Makes you WANT to read the Bible...
The Bible normally seems confusing, rigid, and boring.This Bible is quite the opposite!The bible is colorful, easy-to read and UNDERSTAND!It definately makes the bible enjoyable and fun.The notes and other added things really help teens.I got this Bible as a 18 year old and still interesting at 19(although I am thinking about up-grading to a Woman's Bible). OMIGOD, this bible, like, ROCKS!
My mom says that when she was, like, a teen or something, she couldn't understand the bible because it said like "Thou" and stuff and other words that sound like books written by old people.That's why she went to the mall and got me this bible because it's more, like, modern or something?Whatever -- it ROCKS.

Better than Christian Rock

An expertly presented Christian guide

This is a great book!
This book is good for those who don't know much about their faith, or need more explaination from others. I enjoyed the book but I already knew much of it. It did explain some things better to me. If they were to make another book about faith, I hope it would go more in depth on the subjects they only seemed to touch in this book, and ask/talk about more thought provoking questions. I recommend this book to all teens in need of a good spiritual book. (And to those who said this book is to long, I believe that your religion is not something thatyou can write simply if you want it to make any sense to you... that is why this book is this way, long but each subject is to the point.)

BEST CHRISTIAN TEEN GUIDE OUT THERE!
I have read most of the Taste Berries for Teen books, and really liked them. This book has the same great stories, but is also very different. I guess some people wanted it to be more like the Taste Berry books, but how could it be? I want somebody who knows a whole lot more about life and God than I do telling me how to live the Christian walk. To me, the best section is how to bring God into all aspects of your daily living. I have questions about life. No book I've seen yet has answered my questions as well as this one does. I feel I understand what it means to be a Christian better now. ... Read more

This book is really tight!!!
This book is cool in so many ways. Around the beginning of the book, it tells about the Buddha and what he had done. The whole beginning part is the history of the Buddha. Including how he became the Buddha and who he was before that time. Then the author, around the middle of the book, tells what the Buddha taught. Including forms of meditation. I found this book real helpful in my life. I'm not Buddhist, but after reading this book, every time I get stressed out, I do somewhat of a meditation to get calm again. So if you're into this type of stuff, read this book.
I can't recommend this enough.
Out of all the "self-help" or advice books I've purchased or been given over the years, Buddha in Your Backpack is the only one I've ever been able to read without cringing, and the first with advice I've tried to apply to my life. The author presents Buddhism not just as a religion but as a set of ideas of which anyone can take advantage.
An Easy Read...Buddhism Plain and Simple
As a 40-something mother of 2 teenagers, I first picked up this book at the local library to pass time while my children researched school projects. As someone who has just spent the last 2 months with the works of Chogyam Trungpa, I was ready for a little "lite" spiritual reading. What I found was a book that, yes, was simplistic in word yet still provided ample room for contemplation. Excellent Little Book
Some qualifications for opining to start. I have read this book and I am a public school teacher with 9 years of teaching elementary school. I have a BA in Psychology and a M Ed.
Darwin would be Proud
This book, written by Henry Morris and Chuckie Darwin, gives new perspective of creationism.The science of intelligent design shows the blueprint used by an "intelligent designer" to create the universe.Periodically, the creatures designed, both evolved and changed.Monkey may or may not have evolved into man.But various creatures have changed as God planned they would.God can make these plans, because ... well, ... He is God!

Good for late elementary and early middle school
This is a good book if you want "just the facts".If you're searching for intimate details about the lives of these scientists or discussions about parallel universes, then this isn't the reading selection.Yes, written from a decidedly christian viewpoint ...so, what's the problem?If you are afraid or refuse to give God credit for creating the universe, then, again, this is not the selection for you.I like this author and publisher because we can present God and science to our children and not treat them as mutually exclusive. ... Couldn't put it down
This is a great book.I just wish there was more.It's a great faith builder and its not for just teens, it's for anyone.I'm looking forward to sharing this book with my kids.

Great reading
This is a very mis named book. It is not just for teens, but for anyone who needs a ray of sunshine in their life. In each of these true stories, we see God intervening in the lives of young people, often through angelic appearances, in such a way that lives are saved, or more importantly, changed. A runaway boy finds his way home, a hapless girl is able to escape an attacker in a way that could only be a miracle. A sister's prayer for her brother gives them extra time together. A girl who should not have even lived regains the use of her legs.Read more

a highly recommended classic
This is an excellent book. De Mello went far beyond the orthodox catholic dogma by addressing what (to me) is one of the most important practical and existential issues facing us: how does one learn to live one's life with the bittersweet delightfulness that accompanies us when we manage to be present and aware. In other words, how do we learn to become a free person.Typically, our awareness is clouded by others' expectations and by our desires to escape the perceived unpleasantness of the present moment. Excellent Book!
If you're looking for something for a single Christian...Girl or Guy, and the objective is to either encourage them to remain sexually pure for marriage OR you are wanting to renew your own comittment to do so, this book will definitely help you.Rebecca writes in genuine detail and shares great inspiration from others who have walked many of the same roads as we do each day.The stories will inspire and help to heal past mistakes in your life.Great BOOK!

Real and intimate book
RSJ is real in this book. I have read many "purity" books and this is by far the most real of them. It has real stories about her and others that anybody can relate to. The last chapter was also a great addition as a larger population of younger people are sexually active and the hope and forgiveness that can be found in the Lord is an important lesson. There is scripture that backs up her views, and while there are small parts that I might disagree with, I would hope that anybody reading the book would know their own lines that shouldn't be crossed. And because everybody is different the advice is a good outline to start out with. After reading this book, it made me realize my own convictions and my own motivations and start to exam them for the right reasons. RSJ is personal and connects to her readers though personal experience instead of being standoffish and preachy. A book I would definatly recommend for those seaching a pure life.

Still making a difference
This is still a great book for highschool D-groups or small groups. It is easy to read and hard to put down. The topics are perfect for discussion. My youth have commented, "its the only book that made me laugh out loud," and "this book is too dangerous to read!"

This book made a difference!
I am 13, and my father gave me this book, and asked me to read it.At first glance, I wasn't interested; it looked boaring, something for adults.I put it off for a couple of weeks, and then one day decided to give it a try.Starting on the first page, Tony Campolo, author of this book, put humor in.I loved it.I couldn't stop reading the book!I have now finished it, and definately recommend you reading it!It may look boaring, but just read the first few pages, and you will change your mind.On top of being funny, he also gets his point about dating, loving christ, and more. AMAZING BOOOOOK!!!!
This first semester I've been reading the Chicken Soup books during SSR time. One I enjoyed reading the most was the Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul IV, a nonfiction book. There are a few authors who submit their stories and they are all true. The authors who put the book together though are Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen, Kimberley Kirberger, and Mitch Claspy. The book is full of true stories different people go through and deal with. They're either about friendship, making a difference, relationships, lessons and learning, family, tough stuff, overcoming obstacles, and growing up. My favorites are the ones about friendships and relationships. The main themes of what I read were friendship, love, and taking things for granted. Those are things everyone does at one point in there life.
A Good Book for teens, but why such a long wait from the third one?
Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul books are usually inspirational.Teenagers can relate to their stories in ways unimaginable.It's a great book for teens to read so that they know that they're normal.It was why I read them when I was younger and why some stories still hold true today.
No matter what, you'll find a story that touches your heart
This book contains a bunch of short stories about teenagers lives.It's both inspirational and creative.It really feels personal, because it's written by people like you!

As soon as I read the title of this book, I wanted a copy.Then when I got a copy, I started worrying that I was one of those old and boring people.After all, I'm thirty-one, which isn't as old as, say, Methuselah, but isn't as young as any of those cuties on Dawson's Creek, either.But then I decided I'll probably always be young at heart (which basically means I'll be wrinkled and totally gray, and yet still want to learn to skydive), so this book could be a great guide to see what I've accomplished.

smart
in any situation, it is always my first instinct to play the victim. for example, if someone is making fun of me, I prefer to do nothing about it and just let him insult me. this is easier than standing up for myself, which for me is counter-intuitive and very challenging. even though i can rationalize my human nature, i cannot change it. for psychologists, this is good indication that i am depressed. my mind's ability to reason has led me to this harsh truth.
Harsh truths for some...
I really liked this book, because it really just tells it like it is.Sometimes, that can be really hard for others to face.We all like to believe that we are victims of others, but this book asks you to take personal responsibility for your own actions and feelings.
This is a good book.
Non-Christians and un-repentant sinners beware!You are about to get offended.This book is not for weak minded people that don't want to come to grip with the fact that their depression may be rooted in their own sinful thought patterns and behaviors.
