And while the memories of the vicious pranks, and horrific murders are still emblazoned in everyone's minds, they are nothing more than a part of the past. Everything is back to normal. At last. The friends who are still breathing - Dana, Jamie, Nate, Shark, Lewis - are trying to put their lives back together, and still meet late at night at their beloved hangout, Nights, where they can forget about the past. After all, it was Angelica Fear's ancient spirit that was wreaking havoc. And now Angelica is dead. Burned in a fire that destroyed her body, soul, and spirit for all eternity. But if it's true. If Angelica is truly dead, then how come Jamie still feels an evil spirit lingering around. And what did Angelica actually mean when she screamed out, "The evil lives," through the crackling of the flames.

3-0 out of 5 stars Door to Alternity
"Door to Alternity" continues the "Unseen" triligy with the connection between missing children in L.A. and monsters appearing in droves in Sunnydale becoming clearer.Team Angel and The Scobbie Gang are working harder than ever as they try to solve the mysteries and keep the monsters under control. Also the reason for all these strange occurences becomes clear; it dates back to a Cold War science experiment by the KGB to alter reality, all for the glory of the State. Now it is being used to try to blackmail prominant U.S. citizens to bring back the glory days. Also a gang war brakes out between the Mexican Mob and the Russians. All of this makes for a very complicated story, there is a lot going on.Sometimes it gets a little confusing, but never so bad you can't follow the story. It was ok, but certainly suffering from being the bridge book. You have a lot of information and set up for the last book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful! Enchanting!
I really enjoyed this series and each book just keeps getting better and better.I love the whole love triangle of two vampire brothers and the beautiful young girl torn between them!
5-0 out of 5 stars Another fantastic read!
The thrills keep on coming in this book as the mystery deepens and you find yourself trying to solve the mystery along with the other characters.
3-0 out of 5 stars "I Hate You the Most. Because I Loved You the Best"
"The Fury" is the third book in the "Vampire Diaries" saga by L. J. Smith, which really should have been the last in the series, but was followed up by an unfortunate and unneccessary sequel. But that belongs in another review, and "The Fury" is a reasonably satisfying wrap-up of the events begun in "The Awakening" and "The Struggle".Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Disapointing
Parents should be aware of the suggestive comments in chapter one and the crude comments in the last chapter before buying this book for their kids.It is disapointing that the author had to rely onthis stuff instead of being really creative. It's going into the trash at our house.

5-0 out of 5 stars EverWorld is the best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone says that I shouldn't read Ever World because I am 10. But I love Ever world and if you read this book you'll feel like your there whith them !

4-0 out of 5 stars Evil gods, ugly cyclops, death, and destruction
Can you imagine a beautiful land where magic rules with nymphs, fairies, and leprechauns? Looks can be deceiving. This wonderful place is ruled by evil gods, ugly Cyclops, death, and destruction. This destruction may become worse or it may cease when seven kids from New York appear there. The name of the novel as you probably already know is Gateway to the Gods which is part of a series called Everworld written by K.A. Applegate. This particular story takes place in the Greek part of Everworld, where it's always temperate, always light, and always summer. It takes place in 2000 but the technology dates way back to the 1800's. There's no need for technology when there's magic. The protagonist is Christopher Hitchcock, he's funny at the wrong times but brave and outgoing at the right times. He's about seventeen, it doesn't say in the book but he can drive, and also goes to high school. The main conflict for Chris was to hold off enemy troops at Mt. Olympus which becomes impossible. 4-0 out of 5 stars FAV BOOK SINCE MIDDLE SCHOOL
When I was in middle school, Lois Duncan's Stanger With My Face, was my all time favorite book. Every time they had a new L.D. book, I made it my business to check it out!
5-0 out of 5 stars The Ultimate Review!
This book was very interesting and it is a real page turner. This book had some weird twist to it that you just wanted to find out what happened next. This book is about these two twin's who were separated at birth. One of the twin's went to an adoption agency and the other went to a great family. In the original family they had this special power where you can astral project. This is a rare ability but this family, except the good twin, used it for sinister intentions.Astral projection is where your soul leaves your body but you are still alive...until the "cord" that keeps you attached to your body breaks.

3-0 out of 5 stars Slow until the end
Okay I have to say all in all this book was slow and boring until the last three chapters where you're left wanting to know what will happen.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bring on volume 3!!"ABSOLUTE MIDNIGHT"
This book (along with book one, ABARAT) is surely going to go down in history as a "classic series" of books. It's the second in a 5 part series aimed at young adults and adults in general. Book one sets up the story and even though that book leaves alot unanswered this second book delivers on the promises of the first. The only problem is that we still have to wait until october 2007 (at the earliest!) for the 3rd volume!!. Clive Barker is currently writing an adults only novel at present called "The Scarlet Gospel" which he will hand in to his publishers toward the end of 2006 and then he will begin writing ABARAT 3: ABSOLUTE MIDNIGHT. It's worth a mention on how well produced these books are, rich glossy pages which contain some truly bizzare pieces of art work and even under the dust jacket the books have superb cover boards. Everything about these books has quality about them, they are heavy to which adds to thier sumptuous feeling. Buy the hardcovers for your collection and buy the mass market paperbacks (no illusrations) for reading copies. Im certain book 3 will go one better than the first 2 in the series and I for one, can't wait!

5-0 out of 5 stars The amazing story gets up to speed
Picking up right where the first book left off, Candy Quackenbush continues her travels throughout the wonderfully strange world of Abarat, in search of an explanation of why she arrived there in the first place. Christopher Carrion, the Lord of Midnight, is far from happy with the failing attempts of his henchmen Criss-Cross Man in trying to capture Candy, but decides to give him one final chance. Carrion is convinced that the little girl knows some secret that will destroy his ultimate dream of creating eternal night on the Abarat archipelago. Candy will need the help of Malingo, the geshrat she rescued from the clutches of the evil Wizard Kaspar Wolfswinkel, to fight against the Lord of Midnight's evil freaks.
5-0 out of 5 stars lover of clive and his art
I have loved Clive Barker since I was maybe 16, now I am 29 and I still love him and reread his books every year. With the Abarat series, I at first was thinking from the reviews that it was for young people, but Clive makes reading his work enjoyable and engrossing for all.Granted, I read the book in a day as well as the second one the next day, but his art is imaginative and it gives you a glimpse into this master storytellers minds eye.I love the storyline and cannot wait for the next parts to come out.For those of you, who think he is only"HORROR", you are very wrong. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars good book.
My sister told me to read this book and I didn't know what it was about or what to expect.
5-0 out of 5 stars A very action packed vampire story
Midnight Predator is a magnificent book that captures the reader in to another world. I found that it is very interesting story that kept me enchanted in till the very last page. I don't think this book disserved only 3 1/2 but disserved 5. This is a wonderful read for teens that enjoy dark stories like my self. I would recommend this book to every one and any one.

4-0 out of 5 stars A midnight triller
Midnight Predator is one of my favorite stories. It is one of Amelia's best works, I think so at least. This book was thrilling. I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in vampires and slave trades. I love the girl that was once a slave to a vampire and then when she gets free she sells herself back into Midnight, the place where the slave trade of humans mostly takes place.

Editorial Review

Three-hundred-year-old Risika looks darn good for her age. Thanks toher "blood mother," a vampire named Ather who turned Risika (nee Rachel) into one of the undead back in 1684, she will always look as fresh as a 17-year-old. Now Risika is a world weary night stalker who sleeps in Concord, Massachusetts, by day and prowls New York City by night, in search of fresh blood to slake her inhuman thirst. One of the benefits of living such a long life has been discovering that most of the popular myths about vampires are not true: "Holy water and crosses do not bother me... and silver does not burn me. If someone hammered a stake through my heart, I suppose I would die, but I do not play with humans, stakes or mallets." In fact, there is little in the mortal world that surprises Risika anymore, until she returns from a hunt one night to find a black rose on her pillow--the same flower she was given on the eve of her mortal death. Knowing that the rose is a taunt from Aubrey, a vampire she believes murdered her human brother, Risika decides to confront her nemesis. In a bloody battle with Aubrey, Risika finally unearths her brother's true fate.Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars An Uninspired and Misadventured Indulgence
In a word, this is the stultifying kindred of the thronging vampire titles out there, and offers very little that sets it aside from its flourishing species. Its grandiloquence is so rife, that it almost acts as comic relief (I remember the writer says "caterwauling voices" or something of the like in the first few pages, which is absolutely hilarious), and the main character has such an attitudinal untowardness, and resorts so often to contumacious and obstreperous new-age cliches, that you think, "Wow, what a heartless bitch." And to that degree, it is one of those books that are so dreadful, that you just have to read it. Its being read is a kind of "dirty little secret" of mine, you see. Two stars for that, methinks.

3-0 out of 5 stars ... *cough*
Yes, I know that most people would think that this is amazing for a thirteen-year-old, but to be honest, I've seen better from peole even younger than her. And, this book wasn't even published until she was like, fifteen. Sure this book was "okay", but I think she could have done way better. Still, this is probably the best book she has ever written, as the others really do suck (and have you noticed that all of her novels are about really pretty seventeen-year-old girls that turn into vampires at some point or another? it's pretty cliched). If your going to read any of Amelia Atwater-Rhoades at all, I'd suggest this one. I've read all of her book except Hawksong, and not even because she was good, but because I figured she'd get better, and I was curious of how she would portray the vampiric world. But really, you'd probably be better just skipping this book and picking up "Twilight" if you want to read a good vampire book.

4-0 out of 5 stars 3 and 1/2 stars...good for a 13 year old...

5-0 out of 5 stars been re-reading it for 10 years
I find it very interesting that a lot of the reviews for this book have been made by adults commenting about re-reading it years after the fact and still in love with it.There's a shelf of books in my office that I have been re-reading since childhood, books that I can never let go of, that I've bought second copies of 'just in case'.This is one of them.

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME
I have read this book at least 30 times.I first read it when I was 13, in 1983 and it really made me think about who I was and who I wanted to be.I last read it last week at 35 and I am now passing it along to my 13 year old son.It is a book that should be read by everyone, teens and parents alike will get a kick out of this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Grounding of Group 6
This was a super book when I was a teenager. Eventhough that has been some 20 years ago, I remembered this book and title. I let a friend borrow the book back in those days and never got it back, which was a bummer. The reason I bought this book again was for my teenage step daughter to read over summer vacation and as a great book to pass down from generations.

Editorial Review

Coraline lives with her preoccupied parents in part of a huge oldhouse--a house so huge that other people live in it, too... round, old formeractresses Miss Spink and Miss Forcible and their aging Highland terriers ("Wetrod the boards, luvvy") and the mustachioed old man under the roof ("'Thereason you cannot see the mouse circus,' said the man upstairs, 'is that themice are not yet ready and rehearsed.'") Coraline contents herself for weekswith exploring the vast garden and grounds. But with a little rain she becomesbored--so bored that she begins to count everything blue (153), the windows(21), and the doors (14). And it is the 14th door that--sometimes blocked with awall of bricks--opens up for Coraline into an entirely alternate universe. Now,if you're thinking fondly of Read more

I recommend this book to anyone that loves mystery or scary stories. As Christina and Terri are driving down the street Christina says, " 'Hey, look at the hitchhiker, he's cute, looks like a killer.' Terri said, 'Christina--I don't like this.' 'What could happen?' "Christina responds. Another, reason why I recommend this book, because it tells that you should never get in car with a stranger. At the beginning Terri tried to tell him it was a mistake. "That's why I was so cruel to you when we first met, I was trying to warn that you got yourself into trouble with us." In conclusion, if you like reading mystery books or a scary story for a sleepover I recommend that you read this book. It is full of suspense!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent time-travel story - involving my second fave witch, Phoebe
I have a penchant for time-travel stories, as they are striking, interesting, not to mention compelling. This book is inevitably one of them. Phoebe being abducted into past by a time-demon during the times of the Salem Witch Trials was huge (amazing)!! I'm not going to reveal details of the story, but what I don't get is that how on earth could the Charmed Ones use their powers in the past, and how the Law of no coincidences is oblivious to the author.
5-0 out of 5 stars Phoebe Story Finally
Finally, a Phoebe episode [well book] that any Charmed fan can get behind. It's a time travel piece and a family get-together. Need I say more?

5-0 out of 5 stars Another great Charmed book
Fantastic addition to the Charmed series :) Not as good as 'Soul of the Bride' but up there with the best of the books.

2-0 out of 5 stars I Think Kathy Bates May Have Ordered This MISERY
I was so eager to read the Dark Reunion because the entire series up until this point had been nothing short of amazing. As I waited for the last book to arrive, I couldn't help but skim over a few reviews, most of which were not that positive.Oh, how I should've listened to the warnings. This book was AWFUL!I enjoyed it up until the point Damon decided to disappear for a few chapters (he and Bonnie are my favorite characters).
2-0 out of 5 stars No comparison to the first three.
Unless you're the kind of person who cannot stand to read a book without a happy ending...don't bother. The resurection of Elena is contrived...and it seems like it's just an effort to capitalize on the (well deserved) success of the first three novels.and um, it's a trilogy.why are there four books? It doesn't always make sense, and is pretty pointless.Don't beat a dead horse...this book proves it, even if they don't stay dead, it's just not a good idea.

4-0 out of 5 stars a book that is out of this world!!!
this book was g8 but i thought it was to short. elena comes bak rite at the end i want to no wot hapens next. so L.J.Smith is there gonna a next book and if so whens does it come out? im dieing to no!!!!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars The Afterlife
The Afterlife by Gary Soto was a fascinating book. In the story, a man with yellow shoes has murdered Chuy. The book is about Chuy, and his thoughts and actions in the afterlife. Now being a ghost, he can pass through buildings and people, but his touch leaves behind a cold chill. The story is fascinating because you feel sorry for him, and his lost life. You can understand his emotions. Chuy is an average kid who tries to do good in his afterlife, to make things better for at least one person. It is also about his meeting with other ghosts and the impacts he has on them. I liked this book because it makes you think about what you would do as a ghost. The story was really well told, and Gary Soto puts you into the life of this kid. I recommend this book to anyone who can stand blood and gore, but likes a happy ending. It was a great read and you don't want to put it down until you've finished.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Afterlife by Gary Soto
The book that i read was titled: "The Afterlife" by Gary Soto. It has 158 pages. It's about a high school boy named Jesus, but everyone just calls him Chuy. As you've probably guessed, he dies in the first chapter. The book is about him wandering around as a ghost.
4-0 out of 5 stars weak ending
I have read this story more than once (I'm a teacher), but each time I come to the same conclusion: the writer must have gotten busy with something else because his ending is so weak. How can a writer write such a good story and then just let the ending fizzle.Even my students mentioned that the ending was disappointing. However, I have noticed this same thing in other young adult novels. ...
