Shan has done it again!
I love this series to death!I was super excited when the last book finally came out.I read it in less than a day.I couldn't put it down.I was shocked at the end.I was literally almost in tears.I'm sad Mr. Crepsley wasn't in the last three books.He was my favorite character and I'd love this book even more if he was in it!I have to say, I'm sad that it's over.I've read this series at least three times.I love vampire books, and this series was by far the best.It gets boring with your typical "blood-sucking, night walkers" vampire stories, but Darren Shan put a total twist on it and that made it new and refreshing.That's what I loved most.And the fact that he uses his own name saying it really happened makes it a little better.Overall, it was an excellent book!!!

You MUST read this book!!!
I love this book! I just finished it today and I started it 3 days ago. Usually I can read these books in less than a day but with school and everything its hard to squeeze an entire book in one day. I agree with everyone the ending is a little corny. But without a doubt I would tell anyone to read this book. Although it looks like a book that guys would like, I am a girl and fell in love with these books I have the entire series and I am starting to read Darren Shan's new series; The Demonata. I am waiting for the 3rd book to come out and it feels like it is taking forever! But anyway, this book has many surprises and unexpected events. I don't want to blow the big question who is the Lord of Shadows? Darren or Steve? But I will say that Vancha apparently did not die because over the 2 years after the Lord is revealed Evanna get pregnant with Vancha and his brother. I must say this book will keep you wanting more! I actually cried when I finished the book because I loved the whole series and for it to end they way it did makes me dissappointed. But I have been on Darren's site and he said after the 10 book series of The Demonata (which I must say is a great series for anyone who loved Cirque Du Freak)he MIGHT write a 2nd season to the Cirque Du Freak books but nothing is a deffinate. All I can really say is READ THIS BOOK!!! you will love it!

i agree good book sad ending
this is a very good book.but the ending was sad. I was expecting more of an after shock like ??? um i forgot who said that.well this is awsome and very sad I mean im a boy and i got sad.and your right i cant believe its over, it stinks. I mean it was a crudy ending and he is cheating the veiwers. And the worse part of all darren never got to say bye to Vancha daries or especialy Annie. Also what ever happend to Vancha after Gannen stabbed him. The real Darren if you read this please tell me.Now dont get me wrong its by the far best series ive ever read and i own the whole series. Just it leaves the veiwers a gap in the story.I think there should be 1 more book. I cant stand it, the books is like my bible well not really but there so good its really hard to believe that its all over,all the waiting you ,we had to do to get the series it just is not that fair and im pretty shure people agree with me. I hate it really its so addicting its really not funny.I got grounded because i skipped meals and staid way pass my bed time reading, of coarse if you read them i think you would know. ... Read more

Hatchet is my Favorite Book
Hatchet is my favorite book, this is a book where a boy whos parents are divorced and goes to visit his father and takes a single engine plane and and plane crashed into a river. The pilot suffers a heart attack and dies, the Boy, Brian survives and manages to live in the middle of no where for about a year, The boys mother, gave him a hatchet for his birthday and the hatchet represents life for without it the boy would not have been able to survive. The boy eventully gets rescued and flys back.

Great Book
This book is great so far. It is full of mystery and adventure. Twelve year old Claudia has run away with her brother Jamie to the Metropilan Muesum of Art. Claudia decided to bring along her brother Jamie with her because he has a lot of money. While they are there at the muesum, Claudia and Jamie come across a great mystery in the muesum that is all over the newspaper. If you would like to find out what this great mystery read this book! Teachers it is also a great book to read with your class. Also edutactional!

Not mixed-up about how good this book is
This Newbery award winner is about Claudia and Jamie, two kids who run away from home. They leave the suburbs and head to New York where they stay in none other than the Metropolitan Museum of Art. They sleep in an old bed in the French section. They hide in the bathrooms. They even take baths in a fountain (and get paid for it, sort of)!But when a new exhibit comes in, the fun really starts. The Angel is beautiful, exquisite, and mysterious. The question: is the sculpture really done by Michelangelo? Claudia and Jamie will do anything to find out. I think I loved the book mostly because I really liked the idea of living in a museum. This book is good for all ages, but I expected it to be longer.

Being the new girl at school isn't easy, but what's even harder is when you're living in the guesthouse of the most popular girl at school and she doesn't want anything to do with you. Of course wearing overalls and Keds don't help out much when you go to a school that is all about fashion. When Claire's father goes to work for one of his friends from college Claire's family moves to the Block Estate's guesthouse, Massie's guesthouse, and Claire wants to be in the plans that Massie and her friends make, but soon realizes that it isn't as easy as it seems. Massie's list of LBR's, losers beyond repair, has just got its newest member, Claire. Trying everything that Claire can think to do to become friends with Massie and her BFFL, best friends for life, Claire has been nice and she has even tried to share her gummies with them but nothing works. Then finally she decides that she is going to go into Massie's room but she isn't sure what she is going to do there when all of a sudden an alarm sounding noise coming from her computer and find out that it is Massie's AIM was receiving an IM. It's Kristen, Claire pretends to be Massie almost every night for a week and Claire gets Massie's friends to turn to be her friends. They spend days at the mall buying clothes for Claire because she doesn't own alot of clothes. They spend time at each others house and spend the night, but when the plan takes an unexpected turn, Claire is now one of the most hated girls at their school because Massie found out about Claire sneaking into her room every night. Later that month at the auction Claire donates everything that Massie's friends bought her because her parent made her, so she buys the clothes and gives the clothes back to who bought them for her.
EHMAGOD....ITS THE PRETTY COMMITEE
Social Suicide is the point where 7th grader Massie Block is experience. When Massies best friend over hears girls at school talk about Massie falling off she is desperate for a plan to stay on top at OCD. She decides to throw a boy-girl Halloween party to keep her statice. The only problem is she has t throw it with Claire, her enemy, and the biggest loser in school. Think that's a problem, when THE PRETTY COMMITTEE decide to show off their devil costumes at school the school principles decides to make the whole school wear uniform. Meanwhile Alicia, a member of THE PRETTY COMMITTEE has a new best friend and Claire and Massie like the same guy. To keep the school from blaming Massie about the uniforms she decides to have a competition of girls making uniforms and the winner gets their uniform worn. In the end Alicia and her new best friend, Olivia wins Turns out they cheated, Massie, Claire, Kristen nd Dylan's team wins. Claire also finds out her and Massie likes the same guy when her and Massie finally becomes friends. What will she do now? I think this was a really awesome book. It shows the real everyday drama that girls experience, and it's funny, also unique.

A great adventure from James Patterson
Surprised at all the negative reviews, but then again its all just opinion, so here is mine:James Patterson isn't Ernest Hemingway!
A Page Turner
This book is one of the best teen books that I've ever read!It will keep you on the edge of your seat and guessing even after you finish it.Luckly the second book in the series is out.The story is about six 98% human/2% bird "creatures" and their lives as they rescue their little "sister" from the labratory where they were created.All the while they are being chased by wolf/humans.I won't spoil the story for you though.But I highly suggest reading this book.You won't be disappointed!!!!

An Adults Review
I am not a teen, or a tween, but I do enjoy a good well written adventure story and the plotline of this book sounded interesting. Genetically altered children with wings, in an age where parents are close to being able to assign attributes to future babies it seemed appropriate to write such a story. James Patterson, usually known for his murder mysteries tries and fails, in my opinion, to speak through an adolescent's point of view. It was an "almost" story; never quite reaching a "wow" factor, kept me interested just enough to finish it but not enough to read the next installment. The plot didn't flow; the characters were too one dimensional, with funny but ridiculous names and even more worse they were too generic to the Young Adult Genre. Pick up any book in that section and you will find that 90% of them have the A) angst ridden young girl who doesn't realize she is wonderful and B) the Boy she is close with but doesn't realize she loves him, and vice versa C) the characters spouting forth the idiom of the day and D) a plot with no flow only small surges that never reach a common stream of conscience. I would say this was less Maximum Ride and more like Miniscule Jaunt. ... Read more

Be careful with this book
My daughter was allowed to borrow this book from her school library when she was 7 because she tested high on her SRI. She was sitting on the couch reading it with tears welling up in her eyes. I read the book, and it is a beautifully-written, powerful piece, BUT be careful. If your child is not ready for this emotionally, DO NOT allow her/him to read it. The baby and mom die horribly, the father withers away and the girl is racked with guilt and blame. It's not something you give lightly to a child of any age.

A Mon avis...
Though this book is well written and has a creative style I absolutely despised the story. The reason I dislike this book has nothing to do with it being "very sad" as some other reviewers have commented. Instead I dislike the book because the story is lacking and I do not think the author does a good job of creating empathy towards the characters. Usually when a reading a "sad" book I have sympathy towards the characters. In this book there was none. Also I felt the character development was lacking. I don't reccomend this book if you are looking for a good story I do reccomend it though if you are interested in learning about free verse or seeing how the author shaped the story.

Poetry
This book is AWESOME! I believe that it is simply amazing how this authour was able to portray so eloquently the joys and hardships of Billie Jo during the Dust Bowl, especially when writing it all in poetry. This a must-read for anyone really, even those who are 10, like me. I loved it because of the above reason, and, because Billie Jo is so truthful and pure about here feelings in this book, and you don't see a lot of that nowdays. My advise is to READ IT!!!!!!! ... Hi!I just finished reading BUD, NOT BUDDY by Christopher Paul Curtis. It's a very good book I must say and this is why I give it a 5 star rating.

"Bud, Not Buddy" was a heart-felt book. Ten-year-old Bud Caldwell was the main character of this book. His mother had died when he was six years old. He had a suitcase with his personal things in there. Nobody was allowed to look in there without his permission. He also wrote a book for himself. It was called,"Bud Caldwell's Rules and Things for Having a Funner Life and Making A Better Liar Out Of Yourself." Bud's mom never mentioned anything about his father. He had a flyer in his suitcase that had a picture of a band on it. He was pretty sure that the person who played the bass was his father. Herman E. Calloway was the guy's name. Since he had nowhere to live, he went in search for Mr. Calloway. Bud's destination was Grand Rapids. In order to get to grand Rapids, he had to get to Hooverville, Flint. He was already living in Flint. He just had to find Hooverville. Hooverville was a place for people without money. When he got to Hooverville, Bud made a new friend named Deza Malone. She later became his girlfriend. She gave him tips for living life without money. Bud's ticket to Grand Rapids was just a train ride away. Unfortunatly, Bud missed the train. He had to walk from there. He was stopped by a man named Lefty Lewis. He offered Bud a ride to his home. Since Bud didn't have a home, he had to use his book to get him out of this mess. Bud told him that he lived in Grand Rapids and that Herman E. Calloway. was his father. Lefty Lewis fell for it and took Bud to Grand Rapids. Bud was finally at his destination. He went inside the building where the band practiced. He confronted Mr. Calloway and told him that he was his Bud's father. Mr. Calloway was mad at this and replied with a no. Bud didn't believe him. At the end of the story, Bud finds out that Herman E. Callowaywas actually his grandfather. I would have never guessed this ending until I read the entire book. It was very surprising. Bud Caldwell came looking for a home and ended up being with his long-lost grandfather. He struggled through some difficult times but he succeeded in the end. ... Read more

The best book I have ever read!!!
You have found the love of your life. The catch? He's a vampire, thirsting for your blood.When Bella moves from sunny Phoenix to dreary forks, her mood is anything but happy. Then she meets Edward Cullen. He's not one of those coffin-sleeping, afraid of onions, sucking you dry type of vampire. He and his family are more civilized, preying on wild animals. Their family is different, having abilities such as reading people's minds (Edward's ability) and seeing the future (Alice's ability). They fall in love. Everything is wonderful until they invite Bella to play baseball, vampire-style. A nomad band of vampires hears them and wants to join. Once they realize that Bella is human, they want her blood. While Edward, his brother Emmett and his sister Rosalie, along with his mother Esme and his father Carlisle try to hunt the band of vampires, Alice, Edward's sister, and Jasper, Edward's brother, take Bella to Phoenix to get the band off her scent. While in Phoenix, Edward calls them to tell them that the band was lost, but Bella already knows that, the leader called her and told her that he had her mother and was going to kill her if she did not come. She runs away, and meets him at her mom's house. He tells her that he tricked her and that he did not have her mom. He starts to kill her, and he knocks her out in the process. She wakes up in Edward's arms, bleeding all over the place. He, the leader, broke her leg, smashed open her skull, and bit her. Edward has to suck out the poison, and saves her life. When she wakes up, she is in the hospital, with a very well thought out story about her injuries, with her mother by her side. When she recovers, Edward's family and Bella go home, just in time for the prom. Edward takes Bella, against her will, and Bella asks Edward why didn't he just let the poison take place, then they could be together forever. Edward pushes that thought out of her mind and together they dance, with that thought that they can really never be together. This book is so good; I recommend it to every one. This is my new favorite book, it is that good.
Move over Heathcliff and Cathy-Bella and Edward are here to stay
Meyer was not joking when she said she loved Edward Cullen, the main character of her debut novel, "Twilight" at the National Book Fest. Not joking, because every word she's written about him has single-handedly gone to create the perfect angst-ridden, marble shrouded vampire teen; that at 17 was "turned" on his deathbed during the Spanish influenza pandemic.
Simple and Wonderful... A Delight to Read
Even though this book has a simple plot, and repeats the themes of many, many other works, it somehow hits an important romantic chord. I was thrilled to read a book where Vampires have dignity and a conscience (expecially after reading one of Laurell K. Hamilton's sordid novels) and even though, as a young adult novel, it was sweet and innocent it was still beautiful. Definately worth the time, and I would love to see more books from this author - maybe even venturing into the adult section at some point. ... Read more

Best Teen Novel Ever
This book is a real page turner. I loved it. I read it every chance I had. The characters and plot are so realistic. I couldn't put it down.Best Book Ever! I would reccomend this book to any girl who enjoys a little romance, some comedic moments, and cliffhangers. If you read this, you enter an amazing journey through girl world... where cat fights are permitted!

Revenge of the Wannabee's
In this book,The Clique is back and it's nastier than ever. Alicia Rivera, spoiled princess and definetley the prettiest of The Clique decides, with help from her new friend Olivia (or Faux-livia) that she is tired of being Massie Block's #2, she decides to step out on her own. Massie gets wind of this and plans her revenge. Kristen is suddenly wanted by both Alicia and Massie, doesn't know who to pick. Dylan knows that what Massie is doing to Alicia is bad, but she doesn't care. The newest member of The Clique, Claire Lyons, is suddenly wanted. Massie replaces Alicia with Claire and Cam, from the local boy's school Briarwood Academy, is showering Claire with mix CD's and gummy candy.

Anderson has a very interesting writing style in Speak. She sets her book up to be like a report card, each section signified by the marking periods of a school year--starting with first marking period to forth marking period. Each of the four sections is a chronological explanation for why Melinda is the way she is. Within the "marking periods" the sections are indicated with a title telling the reader what she will be talking about. The passages are written much like a play format. Anderson is very descriptive in her text. With each dialog is a bracket explaining what the person talking is doing, wearing, or gesturing, much like she is directing a play and the actors need to know how to stand or move. Her language is sophisticated yet simple. She writes to an older audience. She uses pronouns like "IT," talking about Andy and "Them," to address her parents. Her usage of the pronouns allows the reader to feel the separation from the characters. By calling Andy "IT," she is letting the reader know that he is a character she would like to forget and could care less about. Calling her parents Them, excludes her from feeling like she is a part of them. Anderson spells words wrong so it seems as if it could be a diary and the narrator, Melinda, is reflecting upon what happened but cannot spell. It allows the reader to connect to Melinda better.

a haunting, painful read
This book is painful, but then again, so is teenage life for many young people.Those who have felt alone, scared, confused and without a voice will not only feel Melinda's pain, but her triumph as she finally finds her voice. However, it is the people who never felt like her at all who need to read this book most of all.Maybe it will help them understand the trials that many of our young ones are going through so that we can find ways to show them that they are not alone.

It'll Shake You Up and Set You Down Again
When I began this book, I didn't like it.It was so negative, and absolutely depressing.There's a reason for that.It's about a girl who is suffering through depression over something that happened.It's written in first person, so you feel everything she feels.Her depression really gets into your head.You go through everything--from the depression to the recovery--yourself.At the end, things start getting lighter, freer, and after the rest of the book, it's such a release.I do recommend this book, for people who are going through depression themselves.It has mature content--probably not suited for the average 12- or 13-year-old--but I recommend it to people--even young people--who have gone through or are going through the same things.The ending makes up for all the negativity throughout the book. ... Beautiful
I found this book for my little girl, after discovering a Dinosaur and Shark book for my son. It is so beautiful I sat in awe for about 30 minutes looking at it when I first received it. It's not Disney's Cinderella, so don't look for any comparisons. Instead, it is a beautiful story full of imaginative pop-ups that allow little girls to pretend they are in the story as Cinderella herself. My little girl (2 years) just loves to sit with me and my husband and flip through the story. Even my 3 year old boy loves to look at it!

Indeed, the "fairest of them all"
Aza ins't just plain; she's plain ugly. In a land where song, grace, and beauty are prized, Aza's large stature (not just in heighth but also breadth) are deemed appalling and overshadow her amazing abilities in singing. Abandoned at the Featherbed Inn as a newborn, she is lovingly raised by her foster family. But their love can't oversome the low self-esteem Aza develops because of how other people treat her. When an unexpected chance to travel to court for a royal wedding comes, Aza is hesitant but goes to help her family. There, she is "befriended" by the new queen, Ivi, who is selfish and self-absorbed. Soon after the wedding, the king is severally injured and Ivi is claimed ruler in his place. Forcing Aza to use her unusual ability to project her voice for her own gains, the queen quickly becomes a dictator that threatens Aza's honor, her tenuous relationship with Prince Ijori (the king's nephew and heir), and the country in general. Can Aza overcome her own lack of self-assurance to save herself and her land?
