1-0 out of 5 stars Too many errors
I was using this book to help students prepare for the math section of the ACT.In my first day of preparation I found over a dozen errors in the math tests alone. There were problems with multiple correct answers listed, problems with no correct answers listed, and erroneous reasons given as explanations. This is the worst ACT prep book that I have seen ... Editorial Review

The essay is the one part of the college application that allows an admissions committee to get a glimpse not only of what you are (grades, scores, club member), but of who you are."Applicants are constantly advised to 'put their best foot forward,'" says Fred Hargadon, the dean of admissions at Princeton University and a contributor to this book. 5-0 out of 5 stars BUY THIS BOOK!
Before I bought this book I thought my essay was pretty good until I bought this book. Then I knew that I could make my essay even better just by just following the essays in the book.I didn't even think I needed to get a guide book for my essay because I thought it was pretty good already without help from an essay book. But apparently this book worked really good because I did not get deferred from college!I got into my first choice just by using this book and I recommend it to anyone even to those who do not think they need a guide book for their essays because they think their essays are already pretty good like I thought mine was.1-0 out of 5 stars uninventive and most unhelpful
There are a few gems here, but for the most part, these essays are the same well-written but dry, uninventive slop every other high school senior dribbles out: how the abroad student haf a Life Changing Experience! how an athlete Crossed the Finish Line! how when pet Fluffly croaked it was a Formative Experience! If you really want insight into how to write a well-crafted, unique essay, with sounds suggestions, seek out the great book by Harry Bauld. ... Read more

I am taking Stat 244 after taking the first class 5 years ago. I needed a review to catch up, but I am finding that this is much more comprehensible than the textbook and the instructor. Nice and straight forward... Makes you wonder why you need to spend $80+ for a used textbook in college when you can learn it more efficiently from this little guy...THANK YOU!!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars College Board College Handbook
We used this book to help my daughter pick the colleges she would apply to.The book is a wealth of information about every 2 and 4 year college in the United States. At a glance you can find out the cost, academic offerings, SAT scores, clubs and organizations and ethnic makeup just to name a few.I highly recommend it to anyone applying to college.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great college resource
This book has everything I've needed so far, although the college search has just begun. It gives a lot of information that I wouldn't have expected.I know we could look at one in the library, but it is great to have it as a reference at home whenever I think of a school and/or quandry.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent study guide
I took my SATs the first time without this book and did not do bad, but it could have been better. I bought this book and studied it, then took my SATs again. My scores went up dramaticaly and I had a better understanding of my answers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Now Officially worthless.

5-0 out of 5 stars Friggin' Incredible.
This book got me through a very grueling high school chem class. It is very easy to understand. I can't put my finger on it, but something about the way this book is written just makes understanding come naturally for me.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great resource!
This book is very helpful for people trying to grasp the basics of chemistry.I'm one who really loves science, but I get a little bogged down in the details and calculations involved, so this book helped me get through the tough math.To me it reads like a textbook, only it cuts out all the filler, so it's very easy to find what I'm looking for, and the descriptions are clean and to the point.

5-0 out of 5 stars Chemisty Cliff's notes

4-0 out of 5 stars A good help for any struggling Math student
This book helped me achieve a higher score after I went through half the workbook. I increased my math score from a 610 to 700 in 3 weeks. This book does do wonders. However, some of the explainations of the problems and how to work them are vauge and really don't give you a sense on how to apply them to other problems with the same underlying concept. In conjunction with this book, I would have to recommend Kaplan's SAT 1600 and Kaplan's SAT II Math IC for mastery of harder questions and for more review.

2-0 out of 5 stars Vague Explanations
This book contains very good practice material but the explanations to the answer choices are very vague and difficult to understand.
5-0 out of 5 stars Buy this book!
I would definately recommend that you buy this book. The practice that it gave me was extremely helpful, as well as the "SAT Math in a Nutshell" section. The format was easy to follow and true to the SAT, giving me plenty of practice, and help where I needed it.It improved my math SAT score 50 points - from 630 to 680.And I only did about half of the book!Imagine if I had worked through the whole thing. It's not hard, however - the book is designed so that you only tackle one (approximately) 30-minute section at a time.Just remember - for best results, make sure that you start using this book 3 weeks to a month ahead of time.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of Time and Money
Reading this book is a waste of time; a review book cannot teach you how to answer multiple choice or essay questions as well as a teacher.I found the multiple choice questions on the exam to be much more difficult than the practice questions in the book. And by the way, on the back of the book it says thay it's a guide for the AP Lit exam instead of the AP Language exam.

2-0 out of 5 stars Umm....Not really....
I bought this after experiencing McGraw-Hill's SAT I book. It was comprehensive and effective, yet not boring. However, this guide is not only brief and anemic in actual content, I found myself asleep several times while reading it. The websites at the back of the book are not only inaccurate, but may actually be fake. Being a computer nerd, I found no indication that any of the websites HAD ever existed (with the exception of the College Board site); this book was published in 2002, why is there no indication of some of these sites in a search engine cache, links off some other site, etc? There isn't even any indication that any of these sites are planned for the future: absolutely none are registered web domains. Furthermore, the strategies for the multiple choice are VERY basic common sense. A whole page is spent on the concept of elimination of answers that aren't correct. The ONLY redeeming factor is a slight review on rhetorical strategies that actually aided me in the DBQ.
5-0 out of 5 stars 5 Steps to a 5 on the A P Examinations: English Language
Both AP English Language students and instructors need to have this text on their book shelves.Terrific review activities are useful throughout the year, as are the unbeatable introductions to rhetorical strategies, etc.The workbook sections are very accessible. Sample tests and the explanations of answers and essay ratings are clear and really prepare AP students for the exam. This book is a MUST HAVE. ... Read more

Getting a 700+ on the SAT2 requires more than just a review book, it requires study. This book is a great help if you learn the material, and take the practice tests. You go in feeling prepared and knowing how to manage your time.No magic bullets, just good preparation and practice with this book works miracles. The book doesnt teach you chemistry- it teaches you college board chemistry- all its going to teach you is how to put what your teacher said into SAT format and get the right answers- it works! ( i got a 710 !!!)

5-0 out of 5 stars Maximizing Resources with Program Prioritization
Dickeson's book is a comprehensive manual for academic administrators at all levels who need to maximize resources because of cutbacks. Since the most likely source for needed resources is reallocation of existing resources, he suggests a means to prioritize programs so administrators can make well-informed decisions. Dickeson's ideas have a firm basis in practical applicaitons. He has served as a university president and is currently president of a consulting firm that has guided hundreds of colleges and universities through program prioritization. This book contains checklists at all stages of the planning process plus samples of actual priortizing plans and is a very useful resource not only at the institutional level but for any program undergoing review. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Preparing for the CLEP
Thie book was very helpful with the basics. I just passed the CLEP today and got a 67 (out of 80). You need a 50 to pass for most schools. If you want to pass this CLEP Irecommend purchasing online practice tests. I bought one from the official CLEP webiste. The questions on that practice exam are very close to the ones that you will find on the CLEP exam. Also, I purchased a practice test from petersons.com. These questions were definitely harder, but really get you preapared for the CLEP. Once you take those, the CLEP is a breeze. Good luck!

1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible Product
These are great flashcards unless you actually want to learn and pass your microbiology class. Not only is the content poor, several of the cards in my pack were improperly printed with half the text cut off.No wonder they come sealed in plastic at the bookstore, if I had had the chance to look at them before I bought them i would have known better. They do work well for leveling a wobbly table though.
