting information. It's sad that many schools use this as their text on physics. There is little to no math in this book to assist you, yet the review sections expect you to know the math to do the work. How is that possible?Terrible book.

1-0 out of 5 stars harmful
This book is complete nonsense. It reflects an ever growing ideology among the so called 'pedagogs' who themselves never understood physics. It can not even be considered a physics textbook. The book pressums utter stupidity on the part of the reader, and it is painful to think anyone besides 5-year-olds can be forced to read this.
2-0 out of 5 stars Better conceptual physics texts are available-
I've taught "conceptual" (fundamental) physics from this text at two universities and one community college.I have never liked the text - and this later edition has not changed my mind.(Don't let the catchy cover photo fool you.)Fortunately I no longer have to use the text.It is just too long and filled with too many topics for a one semester college level "conceptual physics" course.I don't think most college instructors who use this text ever make it through half the topics.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
This is an EXCELLENT advanced mathematics book. I am currently a high school student using this book on my own. Never mind the criticism of the "unclear explanations" in each section by the other reviewers. The book briefly states what is needed to do the exercises, and the majority of the "major" theorems in advanced mathematics are proved in the exercises themselves (in fact, that is why so many of the exercises are so challenging). In this way (other books just prove the theorems for you and allow people just to memorize the proof), the author allows you to figure things out for yourself. This book also has a wide scope. However, one tiny fault of this book is that it does not convince you of some of the important facts (and these theorems are definitely not beyond the level of the book), for example the "Rule of 72." Also, this book is not for the average person. It requires a lot of critical thinking. Therefore, if you are not a real math person, I would suggest you get this book along with another advanced mathematics book with more detailed explanations so that you can compare and contrast the two.

2-0 out of 5 stars Review From An Unimpressed Student
This book fails to give adequate examples at the beginning of each section and provide enough information about the given topic. Further, the examples that are provided are either 1) easy in relation to the actual problems in the "written exercises" section or 2) not relevant to the actual problems in the "written exercises" section. Also, the examples that are given sometimes miss key steps and are therefore confusing. This leads to much frustration. The actual problems though can be quite challenging and appropriate if the reader actual understands the basic underlying principles of the problems. However, the book on occasion supplies inaccurate or incorrect solutions to these problems (the odd number problems in the "written exercises," the "class exercises," and "chapter test" solutions are located in the back of the book).

5-0 out of 5 stars Makes Scientists of Science-Haters!
I do not have praise enough for Jay Wile's Science books. This book sets the stage for all the further Apologia courses with an introduction to science history, the Scientific Method, the correct process of scientific experiments, an analyzation of scientific dating processes, and the overall benefits of science via introduction to various branches.
5-0 out of 5 stars I am a (...)home schooler and I love this book.
At first I wasn't too interested in science. I never even knew that there was another science side. I thought that there was only Evolution. At first I thought "eh" with science, but I was actually lovin' it when Mom bought this book for me! If a parent or kid is reading this, I recommend buying it: It is very good and it will give you a choice: Believe Uniformitarians, or Catastrophists. Those two words you will learn about when you buy this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Top quality science text book.
Very complete and organized.Solid foundation of general science from a Christian perspective, without being sappy.Goes into The progress of Science,Scientific Inquiry, How to Analyze and Interpret Experiments, Applied Science, History of Life: Archaeology,Geology, and Paleontolegy. The Fossil Record, Uniformitarianism and Catastrophism, What is Life? The Human Body-Digestive System,Resiratory and Circulatory Systems,Lymphatic,Endocrine, and Urinary Systems, Nervouse Sytems. Energy and Life. All Experiments can be done in the home using house hold items, and have organized supply lists for each Module.Read more
