4-0 out of 5 stars Good Book
I like the book, maybe it hasent been my favorite book, but it has some meaning in it, for example: culture discrimination, how tenns see the world today, so on and so fort. You can actually understand a subculture by reading this book, and also it helps you understand the outside world.

Editorial Review

The teen queen of horror fiction Amelia Atwater-Rhodes is on the prowl again! Continuing in much the same vampire vein that established her reputation, the young writer's sophomore novel also includes a touch of autobiography. Jessica Allodola is a high school senior who pens vampire tales under the pseudonym Ash Night. (Hmmm, sound familiar?) Because of her funereal clothing and cynical demeanor, Jessica is shunned by her sunnier classmates. No matter, she prefers the company of the undead she creates on her laptop, anyway. But Jessica is shaken when a creature from her novel, the suave vampire Aubrey (who fans will remember from Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Demon in my view
Jessica's story ideas come to her in dreams. She dreams of vampires: how they're changed, their fights, their love, even their secret hide out. She doesn't really believe in vampires. She doesn't know that her dreams are all real. But the vampires do and they're ticked. Aubrey is sent to kill her but he just cant. So Fala gives him a choice: kill her or change her.

3-0 out of 5 stars Detail but not depth...
Detail but not depth. That is exactly the phrase that came into my mind as I finished reading 'Demon in my View'. I know some people are being forgiving because of the age of the author, 15 at the time, but age really is no excuse. Being a 16 year old myself and also a writer I have no problem pointing out the washed-out plotline Rhodes portrays.
5-0 out of 5 stars Inspiring book for Young Writers
Wow this book is really amazing. Amelia Atwater-Rhodes was only 13 when she wrote demon on my view and did a fantastic job. You could really tell she worked very hard on it. This book is excellent and will enchant you till the very end.

This book was great!
4-0 out of 5 stars Another Success!
The second volume in the "Blue" series, Stolarz continues on with her captivating writing style in the story of Stacie Brown. This is another book that's hard to put down until you're done and is an easy read. The best twist is the introduction of another Witch and the bait-and-switch of who we think are trying to get Stacie.I take a star off because of the slight predictability of the climax and the revelation of the antagonist, whom we get very little foreknowledge of until towards the end.But nonetheless, this is a terrific book.If you liked "Blue is for Nightmares," then you will love "White is for Magic."

2-0 out of 5 stars Tries to Hard
I can understand how some people might be able to think this book is great. The begining is flawlessly strung together with a creepy vagueness, not unlike twilight zone(not sure if that is intentional). But sending the character into a setting with not much reason just because it adds to the story makes it a little stupid. Then adding romance to it intenisifies the mediocrity, and finally, the books randomnly adds zombies...what??? yes, zombies. Mix in a couple chapters devoted to actually getting ready for a trip (which is the most detail in the entire book), a corny destruction of the villian, and a stupid twist that makes you vomit a little in your mouth, you get a book that could have been awesome.
5-0 out of 5 stars This book rocks
One huge event could change your life or someone else's life in a mere second. Ken, after discovering his best friends Roger's death, feels he could die almost any day, so he wants to become invulnerable. He searches all of Manhattan for someone who could help him, and finds a woman named Cherri Buttercup who offers an extremely low price. To make Ken invulnerable she nearly kills him with blowfish venom, and takes out his soul and hides it. Without his soul he can't get hurt or die. To take advantage of this Ken goes to the Caribbean to try to get bitten by a shark. Once there he meets a local (Sabine) who knows what Cherri really did to him. Ken is harmless during the day, but during the night he may kill whether he wants to or not. She has made him into a mindless zombie when he sleeps. The two go on a desperate and suspenseful attempt to retrieve his soul. In this attempt Ken develops a deep relationship with Sabine. They find out that retreiveing the soul is more complicated than they thought, and they're running out of time, so they'd better act fast.
3-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good
It's a pretty good book, but unfortunatly although the plot is extremely original, it lacks some of the excitement that some of Sleator's other books have.If you haven't read Interstellar Pig, Singularity, The Green Futures of Tycho, The Boy Who Reversed Himself, or any other 'classic Sleator,' I suggest you check them out first.I enjoyed this book, even though it has a few inconsistencies.

3-0 out of 5 stars okay
This book was interesting to me and usually I don't read books like this but it is appealing. I like the characters and the style of writing that meg cabot uses. But I just didn't like the way the ending turned out but I still want to read the rest of the series.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Good Third book (Spoiler Warning)
The third book in the Mediator Series, "Reunion", wasn't anything I expected it to be. In the third book I expected Jesse and Suze to get together, which didn't happen.I also suspected it to be a little slow, which it wasn't at all.It was very quick, and you had to make sure stuck up with the last suspesion that maybe the RLS Angels are right... maybe their killer really DID kill them on purpose... maybe they do have the right to be mad... maybe, just maybe....

1-0 out of 5 stars What's So Funny?
I found this book not morally complex or sophisticated so much as just plain offensive and cruel.I don't see the point of taking us inside the minds of teens who would even consider such a brutal crime as kidnapping and terrorizing another human being. This has none of the layers and provocative questions of "Lord of the Flies."It was, to me, pointless. Most teens I know are interested in cleaner fare, in deep questions about life on other subjects. And despite the predominance of disturbing themes and plots in teen novels, many teens I know look for other books instead; they really aren't that interested in stories of kidnap, rape, incest, suicide, and murder.

4-0 out of 5 stars Every Teen's Secret Fantasy Revealed
Killing Mr. Griffin was the first Lois Duncan book that I have read and already I can't wait to get my hands on all of her other novels. This book tells what would happened if teens actually carried out their secret desires of killing their toughest, least understanding, and most hated teachers. The story has the five major sterotypes of high school;the shy, nerdy, smart girl;the beautiful, all-american, seinor body president; The popular, cute, blonde cheerleader;the misunderstood, expressionless, cool guy; and the big, loud, sports star. I liked how Lois Duncan brought these five different students together to hatch an unknownly deadly kidnapping plot. My two problems with this book is it kepted switching from one character to another and it was hard to tell who the definite main character was. It eaisly could have been Susan but then again David was a very important character. Also, I wanted to find out what the student's sentences were and if Mark went to jail or a mental hospital. But other than that I would definatly recommend this book to my friends.

Editorial Review

Imogene Yeck, former gang member and current fairy butt-kicker, is the cool "blue girl" at the center of Charles de Lint'slatest urban fantasy novel. Seventeen-year-old Imogene jumps at the chance to lose her bad girl reputation when her family moves to a new town. She purposely lays low at Redding High, only making friends with Maxine, a shy, studious girl who is Imogene's opposite in every way. Despite a few run-ins with the ruling football jock and his cheerleader girlfriend, Imogene keeps her temper in check and even lends some of her bravado to Maxine, who begins to come out of her straight-A shell. Things are going well for the new friends--until the day Imogene meets Adrian, the benign ghost of a boy who died in the school's parking lot. Adrian and Imogene's unusual connection attracts the unwelcome attention of Redding High's resident Little People, or fairies. Affronted by streetwise Imogene's lack of belief in them, the fairies set into motion a malevolent prank that will not only turn Imogene completely blue from head to toe, but pit her, Adrian and Maxine against some of the most frightening beings of the Otherworld--the soul-sucking Anamithims. de Lint's Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Interesting reague, but vague.
I picked up this book on accident while browsing the teen section.A friend from work reccomended Charles De Lint to me because I was on a Vampire rampage tearing through a few Anne Rice and Stephenie Meyer's Twilight and he was supposedly a good sci-fi/fantasy writer, but I never had the chance to pick up any of his books. But the cover caught me, then I recognized the Author, so I though what the heck.I couldn't put this one down, but while reading it, I felt the plot was slow, then rushed than slow, as if the turning points were placed too far apart and then too close. The whole Idea of the Faeries and Shadows though was really interesting and is what held me to the story, but I felt it was sort of vague like it could have been elaborated on a bit more. I was let down because the story closed as if there's no room for a sequel.

4-0 out of 5 stars Reading Blue Girl won't leave you blue
If a new girl came up to you at your high school and said you reminded her of her childhood imaginary friend, would you want to be friends with her?Imogene certainly isn't your average school girl. She's got a past from her old town that she's trying to change, and if she's not careful, she won't have much a future to look forward to.
4-0 out of 5 stars The blue girl
"you look just like an imageninary friend I had when I was a kid, only older, ya know?" Is the first thing ever that Imogene Yeck says to Maxine Chancey on her first day at Redding High. Imogene who in the past has caused alot of trouble, running with gangs and skipping school, but shes determined to behave herself at this school. So it works out perfectly that Maxine becomes her only friend, Maxine is good girl, quiet, and called a "loser" by her peers. Maxine helps Imogene stay out of trouble while Imogene helps Maxine live a little. But unfortunatly trouble shows up anyway, and Maxine and Imogene are swept up in things they could never imagine. It all starts when Imogene notices this boy whose always around her at school, staring at her , but no one sees him. It turns out he is a boy who died in 1998 and has been haunting the school ever since, and he has a crush on Imogene. She meets him, who's name is Adrian, and he tells her that fairies killed him. Imogene dose not belive him thinking fairies arnt real. Boy is she wrong, upset Adrian asks the fairies to help Imogene be able to see them. The fairies in attempt to getImogene to see them acidentally bring her to the attention on the anamithim. The anamithim are soul eaters and now they want Imogenes. Imogene trys to fight the anamithim with Maxine, and her old imaginary friend. All the while Adrian is trying to save Imogene, but is to scarded to do the one thing he knows will save her. Letting the anamithim take his soul instead of Imogene's.

I thought this series was the best! I devoured book by book, in less than an hour. The dialogue in this book is great, and the characters are entertaining. You fall in love with Jesse, one of the main charcters, who is a ghost! That's how believable this book is. Each book in the series gets better and better. I highly recommend this book for teens, but anyone can read them. Enjoy!

3-0 out of 5 stars Deja Spike All Over Again
This book fails for a number of reasons, none of which is the writing.Gallagher puts in an honest effort, and if good writing was all it took to create a great story, Spark and Burn would be a success.Unfortunately, the problem with the book appears right on the front cover, where we are promised an 'original novel,' and it never goes away.
1-0 out of 5 stars just plain bad
I agree with most of the other reviews, this book was horrible. I read the discription on the back of the book and was instantly interested ( being a huge spike fan ) and bought it. but I was very disapointed, the whole thing is just flash backs that come directly from the show and the autor didnt add anything. I would rather just watch the show!!! Plus the flash backs are out of order, leaving you confused. DON'T BUY THIS BOOK, YOU WILL REGRET IT.

3-0 out of 5 stars Boring and Depressing
This book rehashes info from the show, no new material, and is depressing in that the Spike character acts more like Angel in his depressed, regretful view (one reason I'm not crazy about Angel. To mopey.)It may be important to visit this topic for character development, but the epi on tv was enough. It would be nice to have some fiction that tells Spike's story after "Angel", maybe with some Spuffy love. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Mediatorseries is awesome!
This whole series was awesome. Every one was excellent. A great love story.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Favorite in the whole series! (Spoiler Warning)
The fifth book in the Mediator Series, Haunted, is my favorite in the whole series. It's amazing and shows just how much Suze is not indestructable and how human she is and that even she can make huge mistakes. After Jeese's standoffish behavior since their kiss, Suze feels vulerable. She gets taken advantage off by Paul Slater-- the same Paul Slater whom she meet at her summer job at the golf course, and the same Paul who is now attending her school-- and ends up kissing him.SHe tries to hide it from Jesse, with no sucess.Paul also says that if she doesn't keep hanging out with him, he'll get rid of Jesse for good, which she can't let happen. After all of this-- and the fact that Father Dominic has decided that because of Jesse and Suze's "incident", Jesse must move into the rectory-- will Suze ever have Jesse admit how much he needs her?Of course!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Unique Blast
Meg Cabot's kept her promises and has added another truly fantastic book to the compelling Mediator series. Meet Susannah "Suze" Simon, whose life is getting more complicated by the minute. Her heart belongs to Jesse, a gorgeous 19th century ghost that haunts her bedroom - in a good way - but Paul Slater, who's unexpectantly turned up at the Mission and is described by his grandfather as 'the spawn of the devil' is keen to take her breath away. And, as much as Suze hates to admit it, he's succeeding.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another good book
This is the type of book I get a little sad when I get near the end. Must read!

5-0 out of 5 stars 1 of the best Buffy books
This is 1 of my favorite books ever, 1 f my favorite story lines was Blood and Brine I loved the pirate slayer. My favorite story in this book was the last 1 where Buffy, Willow, and Xander go back in time I loved the fact that Buffy got to see her mom again and that she wasn't stuck with Dawn for once. I think that when the show brought Dawn on the show and killed Buffy's mom is when they ruint Buffy, from the 5th season on the show slowly went downhill. I HIGHLY recommend this book it is definitely the best Buffy book in the series.

5-0 out of 5 stars I loved this Book..........
I've always love BTVS because of the Mythology of the Slayer line and how she's Chosen and all of that, I also love the characters and how they're written so well.....But i've often wondered about Past Slayers, what they were like, and what their life was like because as we've always known, Buffy is just one of many Slayers throughout the Years. I loved this Book and how it told about Different Slayers from Different Era's and how that particular Era effected their Duty as the Slayer. Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Interesting Vampire Story
The Last Vampire is a good horror novel, but fails to draw you in completely. The main character, Alisa Perne, or Sita, is a stunning, petite blonde who has lived as a wandering vampire for five thousand years. It gets tiring hearing her talk about how beautiful she is, and how she knows men love to look at her body.It is also tiring as she lists endless super-human traits she owns that make her invincible.Pike seems like he just couldn't stop listing abilities. His writing is flawed in places.
5-0 out of 5 stars The last vampire #1
This book was really good i could hardly put it down. Sita or Alisa Perne is telling the story of her life. She also explaines her fears. When she falls in love with a boy named, Ray Riley, she finds out that he is in danger.Pat, Ray's girlfriend, is suspicious of Alisa. I could tell that Pat was very upset. I like this book because I love to read about vampires. I think others should read it. It's a good book! So drop what your doing and read it or Sita will get you! Beware of vampires.........

Editorial Review

During the witch hunts of the mid-1600s, many young Englishwomen died onthe gallows, innocent victims of false or hysterical accusations of witchcraft. But what of those women who actually claimed the name "witch" as their own? Inthe pages of her secret journal, Mary Nuttall reveals what it is like to live ina climate of mistrust and piety in which differences are dangerous and rumorscan kill, where she must hide her heritage as a healer and pagan. With a surehand, she describes her beloved grandmother's trial and hanging as a witch, herown rescue by a mysterious noblewoman, and her eventual passage to the New Worldand the forest settlement of Beulah. There Mary falls under a curtain ofsuspicion when she willingly chooses to explore the dark woods shunned by thefearful colonists and makes friends with some of the spiritual native people. When several girls in the community begin to shriek and swoon, and the sameminister who damned Mary's grandmother comes to search for signs of witchcraft,Mary is subjected to close and deadly scrutiny.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Witch Child
Outstanding read.I am no longer a young adult and I enjoyed it immensely.Highly recommended especially if the occult interests you.

5-0 out of 5 stars a wonderful novel
That is a wonderful novel and gives a vivid picture of what it would be like to be a woman in the new world at the time of 1600... a must-read for all readers that have interest in nature religions and history.

5-0 out of 5 stars Thrilling tale of the times in early Salem.
"Witch Child" is such a fascinating story and the forward immediately intrigued me and the afterward only further piqued my interest. The only time there was a lull was when they were on the ship coming to Salem.Otherwise, it was non-stop "action."The character of Mary is a noble one, and is the epitome of strength. The diary format was a good one, but I wasn't too fond of the dating method author Celia Rees used.I'm very interested in the sequel "Sorceress," and I look forward to reading it.I recommend. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Lord Loss
I always book-talk this book at the beginning of every school year.I warn the kids that this is a truly "gross" book.Very detailed in the death of his family. This book is not for the faint of heart. BUT, if they have a strong stomach, they'll love this book. I found in an interview with Darren Shan that he purposely did this so that the worst would be over and then the story begins. Since Jr. High students love gross and scary, I have a constant waiting list for this book. If you have Darren Shan's Cirque du Freak books, you have readers for an entire year.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Demonata 1- Lord Loss
I am a huge Darren Shan fan. My friends at school got me into him. When I started to read Cirque Du Freak I noticed that it was the fad of my school. Anyway I bought book 1 of CDF before taking a bus trip to Mexico for the summer. I was hoping the book would last me all summer, but it was so good that I read it full in two days. I became a Cirque Du Freak ADDICT after that and I read every single book. When I read Book 8 or somewhere around there I found out about The Demonata. I knew I would read it eventually, but I decided to wait until I finished Sons of Destiny. I stopped reading CDF at Volume 8, waiting for Volume 9 to come out on Paperback, but the urge was so big that I bought it in Hardcover anyway. I wish I hadn't because that drove me to buying Volume 10 and devouring it like all the others, which resulted in a LOOOOONG wait for Volume 11 to come out. That was when I considered the Demonata. But still I held through and waited until Sons of Destiny came out and I devoured it. Then I FINALLY bought Lord Loss and began to read it. I hated the start but once I got to Chapter 7 I found myself in the same situation as with CDF. I knew I would finish it fast so I bought Demon Thief. As soon as I got to the last word in Lord Loss (which is "Smiled") I found myself pouring over Demon Thief. I was a little dissapointed with it but I'm only on Chapter 8 so I'm pregudging it. I'll get back to you with my review for Demon Thief when I finish it so wait for it. It won't be long.

5-0 out of 5 stars GORE-TASTIC!!
I am a die hard cirqe du freak fan and when I found out the series was ending I was really disapointed but when I picked up the first demonata book I was blown away! The plot is wonderful and full of suspense I also liked the way the author portrayed dervish's mansion. If you're a little put off by the cover and the word demon than dont be because this is a perfectly kid appropriate book that I am sure you will enjoy! I cant wait to read the next one!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Is Frankestein a book for 13 years old and under
I enjoyed Frankestein, but I don't recommend the book for kids, unless they are really good readers. There are many words that are harder for kids to understand because it was written in old english. Frankestein was written very well even if it was a harder book. From the beginning to the end there was always some "action" or excitment going on. I don't want to discorage young readers from reading this book, but you'll understand it much better if you wait a couple of years to read it.

an enthusiastic scholar somehow creates new life; this awful creation, though, only serves to haunt him as he attempts to escape its reach.he flees to england, to switzerland and finally flies to the north pole, only to meet the crew of an adventure-bound ship and recount his chilling tale.

4-0 out of 5 stars Midnighters 2 is a must read!
I would definitely recommend Midnighters 2.Even if you haven't read Midnighters 1, they clearly explain what went on in the earlier book. I really loved the characters Jessica and Jonathan; their relationship in the story is powerful which makes them my two favorite characters. The character Melissa really grows as a person and as a mind reader throughout the story.

4-0 out of 5 stars excellent teen reading
In the genre of teen books, this is an excellent addition. While obviously not Tolstoy, still -- compared with adult books in the same genre, this is very well done. The characterization is consistent, the storyline interesting. This is the second book in the series about a group of teens in a small town in Oklahoma that has an extra hour each day, during which monsters come out.OK, sounds hokey. But actually, this is very readable.I recommend for young folks.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Book after all of my already favorites
If you liked The Uglies and the like you would love the triology of books called The Midnighters by Scott Westerfield. This is a great book to read after you read the first book. The second I think so far was the best book. It really captured and pulled me in and it was very emotional for me too. It is basically about some teenagers who live in Bixby, Oklahoma. For all you Midnighter's fans you know how many letters are in the city and state! They all can move around during the blue time and fight off the really creepy buggy things. I know real descriptive but, I cannnot remember what the name of them are, well I will get back to you on that. So, I rate it a good book for summer reading after or before you read your required reading if you have any! Happy Pre-Summer! *Tinkfairy_reader34 ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars a new look at vampires
Fran has always wanted a "normal" life, but when your mom is a witch, that's just not going to happen.Especially if said witch has dragged you out of school for the year and has you traveling Europe with her-- her and the GothFaire, that is. By the way, a GothFaire is a traveling group of witches, magicians, psychics, and other what are commonly refered to as weirdos. But when Benedikt joins GothFaire, Fran thinks things might be looking up, because he is completely hot.Hot enough to overlook the fact that he is a vampire, and she is supposed to redeem his soul.Despite all that, it's nice to have someone not think she's a freak, for a change, even if she is the most normal one with the Faire. And his kissing isn't half-bad either.Katie Maxwell employs her usual humor to something not usually thought of as humorous: vampires, and the result is magical.

5-0 out of 5 stars fangtastic
How can you be normal if you can tell what people are thinking just by touching them, your mother is a witch, and you had to leave your home in Oregan to travel around Europe with a GothFaire, where everyone has strange powers? You can't, as Fran is reakizing. She's just trying to get through the next couple of months without becoming scared for life. Then she meets Benedict-her best friend's brother. He's totally hot-for a 312 year old vampire. Well, OK, Fran can handle that-until he informs her that she is his Beloved-the only person who can redeem his soul.Great! Now Fran is stuck at the Freak Faire, trying to cover up her own power, with a gorgeous vampire trailing her around, trying to protect her while at the same time infuriating her with his macho " I am a vampire, I will protect you" deal. To make matters even worse, someone is stealing from the Faire, and Fran has to use her powers to find out who the culprit is, while at the same time trying not to fall for Ben.Will Fran ever be normal?

5-0 out of 5 stars fun story with romance
Fran is a teen girl who finds herself in small parts of europe with her mom and a band of people who are ,to say the lest, a little strange. then a very hot vampire shows up who seems to think that Fran and him belong together. this is a great new series by Katie Maxwell. just as good as the Emily books but not as funny. but there is more romance here. ...
