4-0 out of 5 stars A very compicated and amazing story.
This read is compelling, complicated, and your on the edge of your seat the whole time.
4-0 out of 5 stars A Little Something for Even the Adult Can Enjoy
Mystery, codes, fantasy, and good writing. It all makes for a very good book. I admit, this book is aim for a younger fan base but I found it intriguing to the very end. Anyone who remembers the old Disney movies of "The Watcher in the Woods" and "The Lady in White" would also think this book belongs in the same genre as with them. I loved those movies while growing up and as a adult I thoroughly enjoy this book as well. Enough of how much I enjoyed reading this book, I'm sure you got the point by now.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Book...
I loved this book! I was racing through this book because it was sooo good! I set myself a limit of 100 pages a day or less. (100 pages seems like a lot, but I found myself reading 150-180 pages in one sitting!) The story is a blend of scariness, mystery, suspense, and adventure! This is a GREAT read! The cave scene was great and the ending was very satisfying. Keep up the good work Christine Morton-Shaw! I will read more of her novels, and I hope you can too! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Mixed Bag
As mentioned above, The Terrorist was definately a mixed bag. The story line was exellent and Billy was the most exciting and character I've seen for a long time. Honestly though, besides the plot and Billy, the story takes a nosedive. The sterotypes were very annoying to read; about America and Muslims. I'm not muslim; but I could see the that they were being unfairly portrayed as primative, violent, woman beaters. Americans were being portrayed as naive and ignorant.
5-0 out of 5 stars I Love This Book : )
This book is one of the best books i have read by Mrs.Cooney. I would recomend thisbook to people in grades 4-8. it was a sad and suspenseful book which made it very good. Although i wasn't very satisfied with the ending (itneeds more info) i LOVE this book.

1-0 out of 5 stars Trite, moralistic tales with no concept of reality
I seem to be the one voice of dissent when it comes to this collection of short grphic peices. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I found Vachss stories to be completely lacking in any redeaming volue what so ever. The stories them selves are less than surface level involving no depth of charater, or exploration of ideas. How to best explain it? Ah, got it! Do you remember sitcoms from the early 90's, were at the end everyone has learned a very important lesson about drugs, or gangs, or sneaking out to parties? Mix that with the sort of "poetic justice" you would find in "Tales from the crypt" and you have "Hard Looks". Except there is no kitchy irony involved, no chuckles at how silly and ridiculus this sort of stroy telling is, Vachss is dead serious. After reading the book I was ahgast to find out that Vachss was at one point a fedral investigator, AND a social worker. This book is apparently how he thinks the world works, or should work. I would suggest not buying this garbage. If you really must read it, I'm sure your public or a local college library will have a copy. Head over one day and flip through it, you'll see what I mean.
5-0 out of 5 stars "Look Down, or Look Hard"
Andrew Vachss is a problematic short story writer. His style is so frontal and minimalist that often the stories are over before they have penetrated intellectually.Instead, the reader experiences a sudden burst of emotion or horror, leaving a stunned silence in its path.To be honest I prefer his novels, which give the reader a grace period before the roller-coaster starts down the first big drop.5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book - Why not both covers?
This is a really nice graphic novel, and I'd expect no less from Vachss and his team of talented artists and writers. But how come we can't get the comics cover by Geof Darrow? I think Amazon should be offering both covers as a special "buy with" option (instead of the old Predator stuff!).Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars What Should Rae Do Now?
Rae just had the most amazing kiss of her life - from Anthony, the guy who always treated her like nothing more than a friend. However, he did just save her life from the kidnappers who had snatched her and Yana so maybe he didn't really mean it? After all, it seems that Rae is always causing Anthony trouble and he spends a lot of time bailing her out, but he seemed to really care about her. Rae knows that Anthony regrets the kiss when he totally keeps his distance from her, which sucks, because she really needs his help right now. She knows that guy who kidnapped her has been watching her, taking pictures of her, and she had even talked to him once! Rae can't even turn to Yana for help because Yana thinks that Rae betrayed a confidence and that Rae can't be trusted. She has never felt so alone...5-0 out of 5 stars The best!!
While this isn't the best of the series, it is still a great book! All of Melinda Metz'z books leave you on the edge of you seat! I can't wait to read the next in the series!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Suspensful!!!
Rae's life couldn't be more complicated! Yes, she has finally kissed Anthony but when Anthony sees Marcus giving her a present he totally misunderstood the situation and she can't get to him because her ex-boyfriend Marcus seems to always be in the way! This part just really fustrated me very much! I was expecting Rae and Athony's relationship to blossom! Things get even more fustrating when Yana seems to have gotten into her head that Rae is the one who sent a letter to her dad about the ballet story. Rae feels all alone and it doesn't make her feel better when it seems Anthony and Yana are hiding something from her. So when she gets a chance to find out about her mother more she goes by herself. However going by herself is definitely going to be dangerous. Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars "Yeah, I'm a Freak Like You!"
Set in season one of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," author John Vornholt brings two new elements to Sunnydale - a travelling carnival and a pack of strange coyotes. Buffy, Xander and Willow are excited about the presence of a carnival to finish off the summer and soon Xander and Willow are hooked up with two exotic carnies, Rose and Lonnie. Buffy however, is distracted by the presence of a pack of coyotes roaming through the streets of Sunnydale. Although Willow insists that this is a normal occurrence, Buffy isn't so sure, especially when she sees the coyotes hanging around the grave of an old Western cowboy entertainer named Spurs Hardaway.
4-0 out of 5 stars The Skinwalkers Come to Sunnydale
COYOTE MOON by John Vornholt is the third Buffy The Vampire Slayer book and the second all-new adventure.Like the previous volumes this was a very well-done book.I don't know if the series has a better bible than others but so far all of the characters act just as they would be expected to on the show.5-0 out of 5 stars Tony Hillerman lite

1-0 out of 5 stars Did not enjoy it.
Ok, maybe it's because I'm 16 and therefore older than the usual readers of this book, but I didn't really like it.The reason I read it is because after doing some digging in my family history, I found out that I'm Melungeon. That's also another reason I didn't like this book.If these people are supposed to be from Virginia or around the area...where are their accents? The only trace of correct dialect was when they called ginseng 'sang'.Maybe she had them speak such perfect English because the book is intended for a younger audience but it still bothered me.And maybe if she had invented another group of people for this story, I wouldn't have been so affected by the idea that Melungeons are these 'magical' people in a completely different world.Which they aren't.They, or I should say 'we', are just normal human beings with an interesting past. So, anyway, if you're 10 years old, not from Virginia, and NOT Melungeon, then I'm sure you'll enjoy this book.As for me, it was a waste of time.

4-0 out of 5 stars Aaron's Sang SpellBook Review 4 stars
I read the book, Sang Spell by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. The book was pretty good and is one of the best books I ever read.I liked the book because it is a book that takes place in a different world, Canara and it is about a boy my age.Sang Spell is about two-hundred pages long and has seventeen chapters. The book is about a boy named Josh Vardy who is hitchhiking to Dallas, Texas from Boston, Massachusetts. He is hitchhiking because his Mom was killed in a car accident and he is not living with his Dad.He is going to Dallas so he can live with his Aunt.He was supposed to take a hike in the Appalachian Mountains with one of his friends then go to Dallas.Instead, the hike was cancelled and he decided to hitchhike there so he would have something to talk about when he arrived at his new school.Josh was hitchhiking and a man beat him up when he didn't pay him for the ride. After he got beat up, the guy stole his four hundred dollars and his shoes, which were worth more than one hundred dollars.Josh still had the plane ticket to go to Dallas and some money he had in his front pocket.Josh had asked to go with a woman in a horse and buggy and she took him to Canara.Later, he found out when he was beaten up that his rib were broken. He has learned the town's customs and traditions. He worked for his food by doing chores and made friends with members of the village.Kaspar is trapped in Canara along with Josh and has many conflicts with Josh and even threatens to kill Josh if he doesn't help Kaspar get out of Canara.Josh wanted to go home and tried leaving but he couldn't find a way out.Read this excellent book and find out what happens to Josh and see if he makes it to Dallas. My favorite character was Josh because he went through lot of trouble and had a lot of action and conflicts with Kaspar.

4-0 out of 5 stars Ronin mystery
Sixteenth-century Japan was a complex place -- lords fought for dominance, ronin (masterless) samurai wandered from place to place, and the Portuguese were making inroads. And Lensey Namioka takes full advantage of all that in "The Samurai and the Long Nosed Devils," a clever murder mystery.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Mystery!
As an American of Japanese descent, I loved this book because Namioka portrays two ronin samurai as intelligent, humorous characters with whom anyone can identify.Forget stereotypes. The two out-of-work samurai, Zenta and Matsuzo, plunge into a plot that twists and turns and keeps you coming back for more... Thank goodness, Namioka was a proliferate writer and there are two more books about these two.In the course of unraveling a fine mystery, the reader learns about the how's and why's of the costumes, swordsmanship and manners of feudal Japan (these turn into clues); rather than alienate the reader from this culture, the plot draws one into it and you understand it personally.A great way to slip history and respect for other cultures into your child's library. But it also stands on its own as a mystery because of Namioka's vervacious style.Superb. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Good, but Nixon's done better
Ok, i bought this book b/c it had soo many good reviews and it was a part of LOTS of those "get this book and buy Who Are You? at a discount!" thingys, so i figured it was supposedly some sort of featured item, that was really good. Plus, from what i had read in the reviews, the idea of a man "stalking" her sounded interesting. (i know, really creepy feeling, but i don't care) Well, i read it with high hopes. I enjoyed it none the less but i've definately read better Nixon books.

Editorial Review

Imagine discovering that your whole life has been a fiction, your identity altered, and a new family history created. Suddenly nothing is as it once seemed; you can trust no one, maybe not even yourself. It is exactly this revelation that turns 14-year-old Adam Farmer's life upside down. As he tries to ascertain who he really is, Adam encounters a past, present, and future too horrible to contemplate. Suspense builds as the fragments of the story are assembled--a missing father, government corruption, espionage--until the shocking conclusion shatters the fragile mosaic. Young adult readers will easily relate to the shy and confused Adam, whose desperate searching for self resembles a disturbingly exaggerated version of the identity crisis common to the teenage years.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Suspenseful, Addicting, Amazing
This book is broken up into three parts. The first part is Adam, riding his bike, trying to get to the town that he was born and find his father so he can deliver a package that he has brought him. The second part is Adam speaking with someone and trying to remember his past. The third part is Adam in the past, and what has happened. All of these parts are intertwined together to make one very compelling novel. The story is very interesting and kept me always wanting to read more. It is unique in that it has three different parts, all about Adam and that we are learning Adam's story as he is.
5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Read
Excellent. I first read I am the Cheese in 6th grade. It is one of the few books that I have read over and over again in the many years since. It always keeps you thinking and guessing. A superb piece of writing that is definitely worth the short amount of time it takes to read.

3-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good...that is if you get it.
I read this book for school and was happily surprised when the book wasn't the usual boring, drawn out, painful to read type of assigned reading. I am the cheese was interesting and exciting. It kept you turing the page until you couldn't anymore. There was only one problem; throughout the whole book, you were never quite sure of what was going on. This feature is part of what makes the book so great, but even at the end, most of your questions will remain unsolved. This isn't the type of book that makes you smile after reading the final words. It was refreshing to read a book that makes you think after you had long closed its pages. The only problem was that you could not find answers to your thoughts and questions. Much of the book is unsaid. A lot goes on without being written on the page-it's there for you to figure out and decide. Annoying, but good. ... Read more

This book is the best out of the Final Friends series because all your questions are answered. I LOVE how Pike made the relationship between some people final. This book has everything that anyone would want: romance, mystery, and suspense. This book is DEFINITELY NOT childish. One of my fav. books of Pikes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great story
I casually picked up this book for some light reading to pass some time. I finished it overnight...it had me gripped. Pike is a welcomed digression in my reading choices, but I have to admit, it was a good one. The story line doesn't unfold until the end, and no amount of guessing gave it away. It is an intense novel. Not for the overly young. The death in the end was a shock.... makes the book even more memorable.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mysteries
This book was such an exciting story. When I first read the first line i wanted to read more!!!!!!!!! It is about a guy named Herb who wanted to take nude pictures of the cheerleaders and he does take the pictures. The next day he finds out that his friend Lisa had been mudered. In the picture it shows a hint of who might of murdered Lisa. Also, a while back Lisa's Friend Roger also was murdered and later in the story there are more people who had ben murdered, but in that one picture it gives you a hint of who might of murdered all those people. I don't want to ruin the ending so if you want to find out more read this book and you wont regret it!!!!!!!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars A great read
This is one of Pike's darkest books, but also one of his best.Highly recommended. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An intriguing, haunting mystery with a dash of romance.
I first read this book I was in the 6th grade, and I recently bought it and read it again. I have to say, I liked it better the first time round. But that might have been because I was younger, and this book seems suited for the pre-teen, young teen audience.
5-0 out of 5 stars Superb!
This is certainly one of the best scary books I have ever read. This book was given to me by a friend and it was the perfect choice. It was scary, but in perfect doeses, fast-paced and a definite page-turner. I really, really loved it! I highly. HIGHLY reccomned it to any one seeking a thrill!

5-0 out of 5 stars great! :)
This book is so awesome, its my favorite book.Once you start reading you cant put it down!I love the time period of the early 1900s so this book was freat for that too.Its very interesting to read about Molly and Jared as they go back to the early 1900s as two different people. Its not one of those mystery books where you just have to wait until the end in order to just get the answer to the mystery.Instead, it is a continual answer being given away from the middle to the end. ...
