2-0 out of 5 stars Makes you scared
This book just basically tells you whats coming up in your future as a teen. That you gonna be confronted with drugs, sex, and other things, but it makes you sort of scared to be a teenager. Like it says you shouldn't hold hands because it leads to sex. Taking everything just out of proportion. Makes it sound like your going to burn in hell for doing the littlest things. I wouldn't recommend giving this to your child, or they might fear growing up. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Breaking Fetters
Fetter means "chain or shackle placed on ankle and feet".
5-0 out of 5 stars Finally Free
Many thanks to Neil Anderson and his book, The Bondage Breaker. I was in bondage to food for over 50 years, until this book set me free. Satan is very skillful in finding our weaknesses and creating havoc for us. The Bondage Breaker helped me to remember that Christ died for my sins, so I could finally be free. I have stopped believing all of the lies and started living again.I also lost 50 lbs. in the process. I would recommend this book to anyone suffering from any type of bondage. As Neil promises, "Take all thoughts captive to the obedience of Christ Jesus and the truth will make you free."

5-0 out of 5 stars Neil T. Anderson is as pure as pure gets!
This book is very helpful and inciteful. I was able to understand that I was not along with things that I was suffering. Jesus came to set us free. Free from what? Why did the Bible say that? We were all under Satans power. Why would we not have something that we need to be set free from? Don't let pride keep you from reading this book. Everyone can benifit from it. Even if you are a mature believer, you will be surprised at the change it can help make in your life. Be willing, open and honest - Jesus will set you free. Jesus is the deliver. Neil is a servent. He helps guide you into deeper understanding of who we are in Christ, and what has to change. Read it alone with the Lord, or have another Christian read along with you. Anyone who has not read this book is missing out. I read through the Victory over Darkness 1st. And this one, it has made a change in me. Thank you Jesus!Bless the buyer! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It has change my life!!!!
I think I came across this book because GOd knew I needed to read this amazing book..All of my life ive struggle with mean girls till this day I still do..Ive read this book and I couldnt put it down..yes it has a lot of repitions but its only to remind us whats important to keep in mind..Im really glad I came across this book..I just wish I could have read it when I was younger..I highly recommend it!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Good Book but a lot of repitition
Mean Girls by DiMarco has some great points to offer and she helps spell out what different kinds of mean look like.Unfortunately, she repeats a lot of the same information in different formats and the book becomes redundant.I have been using this book for a junior high small group and it became difficult to really get into any meat after the first 3-4 weeks. For an individual girl, I think it can be helpful to label the subtle ways girls can be mean and ways they can move beyond mean to live a life committed to God first.I appreciate the way she calls it what it is and challenges teens to raise the bar in how they are living.I think watching the movie, Mean Girls, adds more to the book, even though the two are unrelated.Overall, it is a decent book.

5-0 out of 5 stars telling it like it is
This book is what will heal those stupid teenage girls or young women that are in their 20's ruthless and become boring againg christians. These days women love to get the last word in every argument they are the reason why a more boys are shy around cause they make them feel un-welcome and men don't deserve that. Hayley is a genious. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars now obsolete--choice Trenchard's guide instead
For years this was the only resource of its kind avaiable, but now Warren Trenchard's "Complete Vocabulary Guide to the Greek New Testament" has totally replaced it.See my review of his book.Trust me, spend the extra money on Trenchard as he does everything Metzgar does plus lots more.

5-0 out of 5 stars My favorite Greek book, besides the little red Aland NT
This book is great for review and vocabulary refreshers.Small, charming, and concise, it used to sit next to my bed, desk, or bathroom sink, for when I had a free moment to study. It took only a few weeks to work through the words this way from beginning to end, and now it's (mostly) in my head, ready to use. After learning this little book, my facility in the Greek NT went up several grade levels. For extra synergy, use it in tandem with Kubo's lexicon, which picks up with the occasional rarer words where Metzger leaves off.But I usually just flip to the dictionary in the back of Aland, so I only need to carry around the one little red NT.Thanks, Dr. Metzger!(His Canon of the NT is great too.)

5-0 out of 5 stars Classic -- must have
If you're a serious (or even semi-serious) student of NT Greek, you'll want this book. A short list of vocabulary words, sorted and indexed several ways, gives you the information you need to start learning the most commonly used words immediately.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Move over St. Paul!
The Bible Geek is a disciple of Jesus Christ, a comic, a big brother, an evangelist, and a sinner, which makes his biblical reflections inspiring and transformational for teens seeking Christ amid the culture of death.Hart incorporates every aspect of teens' lives and his own experiences of living as a disciple into his writing and reflections on Scripture - truth and sincerity radiate each passage. His command of youth culture and ability to break open the Word of God lend to this book's incredible ingenuity and wit.To date, I have not come across a more usable Scripture reflection for teens.Regardless of religious affiliation, teens everywhere can relate to his perspective on modern-day discipleship. The Bible Geek is out to dispel a nasty rumor that Catholics don't know or understand the Scriptures!

5-0 out of 5 stars keep 'em comin'!
I've given this book to a handful of teens already and now I'm back on line to buy more copies to give away. That pretty much says it all. Finally, its the answers to the questions they've felt too dumb to ask and more questions they didn't even know how to ask. It's an awesome book - they love it.Heck, I love it - and I'm 25!

5-0 out of 5 stars Each Verse!
'Along the way He calls upon us to use the gifts He's bestowed on us for HIS glory, not for our own' (pg. 125). Mark Hart has clearly used the gifts God has bestowed on him by being able to pick apart a single verse from the Bible and transform it into something that fits each person that reads it! Many of us read the Bible all the time but never challenge ourselves enough to go deeper and read EACH passage carefully. Mark Hart, writing from his heart and experiences, makes the Bible fun to read and also applicable to our modern times. His humor, the personal touch he includes, and his deep faith in the church make this book a great resource for people of all ages. Mark makes reading the Bible memorable; I guarantee that the analogies he makes will stick in your mind the next time you read or hear the passage. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome book for teenagers...
This is especially for those just starting out in their walk with God. The designs and layout of the book are catchy and eye-appealing. This book is made to challenge teens to a higher walk with God. Great insight throughout it all. Was very much enjoyed!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Good for Christians early in their walk with God
I think this is an excellent book and would suggest it to many people.Unfortunately, i found it to be lacking in anything that would be help me becasue alot of it is challenging you to do things that many christians more mature in their walk of faith have already done.It would not apply to all teens, but it would apply to most teens. If it did apply to you, it would be a life-changing book I guarantee.

5-0 out of 5 stars Strong and Study for heavy usage.
This is the other bible I am currently reading, this is the one I carry in my backpack. It has a very study metal shell, thus it's name, it has a magnetic clasp to keep it closed. I pretty much killed a bible about every year to year and a half by carrying it around in my backpack every day. This bible solves that problem. It is small, compact, and very durable. The metal Bible comes in a variety of colors and designs I have this green one with the dog tags and my wife had my initials engraved in the dog tag before giving it to me as a gift a few summers ago. There are currently, 2 Silver designs, black, orange, red and hot pink. The NLT - New Living Translation is also a great reading edition, both this and the TNIV are newer translations based on modern scholarship and are very accessible to today's readers.
5-0 out of 5 stars red metal "Ignite" Bible
I bought two copies of this for Confirmation presents for two young men in our church.Love this product.Love the look of it.Love carrying this when I travel and the translation is provocative.Love the simple, readable style. Also enjoy the list of verses and stories in the back.Makes for quick reference.Like the red color and the title "Ignite."How could anything be more appropriate for Confirmation.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Bible that doesn't shout "religious"!

5-0 out of 5 stars chicken soup for teenage sould letters
chicken soup for the teenage soul letters is a book that has a lot of volumes. i really liked this book because it was very interesting. some of the stories were really sad and some of them were really happy.some people would talk about how their life was really bad and how they didn't want to live on this earth anymore and some were really happy love stories. this book was a book talking about real people and real things that happen to kids in their teenage year. when i read this i didn't get bored because it was very eye catching. it's like when you start reading it you just can't stop.
5-0 out of 5 stars Good idea
I often wonder if other people have the same response to something that I read. This book lets me know that people do.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Review
Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul: Letters is a collective book of responses to the first three novels of Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul. Each story is just as heart warming as the stories in the original book, but this time the stories are ones that occurred due to the previous books in the series. Each story delivers a heart felt lesson of an "oh well, I guess that my life isn't that bad after all, " or a "maybe I should change my life too". Many of the writers were going through times when they thought suicide was the best option or that there was no option at all, each writer then expressed their own reaction to the book and how their life was changed and put back on the right track. Within the contents of the book, I found some truly amazing and uplifting stories; one was about a girl suffering from the loss of her only sister and how each section of the book brought her to overcome her devastating reality. Another was about a girl who got copies of the book for the grieving students at Columbine. Each story was compelling, up lifting, and really let me see what living is all about.Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't address the foundation
I was given this by a Christian friend. We are trading books back and forth and exploring spirituality.I can completely see how this book speaks to the individual who already accepts all tenants of the christian faith. He is a good writer and is clearly passionate. However, sometimes passion can get in the way of reason.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent, Intelligent Reading
I really got a lot out of this book. It is refreshing to hear someone with high intellect and first hand experience dealing with the various religions to expound on this subject. Ravi Zacharias KNOWS his stuff and critics of his book more than likely haven't done the superb in-depth studying that he has on this topic. It is well worth the time to read, if you really want to know more about the various religions and what is really behind them . I would suggest that if this book makes one angry, that most likely it is because the truth often stings. Highly recommended reading!

5-0 out of 5 stars Real Real
I think the book really captures the messages a teen may share with God.The tone and the messages are right on track and I think that helps to make it "real" for those who read it.
5-0 out of 5 stars Teens will find an empathetic voice within these pages
As a mother of five children, one of whom is coming up on the teen years, I found Keepin' It Real a good reminder of the deeply-felt concerns of those no longer children but not yet adults. This is a genuine glimpse into the thoughts of a young person struggling to sort through some of life's toughest questions. It highlights the importance of the journey itself, and of keeping God always in sight. As I read it, I felt I easily could have been reading my own diary from my growing up years, when emotions were high and confusion an everyday feeling. Both parents and teens will benefit from a read-through of this sensitive approach to growing up in today's world.
4-0 out of 5 stars Humphrey is very real in her writing.
In Keepin' It Real, Sandra McLeod Humphrey covers topics teens are concerned with all the way from Athletic shorts to Zits. She really gets into the mind of a typical 13-year-old. But in reading this book, what I found to be most important, is that the questions and concerns and doubts that Leslie has, (for the most part) are those we all have even as adults. This book is easy to read and is an excellent one for any 13-year-old to have on their bookshelf. ... Read more

I'm a Catholic religious education teacher for high schoolers.I find this particular Bible to be a GREAT inexpensive Bible to give to junior high school, high school, and college-aged Catholic kids because not only is it an NAB (New American Bible, which means that it has very helpful footnotes, is a very accurate translation, gives great summaries and background info for each book of the Bible, and has the impramateur) but it also has a Q&A section at the front that is written in a style that teens will definitely be able to relate to and answers questions that will certainly come up for them at some pointabout the what and why of basic Catholic beliefs, dealing with depression, answers about premarital sex & chastity, abortion, drug & alcohol use, what Catholics believe about the Pope and why, what Catholics believe about Mary & the Saints and why, etc.I'm giving one of these to each of the graduating seniors in my class this year (I wish I could afford to give one to each kid in my class -- not just the seniors!)I'm also going to give it to three nieces who are graduating this year.I thought about giving them classier-looking fake-leather-type Bibles with their name imprinted on the front, but I think that this Bible will be much more useful to them in the long run because of the great Q&A section (about 100 pages or so) in the front; and even though I doubt that any one of "my" kids would pick up a Bible and read it now (they pretty much come to R.E. classes grudgingly and disagree with much of what the Church teaches about morality), I think that there will come a time when they WILL pick it up and browse through it, or look for specific answes in it.This Bible is an answer to my prayers to find just the right graduation gifts for these kids!(I had just about decided on "Did Adam & Eve Have Bellybuttons?" -- which would have been a great choice, too, although I really wanted to give them a Bible -- before I found this Bible.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Bible!
Easy to understand and very easy to read. This was my first Bible and I have since gone on to love reading all versions because of my strong base I received from this Bible.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful New Testament for teens
I am so sad that this version of the New Testament is out of print! I was happy to find three used ones at this site and I bought them right away to pass on to teens that would benefit from a wonderful, easy to understand contemporary English version of the New Testament. Before the new testament begins, the first 100 pages are also fabulous. They are filled with questions and answers for Catholic teens on their faith.I have bought one for each of my three children and my daughter has given copies to her friends. The New Testament is written in such an easy to read format, with solid Catholic interpretation in the margins.Teens need to have questions about faith, catholicism, sexuality, abuse, depression, the papacy, ..... (to name just a few of the questions and answers written about) answered in a truthful easy to read sensitive manner that is consistent with the teachings of Jesus and His one, holy, apostolic Church. What a joyful read!I hope it goes back into print in the future. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Sex Has a Price Tag
Pam Stenzel has to be the most out of touch author on teenage sex there is. She is in a cloud and cannot seem to relate to the reality of sex today. I have heard her speak at a high school, and she was factually inaccurate and totally biased against any sex. She is an anachronism.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for teens
This is an excellent book to help show teens that waiting until marriage to have sex is best for them. She goes into the health info and clearly lays out the problems teens face when they do not wait to have sex.

5-0 out of 5 stars The startling Reality

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Godly Intro To Dating
This book has been very helpful to me; it has opened my eyes into what the opposite sex really wants and doesn't want. This book has solid advice and common sense principles that will make sense almost as soon as you read them. And it reveals all of this and more in a Godly way, making this a sure book for any Christian teen who is wondering what dating is all about!

4-0 out of 5 stars The Best Autobiography by Far! by Sammy K. 4th Grade
I am Jewish, and I learned a lot from this book. I learned about life in Warsaw, and about the time period around World War I. It shows how that time compares to this, and how much more we have now than back then. Lots of people take electric lights for granted. This book shows what it was like to live through freezing weather, hunger, and stress about war.
5-0 out of 5 stars The childhood of a master story- teller
Singer just has it. These vignettes of his childhood do not have the emotional power of his greatest stories but they are rich with life, insight and humor. And somehow he tells stories even when he is making simple descriptions of his early life. This work too tells the pain and poverty of his childhood and the difficulty of his parents' lives. It is too a tribute to a world - gone .
5-0 out of 5 stars I read this for a 6th grade book report and loved it!

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT BOOK
this is a great book i dont read much because of time but this book i like and recomend to parents of teens and teens themselves.

4-0 out of 5 stars a little too much
I'll be frank: this book is graphic.Parts of it are R-rated.I'm not joking. It goes into more detail than an issue of Seventeen or YM or CosmoGirl! Or even Teen People. It is one peg above "Deal With It!" from Gurl.com.It is a very frank, very honest book. What separates it from the rest is that it comes from the Christian perspective. It talks about God, and what God thinks of premarital sex. The author is not preachy, instead he says that the decision is yours. Its up to you, he says, to make the decision not to have sex and to remain pure. He does warn about some of the possible consequences. But this book also talks about masturbation, oral sex (details here), homosexuality, STD's, condoms (including misuse of condoms), the rhythm method and popular tactics used to avoid going "all the way."While abstinence is preached, I found that this book went just a little too far.I have a gut feeling that my parents (who were fairly liberal when it came to raising me and my brother, i.e., listen to whatever music you want, no curfew) would not have let me and my brother read this book when we were sixteen. Why?Because there is a little too much here.I recommend the books Dateable and The Dateable Rules instead-they are both written by the same author (with Hayley Morgan DiMarco) they are a little less detailed and get the same point across as this book does. ...
