5-0 out of 5 stars Harder questions
The questions are harder in this book than on the actual test. By doing these practice questions, I felt that the test was a breeze. I didn't start to study for the test until the day before the test. When I cracked the brand new book open that night I freaked out because the questions were so hard. I only managed to get a 750 on the test, but considering I only studied 24 hours prior, I say this book is a life saver.

5-0 out of 5 stars SAT IIC
This book makes the SAT II Math IIC an EASY 800...I answered every question and finished with 20 minutes left (a 60 minute test).Needless to say, I got an 800.The real test is much easier than all in this book, and there is a lot that you do not have to learn in this book.Ask your teacher which sections you don't need to study, so that you don't waste your time. My scores on these practice tests ranged from 680 to 740.

5-0 out of 5 stars Useful Preparation for SAT IIs
This book gives a lot of practice tests compared to others and also gives harder tests. If you can do well on these tests, you can definitely do well on the real thing. There are several mistakes throughout but they don't create any serious issues. Do the tests over and over again it really helps. Using this book I was able to get an 800. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome reviews on things you'd forgotten along with great tips
I bought this book along with The Real ACT Prep Guide and have found this book to be much more useful. I already understood the basics of the test, but I was looking for something to refresh me on all those little rules I'd forgotten in school. This book did just that. It is a great reviewer, especially in the English and Math sections.
5-0 out of 5 stars It got me into college
The ACT for Dummies is a great ACT study guide. The Math section totally refreshed me and was very valuable when it came to test time. But what really made the ACT for Dummies book so good was that it was full of really cheesy humor. This humor helped keep me reading a book that would otherwise be extremely dull and positively unbearable. I wouldn't be at the University of Michigan without the ACT for Dummies!2-0 out of 5 stars Errors
It's fun to read and it's a good prep.Unfortunately, the practice tests contain several errors. So far, I have only taken the english and the math sections of the first test, and I have found three errors.(And this is only on the first two of eight practice sections!)I have the 3rd Edition and these problems might be different in other editions.Feel free to dispute me.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing resource for anyone involved in higher education.
I am lucky enough to go to a school which made the Top 100 and am quoted in the synopsis of my school. As co-president of our Undergraduate Gay-Straight Alliance, I plan to use this book to bring to the administration's attention areas in which the school is lacking and work to improve those areas. The book also has a lotof information for High School students selecting a college, administrators at colleges looking to better support LGBT students, and student leaders looking for help in planning events. If you are at all involved in higher education and want to make your school better for LGBT students, buy this book, read it, and loan it to everyone you know.

5-0 out of 5 stars The future is now!
This books time had come years ago, and I am SO glad to see that it is finally here. Alas, it's too late for me as a college graduate, but I like to know that future college students will know what to look for when picking a colle or university. This is a must for any HS guidance councelor or therapist or doctor or...well...anyone! It's a great tool and easyto use and understand!

5-0 out of 5 stars Important research tool for students and administration
This book is great for those looking at their university of choice and administraitions to see what they need to do for their LGBT students. As someone stated before, I wish this information was available years ago. However, it will help me as I research the university I plan to work in as an administrator or academic. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the BETTER AP French prep book
After struggling with other French prep materials, I was delighted to see an alternative on the market. I was more delighted that the book was decidedly more useful. Bravo! Specifically let me say that:
5-0 out of 5 stars This Book REALLY Works!
As a high school student planning to major in French in college, I knew the importance of succeeding on the AP French Language exam. About a month before the exam was scheduled to take place, I purchased Ellen Knauer's AP French practice book, and I found that it really helped me prepare for the test. I practiced for about twenty mintues each day, by simply going over the sample exercises and listening to the various dialogues included on the book's CD's. By the time I took the test, I felt well prepared and confident in my abilities to express my knowledge of French while taking the exam. Since the formats of the practice tests are exactly the same in the practice book as the real exam in early May, each section was easy to complete and I even had time remaining before I was required to stop after each section of the test. Although I have not yet received my scores, I feel very confident that I earned a five as my total weighted grade on the AP French exam. I would not only recommend the book to anyone who plans on taking the exam in early May, but I would also recommend it to anyone who would like to practice or "brush up" on the different materials it covers before entering at the college level. The book showed me the areas I was weakest in, and it made me stronger at the subjects I already knew fairly well. I would recommend this book without reservation to anyone. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Poorly written, not edited
This book was horrible. I bought it for the practice tests, and not only did they repeat the same questions in the same tests on occasion, there were many cases where words were mispelled, or key parts of the problems (such as graphs) were left out completely. This book was of shoddy construction and should be avoided as a tool to study for the economics exams.

2-0 out of 5 stars This book is not good for a CLEP exam.
I guess I shouldn't be complaining because I was attempting to pass the macroeconomics CLEP exam with the AP cliff notes book. The reason I was doing this is because I could not find a study guide for it.So if you are looking for a CLEP study guide don't get this book, I did pass with a 54 and I needed a 50, but it was pure luck.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing resource for anyone with admissions question
As a high school senior, I've been having the usual problems with finding a college that I feel is right for me, and then actually going about the process of applying. Not only was this book helpful in answering nearly all of my questions, but it is written in an interesting, friendly manner that I found heartening in the midst of a process that has been incredibley stressful! I recommend this book not only to high school students but their parents as well - my Mother read it and she loved it too!

5-0 out of 5 stars Admission Matters
This book is clearly written and an excellent guide for the high school student and parents.

5-0 out of 5 stars the best college admissions book I've seen
This is an outstanding book. What I appreciate most about it is its thoughtfulness.Where other books present statistics and give only brief attention to very important topics, this book presents a fair, smart, and thorough account of the World of Admissions and encourages you to sit down and think about things, guiding you along each step of the process. ... Editorial Review

Think you've got a book inside of you? Anne Lamott isn't afraid to help you let it out. She'll help you find your passion and your voice, beginning from the first really crummy draft to the peculiar letdown of publication. Readers will be reminded of the energizing books of writer Natalie Goldberg and will be seduced by Lamott's witty take on the reality of a writer's life, which has little to do with literary parties and a lot to do with jealousy, writer's block and going for broke with each paragraph.Marvelously wise and best of all, great reading. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars A mixed bag
This book has some good writing advice, which I appreciate, but I was annoyed by the intrusive religious comments. It should have been marketed as a Christian writing book, or else I wish they had left the religion out of it. I do not expect to find this when I purchase a writing book. I want to hear about writing, not about how God can make me a better writer.
5-0 out of 5 stars Worth reading and Saving !
This is one of the books that I will keep and re-read.Very well written and inspiring.I LOVED IT !! Made me "want" to write and made me feel that I could actually write something worth reading.

2-0 out of 5 stars Depressing
I found this book very depressing. Anne Lamott's constant self-deprecation throughout the book caused me to really doubt myself as well. I know she is doing it to show that she's human just like the rest of us, but I think she can show that without hating on herself every chance she gets (saying the 9-year-old version of herself looked like a neurotic cat woman, etc.) despite what she says about how you shouldn't do that. It's like hanging around with a bunch of anorexic models, it gets to you.

1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK
This book does just about nothing for you. At first I was amazed to see that they could do an AP US Review in so few pages. Now I know why. It merely gives you a list of "things to know." Each chapter literally consists of a header and a list of terms, such as "election of 1800" or "Articles of Confederation," and it suggests that you look it up in another book.I personally suggest the REA AP US book which provides full and simple explanations of everything.

2-0 out of 5 stars OK Book for Practice Tests; no review
This A.P. preparation book is not the best book I've ever seen. Unfortunately, I only purchased this book as a sole review shortly before the test and was disappointed. The practice tests in the back are great and there are four full example tests, therefore, I must give them some credit. Overall, would not recommend this book as a primary resource for studying.

2-0 out of 5 stars this book is an awful review
Being a cliffs study guide, I thought this book would be helpful, but it is NOT.I had to get another book that would actually help. The book just lists important names and places, and rarely explains them, resulting in you having to look up in the textbook all of the answers. It was worthless. The end multiple choice part was fine though. ... This is an abridged review from CEEAE dot org:
4-0 out of 5 stars SO Much Better Than the 2005 Edition!
After I read the reviews about the 2005 edition, I was a little wary about the 2006. However, I decided to give it a try and am very glad I did! The main issue in the 2005 was the amount of errors in the math section, but it is a lot better this year. I have yet to find one and I am about 3/4 of the way through. The math section seems very scary, but remember they're reviewing the most difficult questions. Don't get discouraged!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for a crash course or an extensive review
This book has everything that you would need to know from the test.It breaks down the topics into the B and C components. The free response practice tests closely resembles an easy AP test.About the multiple choice, there is no book on the market that can immitate the obscure AP test. From 2004 to present, there has beenan official trend of elevating the multiple choice difficulty, while there is relatively no change in the free response.

5-0 out of 5 stars Makes Physics a Cakewalk
I have been studying out of this book all year so far and it is the ONLY physics book I or anyone else will ever need. 4-0 out of 5 stars A wide ranging collection of advice.
Contains a wide ranging collection of one and two sentence bits of advice. For a more comprehensive discussion of the same topics, you might want to also look at COLLEGE LIFE 102: The No-Bull Guide to a Great Freshman Year.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not a bad choice
This book does what its supposed to, which may sound a bit like a left handed compliment, but that's actually quite an accomplishment in the genre of college guidebooks. It actually gives good useable information about what to expect, and how to navigate, college. And it does it in a clear way. So many similar books are substance free. Or get mired in trying to use 'hip' language. This one is usable and cogent. I reccomend it highly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Reading this book is like sitting around trading inside secrets with your friends!
One of the many things I like about this book is that you can open it to virtually any page and pick up a great tip.It really reminded me of one of the many impromptu sessions I spent with my college buddies, trading experiences and talking late into the night -- comfortable, easygoing, funny, and with a lot of great insights.I can't imagine how any high school graduate heading off to college could fail to appreciate this book. I definitely recommend it! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Easy and interesting way to improve vocabulary
This book adds enjoyment to the desire of every one to have good vocabulary strength. More we proceed with story more words we add to our word pool.
4-0 out of 5 stars Extremely useful but requires some discipline
I got this book to see if my 9-year-old could use it but as it turned out, the book is more suitable for me than it is for her.It is a great way to build one's vocabulary (I am learning quite a few new words myself) but it does take some discipline, and is certainly a bit too advanced for my daughter. If Mark Philips could also include the pronunciation in the footnotes, that would be even better.
3-0 out of 5 stars Full of difficult words
This book has good words for first 100 pages, then later this book becomes tedious to read. Because each sentence has three to four tough words. This book is for people who have good command over English language. Also the words used in this book are hardly used in everyday english. Don't waste your money. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars a little help
This book is NOT enough to pass the CLEP.It IS easy to read and does provide much knowledge.HOWEVER, I would have failed had I relied solely on this book. I also used Peterson's CLEP Success which helped me pass the exam much more than this book.I would suggest using them both.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not even close!
I used this book solely as a review for the CLEP exam, and received a score of 55 (barely passing) as opposed to the actual CLEP books - I got a 96 using the "official CLEP guide".3-0 out of 5 stars This book is good but not enough.
This book will help prepare for the exam but it is not enough to pass the test.I was able to pass because I also took the History I, Intro to Sociology, American Government, and General Humanities CLEPS.Read more
