5-0 out of 5 stars Back From the Grave
The Boyfriend is an adventure and mystery for young readers. It honestly kept me guessing the whole time I was reading it. It starts out with the main character Joanna at the mall about to go on a date with her boyfriend Dex. Joanna is the kind of girl thats very rich, ever since her dad left her and her mom when she was little. At the mall she decides that she dosen't like him that muchand stands himup and leaves him there waiting for her. Later in the middle of the night she was sleeping and a knock at her bedroom window wakes her up, it was Dex, Dex always had a habbit of showing up at her window in the middle of the night. She lets him in. Than he asked her why she wasn't at the mall, and as usual she makes up a lie and says she forgot they had a date. He soon tells her to get dressed that there going to the Promontory. When they got there Dex started walking toward the cliff, Joanna walked after him. Joanna was sorta sad/mad mood, so Dex tried to get her attention so her so he started hopping on one foot, Joanna had begged him to stop, but than crack the ground under his feet started to crumble, "No"Joanna cried out, and in an instant Dex was gone. A while after that she got the news from his best friend Pete that Dex was dead. A couple days later Joanna was in her bed room, when she heard a knock at her window, "who could that be at this time of night?" Joanna asked herself. She turned her bedroom light on at her windoe there was a boy's face, "No it can't be, Dex?" she cried out. The figure started to make his way inside her bedroom. "Hi Joanna, its me Dex, whats wrong?" he asked her. "But Dex your dead!" She screamed.

Okay first this is a great book! It is a good book for older children to adults. It is about a young women who wants to break up with her boyfriend but he dies. But she does not know he is dead. I recomend this book very highley!

5-0 out of 5 stars REALLY GOOD BOOK!!!!!!!!
The book that I read was The Boyfriend and that was a very good desicion. It is in the horror genre and it really is scary. The plot line of this story is a girl wants to break up with her boyfriend but before she does he dies but then he comes back from the dead to haunt her. I really liked this book it was really real except for the zombies. The only part I didn't love was the fact that about 3 of the pages were kind of slow. My favorite charectar was the main charectar's best friend she wasgrounded, sweet, and nice even though she was rich. This book didn't have an intense learning part but I did like the part where she kind of understood what she did. I would recommened this book in a second, it was really awesome. If I could ask the author one question it would be where did you get your inpiration. I really liked this book because the charectars were really strong with there roles. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Cold in Summer - an awesome read!
Tracy Barrett has created a wonderful, enthralling read for young adults and adults!I always try to pre-read fiction before giving it to my daughter, and found this book incredibly intriguing.Once I started it, I couldn't stop!I read into the night, woke early to read before breakfast, had it in the car in case I got stuck in traffic, and hid it on my desk under my work to finish it.Truly a "can't put it down" book.
4-0 out of 5 stars Cold in Summer by Tracy Barrett
In this book Tracy Barret has excellent writing that took me into a whole other world where I could see the characters and feel the surroundings.I deffinetly would recommend this book.At first one would think "Oh I already know this. Why read the rest?"I promise it gets good.It tells you May is a ghost but the suspense is thrilling and really rewarding at the end.

2-0 out of 5 stars Somewhat disappointing
I'm trying to be open-minded as I write this review, but I must admit I was disappointed for the most part with "Boys that Bite" by Mari Mancusi. Though somewhat cliché, the storyline was decent and at some points entertaining.
5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderfully original blend of vampire/love/adventure drama which teens will find refreshingly different
Uh oh - the protagonist in Boys That Bite is turning into a vampire - and her mother is going to be so upset to find out! Not only because her mother isn't immortal herself, but because a vampire hottie has gone for her instead of her dark side loving twin. Add in a vampire slaying, a search for a holy grail, and more and you have a wonderfully original blend of vampire/love/adventure drama which teens will find refreshingly different.
5-0 out of 5 stars Fast, fun, and fabulous!
Sunshine (Sunny) McDonald will grab you from the start of this hilarious book. She's the voice of teens today, but with a twist. She's becoming a vampire because of a bite of mistaken identity.Just her luck to have an identical twin who really wants to be a vampire, but isn't at the right place, at the right time.A must-read for all the "fang fans." ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Unique but choppy
Arguably, this book was written for someone much younger than myself, yet I found I still enjoyed reading it. The sentence structure is a bit choppy, but considering the lead character and the age group this book was intended for, it works.
5-0 out of 5 stars Surprise Ending
Only VVV can pack so much in just 120 pages.Nyssa is a witch. When she goes to sleep with a token under her pillow (a lock of hair, a stone, a knife, a piece of clothe) she falls into the dreams of that person.Nyssa thought herself a selfish child until her parents were killed, now, six years later their killer has returned and she plans to expose him or else. But this strange young man seems to know more than Nyssa expects.
4-0 out of 5 stars A bit obvious, but still good
Sixteen year old Nyssa is a witch; she has the power to share other people's dreams. In the medieval town of Lindenwolde, that's not a good thing. If anyone finds out she is a witch, she will be killed. However, Nyssa is compelled to use her witchcraft to answer the question which has been haunting her for the last six years: who broke into her father's woodworking shop and murdered her parents?Nyssa is sure that it was Elsdon, the son of the most powerful man in town.Witnesses saw him in the area near her father's shop several days before the murder, and one of Nyssa's neighbors even saw him fleeing the shop right after the murder took place.Of course, the magistrate is much more likely to believe Elsdon's parents than a hysterical orphan. How do you prove someone guilty when the only evidence you can get will condemn you to death?

3-0 out of 5 stars Be Careful Who You Worship
This is the second novel in the Angel series (the first was the novelization of the season premier), once again by Nancy Holder, an established Buffy writer who has successfully made the transition to Los Angeles and our dark and broody vampire hero.3-0 out of 5 stars Not Forgotten
OK, so "Not Forgotten" is a little fuzzy. It dose take a little thought at the end to understand exactly what happened and what it means. But the Angel book line was still trying to find it's way.The story is that Indonesian fire death cult have moved to L.A. to find a sacred book important to their rituals. One of the cultist gets one of Angel's cards (never explained how) and tries to enlist his help.Meanwhile, Angel, Doyle (ah, the good old days of Doyle) and Cordilia are trying to save slaves from sweat shops.Like I said, the end is a little vauge, though it isn't that hard to figure out. What I did have a problem with was that Angel wasn't there as much as I'd like, nor was Doyle, Cordy, and Kate Lockley.Wolfram and Hart was also conspicuosly missing. The bad guys were kind of cool, and I liked that the evil fire-death god was still alive at the end.The flashback to Ireland was sort of pointless, also. So, I don't know what to say about this one, maybe it's not that bad, but it isn't that great either.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good characterization, plot just too weird
First of all, let me explain that I am a big fan of David Lynch and other very odd cinema and literature. However, it takes a very skillfull artist to make a mindwarp like "Twin Peaks" work without losing the audience completely in the process.Of course, when you go for the bizarre you'll lose some people, but when your die-hard fans start scratching their heads you have a problem.Read more

PALEO
1-0 out of 5 stars Bronto Buffy
There are some places no Slayer should ever go.Jurassic Park is one of them.Of all the Buffy books, this is the weakest by far.Aside from the odd juxtaposition of Buffy and dinosaurs, the book just plods along like a brontosaurus, itself.

4-0 out of 5 stars Buffy the Demon Dinosaur Slayer and Oz the Boy Wonder
Any Buffy the Vampire Slayer novel that offers up demon dinosaurs is already starting ahead of the game. After all, who would not be salivating at the very idea of the Slayer and the Scobbey gang taking on a trio of T. Rexes? But what really impressed me in Yvonne Navarro's novel was her characterization of Kevin Sanderson, a shy transfer student to Sunnydale High for has an avid interest in paleontology in general, and dinosaurs in particular. As presented in the first half of "Paleo," Kevin is arguably one of the best developed new characters to pop up in a Buffy book.Unfortunately, Kevin pretty much disappears from the last half of the novel as the dinosaurs take over and the action takes off.The other strength of "Paleo," giving Oz a prominent role second only to Buffy in the tale, actually cuts both ways.We all appreciate Navarro's attempt to put Oz into the spotlight, but, ironically, the more he talks, the less he sounds like Oz.Every time we get into Oz's mind, I feel like an alien presence and get worried Angel is going to show up and pop me one in the mouth (After you read "Paleo," you will get that one).As we know from the "Earshot" episode, Oz is as reticent in his internal monologue as he is in actual conversation.Clearly this problem is unique to the character rather than to Navarro as a writer and simply underline how difficult it is to open up Oz as a character.Overall, "Paleo" gets off to a great start, but abandoning Kevin's character in the second half and having the sub-plot regarding Alysa Bardrick trying to sign Dingoes Ate My Baby to a professional contract disappear until the epilogue takes away a lot of that momentum. However, as the epilogue clearly proves, the person Oz works really well with is Angel.Navarro's scenes featuring Oz and Angel together click throughout the book and definitely seems worth pursuing, if not in Sunnydale, then in L.A. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars I Don't Recommend This Book
I didn't really enjoy SweetBlood. Lucy Szabo was very negative and rude so I found it very hard to like her. When I read a book I want to feel the way the person in the bookdoes; laugh when she laughs, cry when she cries. In this book I didn't feel that at all, I thought she needed an attitude adjustment.
4-0 out of 5 stars me like da sweet blud!
I like the book "sweet blood." Although the beginning is a little bit creapy.quoting:"blood is my friend, without it I die." sounded as though this girl lucy was a vampire that likes blood. But she just tends to think about vampires alot because her theory is that vampires never really existed. She thinks these "vampires" are really diabetics for some reason. She my be a tad bit droopy and scary to some people she as an attitude that I just love. She makes people think that she is mad at them but she really just doesn't care. But when she starts hanging out with "DRACO" or i think wade or something. this guy that gets people thinking is he really a vamp. lucy starts to change a little because she begins to sneak out and drink wine when she knows that can make her glocuse or blook suger goes out of controlle she just doesn't care. But when she finially realizes that she has to do something to controlle herself she makes a complete 180 in her personality. Only with the same attitude. But she shaves her head and acts like the old lucy that was more up beat and happy. That is the thing that I like. ... Read more

The title of my book is Rats. It is an intriguing and locked on book. The author of this book is Paul Zindel. Paul Zindel really brings out the story, so you can visualize the things that are happening. Sarah and Michael are brother and sister and run into mutant rats. There dad works at a trash dump and the rats get pumped with methane gas, which makes them bigger and stronger. if you like monster books and mystery books this is the book for you. If you read rats paul zindel has more exciting and thrilling books so i suggest reading novels of Paul Zindel!

This book is one of the most amazing books i've ever read. it's got a great depth to it and explain in a discreet way about sociology and friendships. It's a page turner.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Book I've Ever Read!!!
This book is defianitely the best book out of all the Night World books, even though each of them are excellent in their own way! I think its just the way that Jez and Morgead's love is so pure and brilliant! Also Jez is so powerful! But Jez and Morgead are so different and them being together could never work, if Morgead knew her secret, that makes me never want to put the book down!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Heroine . . . Hero Needs a Little Work . . .
I've been a fan of L.J. Smith's since I first read "Chosen" six years ago.I've read all of her books, including her little known play on the King Authur myth that involves the Fey. I've read all of her trilogies, and the NightWorld books at least twice a piece.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is one of the best!!!
When I read the first part (the first horror) I was really scared. And I don't like to admit those things, so you can believe me. This and the other two books are about a house which better never should have been build. The house was build over a cemetery of the victims of the Fear Family. Insiders knew what sort of people the Fears where and why it's logical that the house is doomed. In 20 years nobody lived there but then the Frasiers (part one) and Cally Frasier has to stay in the house - as a ghost.

2-0 out of 5 stars not so great...
I am a big fan of fear street books, and I have about 30 at home. This book and The Dare are my two least favorites. Maybe it's just because I've been reading these for so long, but I knew who the killer was on the first couple pages. It's so obvious that it's jealousy. My favorites are Silent Night, All Night Party, Sunburn, and the New Year's Party. Go get one of those instead.

4-0 out of 5 stars Found this book and was amazed by the cover!
This is one of the fear street books that I've been looking for for a long time.I finally found it at my local library and went nuts just thinking about what RL Stine did in this story to make it scary. Anyway, it's about a girl named Selena who finds a love of acting at her highschool and is always the star of the plays there. After one of the plays, she finds a bouquet of dead roses in her locker. She is "haunted" by a secret admirer who leaves behind a sticker of the sun on every one of his notes. No, I'm not going to give it all away, but I will tell you that the ending really surprised me.If you love RL Stine as much as I do, and you know how he likes surprises, you should find this book and be sure to think about it as you read.

5-0 out of 5 stars I LOVE THIS BOOK !!!!! A MASTERPIECE!!!
i wasn't sure when i first bought this book that i would even finish it. but once i started i just couldn't put it down.Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Alright...
Bloodline I will admit was a page turner, but Mina...just no you can't do that. If you read Dracula you might be a little dissapointed this book could never in a million years live up to Bram Stroker's Dracula. Just like all classic things they are better left WITHOUT! sequals like the ever famous classic romance vampire novel Dracula.

5-0 out of 5 stars Serious page-turner!
Bloodline, like the original Dracula, follows a format of a collection of journals, diaries, and letters told from different characters' point of view. The thing that really made this book incredible is how the story unfolds. In the beginning we have really no ideas of what Harker's real motives are. Later in the story, everything is explain and put together. Once John reaches the castle, many horrific truths are revealed that will astound the reader. As the story progresses, romances between John and Mary occur. Bloodline is a must-read for fans of horror and sci-fi. The plot develops with unexpected twists, and a love story is intertwined with a much darker and horrific side of Bloodline. Bloodline is a new generation of vampire stories and would appeal to middle-school student up to high school, depending on maturity.

4-0 out of 5 stars Gripping
I was gripped, couldn't wait for the story to unfold and had to keep reading. There are love stories entwined with the vivid darker happenings, so there are messages of hope and goodness along with the dark and gory side. The plot develops with some really neat twists, some of which you anticipate, some you don't... ... Read more

Book Review
5-0 out of 5 stars A guilty pleasure...
I read this book for the first time about ten years ago and absolutely loved it! In elementary and middle school, I was an R.L. Stine fanatic. I have read many of his books, and to this day, the "Silent Night" trilogy is my favorite--this one coming in first. I'm 21 years old now and still love this book... During the summer or weekends, I often find myself picking this book up and have probably read it about 15 times now. It's kind of just a comforting (guilty) pleasure that takes me back to my childhood... The story is actually really creative and it's even better to me now because it was written so long ago that the fashions described in the story (and other R.L books) are laugh-out-loud funny. Tapered jeans, "diamond-like studs" in the guys' ears, the whole bit. It's just great! Also, in November and December, it's great to get in the holiday mood! Highly recommended!

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is such a good one!
I have read a few R.L Stine books and I can say this one is probably my favorite.I suggest reading it in November or December so that it will get you in the holiday mood. It's a very easy read with a good ending.I have also read all of the sequels and I really like this one! ... Read more

Have you ever seen your grandma hunting werewolves? Well Red has. In the action packed book: Red Rider's Hood by Neal Shusterman, Red's grandma fights werewolves in New York City. Red feels himself being pulled in by the "Wolves" who are actually a dangerous street gang, by his grandma and the love of his life, Marissa Flowers. Red has to make the decision of his life! 5-0 out of 5 stars A Deep, Difficult, and Absolutely Wonderful Read
This book is a difficult read. It is not easy sailing, though the writing is superb. This book is unconventional to the extreme. There are two confusing points in the book, one of which is the ghost's identity (which sister is it?), and the other is that fact that the ghost is NOT a ghost of a dead person. But you can figure out the ghost's identity fairly quickly if you pick up several obvious clues that many seem to miss, and this book is one of my favorites.
3-0 out of 5 stars Scary Read
Charlotte (Cart), Selina (Sally), Imogen and Fenella Melford had a tugging contest over a rag doll. The doll lost and was ripped into quarters.Cart felt guilty and sewed the doll back together. Then to make it up to Monigan she invented the Worship of Monigan and awakened an ancient goddess whose out for blood.
3-0 out of 5 stars One of her "experimental" books
Although I usually LOVE this author, I thought that this book was sort of weak. The plot could be confusing, and required me to go back and read previous bits all the time.In addition, I found the characters to be a little strange. The sisters act like nasty old adults at the beginning, and I was pretty far into the book before I realized that they were supposed to be kids.By the time I figured it out, I had to go back and re-read the whole thing in order to understand what was going on.Then, suddenly, they WERE adults. The sudden appearance of the occult stuff was a little jarring, too.Read more
