3-0 out of 5 stars Autobiography of a Canadian-Anglo-Indian

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
You will feel the urge to keep turning the pages of this book, not just because of the incredible events of his life, but because of the humility and candor of Ravi as he shares his life story. The power of the gospel is woven through the fabric of his life and every life he touches.I began following Ravi's ministry and writings when I was 18 and have never lost interest. He has a tremendous passion to reach every mind with the gospel. Please read this book - you will be very glad you did.

5-0 out of 5 stars You Will Probably Enjoy This as Much as You Enjoy His Radio Shows. Ravi Listeners will Enjoy This Autobiography!
I really enjoy hearing Ravi Zacharias on his weekly radio show. He is probably the most intellectual of any of the radio preachers that I hear broadcast on Christian radio in my area. Ravi is from India, but he converted to Christianity as a teenager in India, and his missionary career consists of intellectually applying logic to support Biblical concepts, to audiences across the globe. That's my explanation of what he does, at least. So when I heard he had an autobiography out, I was curious enough to check it out.

5-0 out of 5 stars Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul 2 is great
Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul 2 is a great book for teens because it is something we can relate to. It is filled with short anecdotes written by teenagers or once-teenagers about their adolescent experiences. It is inspirational and teaches us about who we are, about people, and about life in general. I recommend this book for all teenagers. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Chicken Soup For the Teenage Soul: The Real Deal School
After reading this book, I found all of the stories included in this compilation very touching. I liked how each short story aimed to teach a little life lesson. The inspiration that these stories carried along with them made me realize how much this book was worth reading. I also enjoyed reading the quizzes and tidbits of information on various topics. The only complaint I would have against this book would be the authors' anecdotes from their own lives. They attempted to relate to teens, but fell short when it came to accuracy. It has been a while since they have been teenagers, and many things have changed in high school. Not only that, but their stories proved to be a bit dull. Other than that, I really did enjoy reading this book, and I look forward to reading other books in this series.

2-0 out of 5 stars BIG shock!
When I first heard about the Extreme Teen Bible, I went straight to Google to look for it. Well, let me tell you something: When you type "extreme teen" into Google, you do NOT get anything about the Bible! I was so shocked that I forgot all about Jesus for about 11 minutes. I really don't think any Bible that puts the words "extreme" and "teen" in the same sentence is very helpful. It's not like people need any more ideas that will send them to Hell! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Help for parents and Teens
Sexy Girls: How Hot is Too Hot? by Hayley Dimarco with Bible quotations throughout is written for the Christian teenage girl, and every parent of one will be so happy it has been written in down-to-earth teen language by a young woman who is good-looking and very successful and has BEEN THERE, so she understands what is going on with girl's and women's fashions of today. She explains how what a girl wears screams to the world how she is marketing herself! She explains in plain language what showing flesh in certain areas does to the males that see it. "They are turned on by what they see...Showing off more than you are willing to give is what we call false advertising."Dimarco discusses how males react and what they expect from the way girls dress; what tatoos, belly button rings, tongue piercings, cleavage, and low-rise pants and high-rise underwear of today's fashion scream to men, and how girls, because they have no testerone on the rampage, are clueless of what their attire is saying about them. The book offers excellent self analysis of wardrobe and self-concept and great suggestions of how to put together a look that is complimentary and stylish and gives the real ideas of who you are. The book is an EXCELLENT and much needed guide through the minefield of today's popularity for teenage girls, as well as adult females!

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have for any girl needing a crash course in modesty
"Sexy Girls: How How Is Too Hot?" was just what my husband and I needed to break through to my 17 year old daughter. Her dressing habits had been inching away from the modest choices she had been making the last few years. We think it was her getting ready to go to college and feeling some independence coming, and Hayley's book gave her a much-needed course correction when our exhortations fell on deaf ears (and midriffs.)
5-0 out of 5 stars Finally someone is saying it well!
"Sexy Girls" by Hayley DiMarco is one of those books that you wish you had back when you were a teen.Instead of fuddy-duddy puritanical "tho shalt not be sexy" preaching, Ms. DiMarco uses common sense, culture savvy advice as her first line argument then backs it up with scripture.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent book
ok look....justin lookadoo isn't saying that EVERY single relationship won't last.what he is saying is that there is a VERY high chance that it won't last....soooo don't do things you aren't ready to do...to keep a relationship that isn't likely to last anyways.I absolutely loved the book.I told all of my fellow teenage Christian friends that they HAVE to read it.and by the way...my school is pretty small....and the guys and girls hang out together a lot.We hear about all of their dating disasters....When girls call them first they don't really like them...they just use them. Now, I'm not saying that there aren't any exceptions but this is what normally happens. So, stop dogging Justin Lookadoo for trying to help us....
1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money
I bought this just as a summer read, I've been dating the same girl for well over a year and can say that our relationship is truly different, we do Love each other, and so on and so forth. This book basically says its impossible to do any of this, actually if you ever want to date ever don't read this book becaues it really should be dirrected to non Christians that have no idea how to date. This book actually made me half mad becuase it was so sterotypical "girls even Christian guys just want to get in your pants"what? No wonder the world is a messed up world today. It sounds like the authors to this book had a bad relatinship in their teen years and wrote a book to discourage dating from everyone else even though they said they incourage it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Total Loser
They have some things right (i.e. that some girls are too forward in relationships with guys; that some guys only have the physical aspects of a dating relationship in mind; that the closer you are to the person you are dating, the harder it will be WHEN - and not IF - you brake up; that most marraiges between highschool graduates and under-graduates are bound for problems, etc; etc.). But it remains unclear to me what the benifits of dating as it is defined in this book actually are. Fall in love. Sprinkle the relationship with a little - but not too much! - kissing and stuff. Get bored with the relationship. Brake up . . . cry over it . . . find someone else. May I ask, to what purpose? For the pleasure of the moment? Yes. And for those with a sensitive concience, a lifetime of regret. I think dating can be a good thing if done in an appropriate way, but braking someones heart is NOT appropriate. See my review on I Kissed Dating Goodbey. ( I gave it three stars .) ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great with Devotions
I read a story a night from this book after we read devotions at the dinner table. We all love the stories. Some of the stories our sad and make you think. Some are funny like the Lesson in Lavendar story which is one of our favorites on Compassion and Forgiveness. This storyjust happened to fit right with our Devotion readings from Sticky Situations 2 another great book. The book is geared for teens but we all can relate to the stories and enjoy them.
5-0 out of 5 stars Chicken Soup!
I absolutely love all chicken soup books and this one was equally amazing. I thought that Chicken Soup for the Christian Teenage Soup was very well written. The stories were very realistic and I think that anyone could relate to them. It covered everyday issues like school, family, friends, and just faith in general. In short this book is very heartwarming and can be read by most everyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Practical & Easy to Read
Excellent translation, easy to read and understand. The metal case is unique and great for travelling. It protects the pages and keeps bookmarks and papers from falling out.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for Wear and Tear.
This is the other bible I am currently reading, this is the one I carry in my backpack. It has a very study metal shell, thus it's name, it has a magnetic clasp to keep it closed. I pretty much killed a bible about every year to year and a half by carrying it around in my backpack every day. This bible solves that problem. It is small, compact, and very durable. The metal Bible comes in a variety of colors and designs I have this green one with the dog tags and my wife had my initials engraved in the dog tag before giving it to me as a gift a few summers ago. There are currently, 2 Silver designs, black, orange, red and hot pink. The NLT - New Living Translation is also a great reading edition, both this and the TNIV are newer translations based on modern scholarship and are very accessible to today's readers.
5-0 out of 5 stars An amazing, fancy looking great Bible...Buy it!!
This is one of the greatest looking Bibles I've seen so far, I desided to purchase one and it looks and feels great. A very nice edition to purchase. It is definately a good choice for a gift or for yourself. The bible will always be a good gift but this goes a mile further cause the look is impresive and well done. I highly recommend it for those who take their personal things seriously and like good, high quality stuff and gifts.

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful little book with daily readings and thoughts
This is a fun book to flip through. It is laid out really well - on each set of pages is a full New Testament and Old Testament reading, plus a comment by a Christian leader and then a couple questions for you to ask yourself and think about. I really like that the book is small and padded hardcover so it's very easy to carry around and read. It also has a cute black ribbon for marking your favorite page/last page read. If you are giving it as a gift, it has a page where you can fill in TO, FROM and OCCASION for which it was given - a nice extra touch. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great short resource for students
I give this four stars only because many of the days don't include anything beyond the scripture passage and a quote. The days that do, however, provide excellent devotional thoughts.Along with this, the entire framework of the Bible is covered in only minutes a day. What more can be expected of one book (outside of the Bible itself?).5-0 out of 5 stars Great way to get to know God's Word...
I got this book when I started to deepen my faith and found it as a great way to learn the Bible. Every day, there is a story from the Bible that includes scriptures to look up that apply to the story and a fun thing such a verse to memorize or a profile on a person in the Bible. I have since passed it down to my sister and she reads it every day. A great book with great intentions.

5-0 out of 5 stars Big hit with my daughter!
I bought this for my 13-year-old.Even though the reviews were very positive, I worried about how successful of a gift it would be as my daughter is a no-nonsense girl who does not like fluff or mushiness. But she loves it!She reads it faithfully every day, and it's been a great conversation starter as she tells me about the "lesson" of the day.For her, it's just the right mixture of straight-forward talk and sensitivity without being to childish.

5-0 out of 5 stars Honestwisdom, great comfort, easy format
I am a family counselor andI recomend this book for my teenage clients and their parents. It is full of comfort. Like a big sister whose just been through all the trials of being a teenager herself, Amanda is able to offer a perspective thatparents and other adults can't. The formate ishelpful and user friendly. The reader can look up any topic in the contents and read one page or many on subjects ranging from boys, to peer pressure, to parents. This book encourages girls to listen to their ownvoice instead of following the crowd. It encourages each girl tomake choices that satisfy themselves.

5-0 out of 5 stars Inspired
The book Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul Three really inspired me in many different ways. When I started reading this book I couldnt put it down for a second without wanting to pick it up again. This book has ben very helpful and useful to me. The book talks about real problems and stories that teens have sent to the publishers and published in their book. It's nice to have us young people writing stories and having them published for others to read them and be inspired. When ever you get the chance you should read this book so you can see what's so great and inspiring about his book.

5-0 out of 5 stars greatest book ever!!
This book was totally awesome and I advise people to read it. It was one of the best books I have ever read and it gave me alot of advice through the very interesting stories they provided. This book was my favorite out of the "chicken noodle soup for the teenage soul" series. I really enjoyed reading it, for me it was one of those books that are so good you can't put it down. I really recommend this book if you like real life situations where you can really seem to realate to at least some of the stories. It feels like you have been in these sort of situations before and the stories kind of put you in the other person's shoes. This book made me feel sorry or happy for the main people in these stories and they made me think about my life and if I am hurting people or I made them feel the way some of the characters do. Long story short I really loved this book it had romance, tragedy, horror, suspense, and well... you get the idea, but it made me love it and I am sure if you read it you will feel the same as I did about this book.

3-0 out of 5 stars worth it for finger paints and crayons
This book overall was not as good as the first two but it's worth it for the piece called "Finger Paints and Crayons" a beautifull written poem about how sad it is to live in a world with racism. That one touched me the most, I haven't read the book in years but that poem is one of the things I remember about it. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Amanda's Review of Chicken Soup for the Teen's Soul on Love & Friendship
I like the Chicken Soup for the Soul books, and I liked this one in particular because it was written for teens. It was, I believe, the first one I read for teens, and I enjoyed reading very much what other teens had to say. On the other hand, though, many of the stories are similar, so after I had read a few, they got a little bit reptitious. Overall, though, it was a good book.

This book is a very good and interesting book to read. It has a lot of personal stories in it that help other people who are going through the same problems understand that they are not alone. The book covered many different topics and I think that's what made it so good. The different topics were; Falling In Love, Breaking Up, Friendship, Tough Times, Family And Love, Acts Of Kindness, and Growing Up. All these things are very critical to a teenager and this is what they all go through.

4-0 out of 5 stars Start with chapter one!
This book is pretty much as the Booklist review describes. It is worth noting that the book begins with lengthy forwards and prefaces which I found wordy, ponderous, and a bit moralistic. I began to fear the book would be the same. Not so! when you finally get to chapter one, the pace picks up and the tone and diction become lighter and much friendlier to a high-school level of reader. Far from being moralistic, the author deals with a variety of real issues that young people have to face, and does it in a frank, sensible, easygoing and very constructive fashion. The book should be a help and a comfort to many in its target audience.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great, great book!
I have been learning about Buddhism for a couple of years now and bought this book for my teenage daughter, in hopes that it would inspire her to join me. She hasn't read it yet, but I decided to pick it up off her shelf one day and read it myself. This book changed my life. It is written in very simple, easy to understand terms. I felt like Diana Winston was a good friend, walking the path with me and explaining things along the way. I loved it. And I am still hoping my daughter will join me!

5-0 out of 5 stars This book worked miracles for our 15 years old teenager
Our son was in very hard times, struggling to come to terms with the low values (if values) of modern society, modern music and his own background and values. With 14 he went into extrem aggression and anger. He sought refuge in hard rap, which on one side helped to work anger off, but fueled it from another side. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Teen Survival Guide indeed!
Vicki Courtney discusses real concerns of real teen girls frankly, truthfully and honestly without sounding preachy. I especially liked the chapter on eating disorders and fashion and the assurances that what's depicted as trendy in the fashion magazines is far from reality. She lets girls know that it IS okay to be normal....with a far more accurate portrait of what "normal" really is in today's world where girls are constantly bombarded with messages to be sexy and thin instead of simply enjoying their youth. An excellent resource for Christian parents and their girls, and for anyone else with a daughter. This is a great book for moms and daughters to read together, and would make a great gift tweens and teens. Highly recommend.

4-0 out of 5 stars Looks like a magazine; offers great advice
Looks like the best of teen magazines but carries real-world advice with a Christian perspective.I really liked this book!It had good, but not judgemental advice on everything from clothes, pierced belly buttons, tatoos and friends to boyfriends, sex and beauty. It doesn't go into explicit details... but it offers solid advice for teen girls growing up in tough times.I think maybe the best section is quotes from teen guys talking about what they wished teen girls knew!I plan to give this magazine/book as a gift. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Devoted fan
We know two of the wonderful girls who participated in this book. It's been a great way to share the word of God with other girls. The many topics the devotional covers are important for both teens and their families. We have given quite a few of these books away to cousins and friends. The author, Patti Hummel, has put together a great collection from the young contributors. ...
