3-0 out of 5 stars Classic Urban Legend Tales
Spiders in the Hairdo is a collection of well known and in most cases frequently told myths, camp fire stories and I heard from a friend of a friend or a friend rumours. The majority you will have heard before but this is a good compact sized collection of some of the best tales. You've got the knife wheeling maniac in the back seat (as told by Auto on the Simpsons) who in this book is a rope strangler. The unwashed hair full of poisonous spiders, the hook on the lovers' car door, scuba diver in the tree after a forest fire and all the world's favourites. They are quite good versions in this book and this collection is just as good as similar books such as The Big Book of Urban Myths or the Darwin Awards Trilogy.
4-0 out of 5 stars Easy to Read Source for Urban Legends
All those fun stories that you grew up with as a kid are here in this book. The next time you complain about all these new legends on the Internet, remember we all told the one about the bloody hook attached to the car door. And you know that story about the roach eggs in the taco meat made your skin crawl, no pun intended. This book is too much fun and a good source for nostalgic reflection or for retelling to all those people who you just want to scare a little! ...

4-0 out of 5 stars Told With a Twist of Lemon!
This book does not explore anything new in terms of presenting new Urban Legends. But, it does dramatize well known legends giving them a new flare. Very good book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Broken Hearts
This is an excellent book! I would recommend it for any fear street lover. The killer was quite suprising also. I would recommend it for mystery readers also. It is just great!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best in the series
I read this and a bunch of other books in the Fear Street series about nine years ago. I picked this book up again(out of boredom) and realized what a great job Mr. Stine did! He actually took time to flesh his characters out, and got into their personal lives (Easy to do in a novel, really hard to do in a series with new characters in each book, which is why the Superchillers are the best in the Fear Street series hands down). Anyone who thinks the Fear Street series was never interesting even when the series was new, might find they were a little hasty after checking out "Broken Hearts".

5-0 out of 5 stars Someone hates Josie and Melissa

5-0 out of 5 stars One Of Stine's Best
First Date is one of the best books in the Fear Street series. Although predictable, it still had style and substance, and actually contained some very suspensful parts, unlike other Fear Street books.
4-0 out of 5 stars this book was ok i guess.
I really disliked how heartless Will Blakely was..other than that this was a great read.

1-0 out of 5 stars This ain't Buffy, and it SURE ain't Spike!!!
I don't know what restrictions the various authors work under in cranking out these tales, but they must have been created by someone who neither saw the show nor has any idea just who the majority of the fans are. Most of us are ADULTS, and we would really like to have our age group recognised. Look at the origonal episodes and the subject material they contained. These were stories written for and enjoyed by an audience considerably more mature than the "young adult" market the books cater to. Many of us have passed our fifth decade, for cryng out loud. Surely, somewhere, there must be a writer who is both familiar with the show's characters and capable of writing a mature entertaining book about this wonderful show.

4-0 out of 5 stars I would have given it 5 stars but Spike is such a loser!
Overall this book was terrific. Well conceived, well written. I liked how it got back to the basics with Willow, Buffy, Giles and Xander. I also like Anya and Dawn. I really hoped that The Buffster would have had time to get to know the supernatural being Michael. He seemed wonderful. I will always want her with Angel though.
5-0 out of 5 stars i luv this book!!
i hav been obsessed with buffy for the LONGEST time. when i read this book i wished it was actually an episode. its not only my favorite buffy book, its my favorite book ever. its got such a goodplot and you just hav to turn the page to know what happens even when its midnight. the details are amazing and it has the cutest guy in it. there are some really good passages that just make you speechless. there are a lot of surprises, sad parts, n some funny parts. u should DEFINATELY buy this book now. its the best! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Road Trip for 'Buffy' and the Scooby Gang
Sunnydale is known to be situated right upon the Hellmouth, so it's not a big surprise when demons of all sorts start piling into the small town. But when a collection of trolls, sea monsters, werewolves, toads, skyquakes, and numerous other strange things - stranger than normal things - begin infiltrating Sunnydale, Buffy knows that something isn't quite right. And with Giles hospitalized over three-thousand miles away, Buffy knows that it's more than one Slayer can handle. Especially when each ugly is coming through an old portal from centuries ago, through time and space. Buffy knows that the hell-hole must be found and corked ASAP, which means that Buffy, Angel, and the rest of the Scooby Gang are headed to Boston to meet up with the Gatekeeper. However, once there, Buffy finds that the supernatural mansion that the Gatekeeper reigns over, is home to thousands of rooms, all of which are entrances to so-called "ghost roads," that could bring Buffy face-to-face with some of the most evil beings on earth. Evil beings who are dying to teach the Slayer a lesson.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best I've read.
Scavenger Hunt is a horror classic by Pike. Its also one more great mystery to add on to Pikes work. Its geniously written, the story takes off immedeatley and the plot doesn't drag at all, each page will have you wanting more. For all the Christopher Pike fans, you should already own this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Horror Hunt
This book is a thrilling ride on a roller coaster (literally). It captures your imagination into a whirlwind of crazy happenings that are not explained until the last moment. For Carl Timmons this is the ultimate nightmare. For Paula Morrow and Tracie White this is 'Hell'. For Rick Morrow this is death. For Cessy Stepford and Davey Stepford this is a lot of FUN!!! They have diabolical, big, black-blue eyes, super-human strengths and obviously evil minds!!! This book is amazing and at the same time horrifying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Christopher Pike is an unbelievable, brilliant author. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Exciting yet lacks a good ending
This was the first Fear Street book I read. When I read a couple of others, I realized there was something missing in this one: a good ending. but i still rate it 4 stars since it's really intense in all the other parts of the book.
3-0 out of 5 stars it was an alright book
The book was about a teenage guy. Who's name was Bobby. He was like a High school hottie. Every girl wanted him, but he only dated girls because he wanted to keep a reputation for going out with the most girls in school. Then one day he was walking to his band practice. Because his guitar player in a band with his two best friends. Well they were practicing the Wade twin's walk in the autotorium.
4-0 out of 5 stars double date
this book was suspenseful, because you never knew what was going to happen next. but i thought this book was more funny than scary i wish it had been scarier like his other books are. i thought it was funny when all of his ex-girlfriends got revenge on him though ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Little Disappointments!
After reading the back cover of "Sins of the Father" I got totally excited! I thought Id finally found an actual Angel/Buffy story based on their pre-Angelus relationship. I have gotten really tired with all of the stories of the Buffy/Angel trials post season two. Their relationship just became too predictable. And I thought now with "Sins of the Father" it was going to be different. Christopher Golden came up with the best story/plot line. Pike, Angel. Angel, Pike. Past love meets the Present. Perfect! Think of the conflict. I was looking forward to Angel fighting with Pike for Buffy's love. But no! Of course not! It's based in season three. So if you are an extreme Buffy/Angel fan like me, you can see the disappointment with the entire situation.4-0 out of 5 stars Giles' dad a vampire. Huh!
This book is great for a good read(espicially if your a buffy fan, like me)can get boring in thhe middle though, but what gets me is that giles' dad is a vampire until the end when you find out the truth(they never mentioned that in the t.v series). Also pike, isn't he the guy in season two lie to me? anyway this is a good book with lots of questions to it and also good if your a big fan of giles.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sins of the Father
In the past couple of years I have read a lot of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer books and this one, Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Sins of the Father by Christopher Golden, has been the best so far. This book helps explain the connection between the movie and the TV series. The one character from the movie, Pike comes to Buffy and her gang, for help from the monster that has been following him. They all get together to defeat this "big-bad" like they always do. The past is pretty much revisited in this book.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars my point of view.
The Girlfriend influenced my life because it was full of intellectual curiosity and metacognition. The book is about a boy named Scotty, and his girlfriend named Lora. Lora was going on a trip away from Scotty for awhile, they said they're goodbyes and such, then lived life without eachother. I love how the book is filled with suspense, and things that you wouldn't really expect to happen.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Girlfriend
Ever wanted to read a book with suspense and strange things happening on every turn? The book I read was the Girlfriend by R.L Stine. It is everything that I just said in the beggining. Its about a boy with the perfect girlfriend and perfect life. But everything changes when he goes out on one date with a girl he doesn't even know. After that date the boy thought it was going to be over and nothing else was going to happen, but thats not the strange girls plan. She then starts killing the boys things in order to get him back. But eventually she doesn't get him, but only gets him into lots of trouble with his real girlfriend.

3-0 out of 5 stars The wisdom of a shorter book
In "The Wisdom of War" Buffy and the Scobby Gang find themselves in the middle of a war between two classes of ocean dwelling demons, ones that most vampires are instictivly afraid of.If that wasn't bad enough she gets thrown several curve balls to hamper progress. One is the Watcher's Council has sprung Faith from prison to help them clean up the mess (as usual, the Council has news they will not share with Buffy or Giles).Aslo a new supernatural hunting club has arrived in Sunnydale to sort of help.
4-0 out of 5 stars One of the Better Buffy Novels
As it is with most Buffy novels it isn't the monster that you are battling its the internal conflicts with the group. And when Faith is added to the Buffy equation things get a bit intense. Buffy has her own past demons to trump, just like new good girl Faith. And in the end this book is a thrilling ride with a wonderfully ending that gives you a sense of peace over the Faith and Buffy debacle.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not that bad
People have written some pretty bad reviews about this book, but it isn't so terrible. He has done better, I will admit that, but this is not a bad story. It is still original and innovative with an interesting plot and ideas involving DNA. This is also more of a science fiction novel than a horror novel, and this might throw some people off. 4-0 out of 5 stars Not that bad

I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I really can't see why these other people didn't like The Grave. It was such a good book!Yes, parts of it were a bit confusing, but if you actually READ IT ALL TO THE END, it's quite understandable. It really gets you into it. I couldn't put it down.I highly recommend this book and this author. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great book
I have always loved the story of "The Headless Horseman", so I was excited to read this book. After their mother dies, Aimee and Shane Lancaster move to the town of Sleepy Hollow with their father.Right when they arrive strange things start happening and a lot of creatures start appearing.Aimee and Shane along with their new friend Stasia must stop them all by first stopping the Headless Horseman.Overall it was a great book.It got boring at times, but not for long!Christopher Golden did a great job retelling the story of "The Headless Horseman" in a whole new way.I loved it and I can't wait to read the others!

4-0 out of 5 stars An Interesting New Take On The Sleepy Hollow Lore
"The Hollow: Horseman" by Christopher Golden and Ford Lytle Gilmore, is a Young-Adult novel of suspense and horror adapted from the classic Washington Irving short story (That being "The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow"). For fans of the classic in any form (Disney's old cartoon version, the 1999 Tim Burton film, etc.), Golden's novel is a welcome addition.
4-0 out of 5 stars GOOD START TO NEW SERIES BY GOLDEN
Christopher Golden has got to be one of the busiest writers in the world. From comic books to Buffy novels to the Outcast series, one wonders where he finds time to do it all.Actually this one is co-written by Ford Lytle Gilmore. This is the start of a new series by Golden set in Sleepy Hollow.Three more books in the series are already planned. In this one, two teens move with their family to the little town of Sleepy Hollow, New York.Everything seems pleasant enough in the beginning but then soon the kids find out that the old legends of the mysterious Headless Horseman may be more than just a story to scare kids. As they attempt to solve the mystery they find themselves being pursued by the Horseman and hell itself.

5-0 out of 5 stars another great book from Lois Duncan!
This book was really intriguing and kept you wanting more. Some people don't like the fact that this book was slow, but I liked that it gradually went along without too many clues about the ending. It moved along at a comfortable pace and had a lot of character development which has always been important to me.I also liked that it didn't really have ONE climax, but many of them, all leading up to the final part of the book where everything came to a heart stopping ending.
4-0 out of 5 stars Great book
This is a great book! i no a lot of younger teenagers feel that its very slow and confusing.. and the truth is it is! There are questions that u ask at the end of the book but if ut hink about it.. dont all books leave u that way? This is a great book...its based on real life problems where someone goes missing and u have questions espeically if at the end they dont ever show up... This book is about two boys who go missin...and dont turn up....its a slow book but its just like real life....I strongly recomend this book to anyone!

1-0 out of 5 stars Jack McNamara
I read other Lois Duncan books, but this one is the worst. It is about two boys who supposedly go "hiking in the woods" but never come back. This book makes know sense and it is very confusing. First of all, the reason why they go "into the woods" is because they are both involved in a drug smuggling scam and it is destroying their lives, and one of them pushes the other down. One problem, Joan (one of the boys' sister) talks to a girl named Peggy. To Joan, Peggy seems awfully familiar to her. Then, when she gets home she says "Now Joan knew where she had seen Peggy before, she was staring at her in the mirror" referring to herself! What is that supposed to mean?! Also, the ending made no sense, just read it for yourself! I don't recommend this book! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Average, Okay Book
Plot: 15-year-old Jake Lefkovitz travels to the Amazon, where his father (a bat biologist) and his research team are on an expedition. Two of Dr. Lefkovitz's workers are missing. As it turns out, the two workers were mutilated by a giant bat. Jake, Dr. Lefkovitz, and the workers must find a way to stop the bat.3-0 out of 5 stars Ok but nothing special
It was an ok book but there were definite flaws in it. First off he does a bad job of describing some of the traps used in defeating the bat- that could just be me. Once the boy was left to face the bat alone it was pretty unrealistic that he could kill it when they couldn't when the whole group was there. Zindel is capable of much better but it is still worth the time.

4-0 out of 5 stars Bats
Zindel's newest and last book depicts a boy and his father fighting a giant bat. 15-year old Jake, flies to the Amazon where his father is having a expedition. His father is a zoologist, a person who studies bats. 2 men have gone missing. Jake and Hanuma go to see where the men are and find out they have been devoured by bats. On the way back Hanuma is killed by a giant bat. {Hanuma screamed as his chest was torn open and his blood spilled onto the pathway}. Next is the cook, who meets a gruesome fate. Finally, after Rasdyr is killed Jake and his father set out to kill the bat. ... Read more

As the fifth book in the Night World series, 'The Chosen' improves on all four of the previous books, drawing on deeper themes and ideas than the rest, and setting the scene for this continuing trend in the next book 'Soulmate'.
