5-0 out of 5 stars The 7 HELPFUL Habits for Teens
This book is great! Teenagers can really relate to this kind of stuff! The book is jam packed with pictures, quotes, and best of all the best advice a teenager could get!5-0 out of 5 stars A College-Student's Review of"7 Habits ... Teens"
* * * * * FIVE STARS! NO DOUBT ABOUT IT! * * * * *Last summer I found this book on my younger brother's desk--a gift to him from our mother. As an eighteen-year-old college student, I thought the writing would be "too young" for me. NOPE! I read the book and it has significantly changed my views of myself, others, and the world. On another note, I liked the book so much that I decided to check out 'the original,' Sean's father's book (7 Habits of ... *people*): the verdict: I personally found the book for Teens a MUCH better read. Sean's writing style is concise and very visual, making it easy to understand, enjoyable, and fun. The anecdotes and stories are universally applicable--despite racial, economic, etc. backgrounds (or even age!).He doesn't waste time getting to the point, taking a single paragraph to introduce a new concept, and then supporting it with two or three stories, anecdotes, or quotations; and yes, there are even pictures too! The end product is something that is VERY enjoyable, practicable, and has helpful. If you have ANY doubts about whether or not to read this book, I would say that if you are even looking into it enough to read this review, you and someone you know can greatly benefit from the ideas in this book. Of course self-change is scary and difficult, but this book makes it fun and easy. It's helped me to not only improve my own life, but also that of my younger brother, guiding me to be a better role model for him. When I first found this book I had made fun of it, but as soon as I had begun reading, I was hooked [or as the book would have me say, "I hooked myself..."] Thanks Sean (and Stephen) for your contribution(s)! [And thanks Mom, too...]: - )

5-0 out of 5 stars A very interesting, and lifechanging book
I have personally read this book, and ( as a 13 year old), it has drasticly changed my life. There are passages in this book that told me things about myself I never knew. Like this " I'f who I am, is what I have, and what I have is lost, who am I ?" I no longer feal that money or impotance should matter in my life. I should live it accourding to my life, and not by the will of others. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars **TEEN READER**BEST BOOK I EVER READ!It is truely AMAZING
I have to say reading the comment above made me pretty sad. This book was not sending mixed messages and it is definately NOT telling you to be popular and that your parents will only love you more if you get good grades. This book is simply about helping yourself become more of what you want and getting more out of the life you were delt with. It makes me so sad to hear bad things about this book becuase that review probably stopped someone from buying this amazing book.
5-0 out of 5 stars shut up!
well.. of course a person like me would have to read what people though before i wrote what i thought! i think that the people that don't like this book need help! why in the world would rich people not have problems!! and there is way more to these people than you think!! just because some of you are shallow and can't use your imagination and have fun with some of the jokes he throws at you doesn't mean you need to get mad!! grow up! there are more people who know that that book was good and i happen to believe strongly in what he wrote!! yes i have money but no i don't have the perfect life promise!! so just because a person has money does not make them unknowledgeable about real life! so think to yourself again maybe you just need to read between the lines or maybe your life was to perfect but i know that this really helped me and i am doing some of the things that he said and it has helped me alot through everything i have been through!!

4-0 out of 5 stars What About Multi-Talented Teens?
It is so great that someone who has grown up with Dr. Phil for a father feels ready to share wisdom from his perspective with teens like himself.I found it much more effective than most books written by adults (who were teens in such different times!)There's one issue teens struggle with, however, that didn't get the attention it deserved: what to do when you love lots of different things but your guidance counselor and parents say you'll eventually have to pick just one. ... ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding book for both parent & child to read.
This book should be a requirement in every home.It is wriiten for a teen but shoul dbe read by both parent and child. The concept of the 40 assets is fundamentally simple. The book defines the assets and then gives adviceon how the adolescent, parent(s), community, school, and congregation canhelp to ensure that a child is brought up with all of the assets they needto be a successful person. It has examples of the successes thatcommunities across the country have had setting the concepts of the assetsinto into motion. The excellence of the book is reinforced by a lecture Iattended by Dr. Benson 2 months ago.The concept of the developmentalassets being the framework for a successful, well-rounded person makesperfect sense. It should be adopted as a National standard.

5-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book for teens and their parents!

4-0 out of 5 stars Teens Can Make It Happen
My motivational book is Teens Can Make it Happen, by Stedman Graham. The book is to tell people how to use their life meaningful and not to waste it. This book really wants the reader to think about what goals and accomplishments you want to achieve. This book is a turn around because it really helps you know what you need to do to get your life on the right track. In Teens Can Make it Happen there are 9 steps that you take to knowing and achieving your goals. People should read this book because it will inspire them to reach their goals according what to what they want to do for the rest of their life. This is a great book.

5-0 out of 5 stars YES TEENS HAVE CHOICES!
I liked this book because the author clearly respects the teens he is addressing. Too often these days references to teens are negative.Or teens life plans are pigeon-holed by an author's implicit assumption that "What do you want to be when you grow up?" has only one answer. From my coaching practice, I have seen that many teens are Renaissance Souls (people who have too many interests to pick just one.) To limit advice to how to pick the one right career path or college or job is to leave them hanging and frustrated. Fortunately Graham's advice does not fall into that trap.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very helpful
I am a high school English teacher and I found the book to be very helpful and motivational for high school students who need to be pointed in the right direction. So many kids need to have a vision and clear goals for themselves and this book helps to guide them in the right direction as well as making the proper choices. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great, even for younger kids!
I have the Indigo Dreams CD which I use in my psychotherapy practice with younger children. Many of them really enjoy the stories and have been helped with calming for bedtime. However I was excited to try using the Indigo Teen Dreams with some of my younger kids who really needed to know how to specifically practice the Relaxation techniques in order to apply them to other times of increased stress. I have been working with two bright 8 year old girls that have loved adding this CD to their options when feeling stressed or having difficulty sleeping.THANKS!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Indigo Teen Dreams: Diversity at it's Best
I am a psychiatric social worker who purchased "Indigo Teen Dreams" for our unit. We have utilized this wonderful CD on a twice weekly basis as part of our relaxation curriculum. We have a very diverse population of adolescents ranging from kids who are moderately depressed or highly anxious to severely behaviorally and emotionally disturbed. This CD has reached teens across the board and given them the initial realization that they do have some control over their bodies and how they choose to respond to situations and stressors. I applaud "Indigo Teen Dreams" CD for its usefulness in everyday life in supporting teens with many diverse needs and challenging issues to find a better way to deal with their stressors.

5-0 out of 5 stars Indigo Teen Dreams- A Wonderful Relaxer
I'm a very tense person by nature and I get anxious easily, which sometimes disturbs my sleep. Recently, I had a difficult time falling asleep because I was worrying about college and such. I put on Indigo Teen Dreams and almost instantly felt more at ease. The visualizations and images are wonderfully relaxing. The meditation really allowed me to focus in on myself and forget the world around me. And the deep breathing track is something that everyone should do, learning how to deep breathe can make a world of a difference, as I found out. I put the CD on my i-pod and listen to it whenever I need to relax. It's made my overall mood better and I'm happy to have found something that makes me feel better. I do a lot of theatre and once the school year starts up, I plan to use the techniques to focus and relax myself before an audition. These techniques I can carry with me and use forever; I would strongly recommend it to any teen, I think everyone can benefit from it. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars very good but not inclusive enough
i picked this up because it's the sort of thing that wasn't available to me when i needed it years ago and i was curious. i'm impressed with the career advice given, although far too many pages are devoted to getting into college. every gifted kid (possibly every kid) is going to be inundated with grades/college stuff without this book. i particularly like that the authors address subjects which can be touchy or entirely skipped over in some environments, such as drinking, drugs, sex, depression and teen suicide.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book
This was truly an excellent book for any teen who is gifted. I've been gifted since I was very young and I've never fit in with any of the other kids. I've always been much more mature and on a much higher level than the rest of the kids my age. This book showed me that I should be proud about being gifted, and shouldn't worry about fitting in. This is a must read for any gifted teen.

However, this companion workbook, besides some chapter summaries, basically has all the fill-in exercises from the book reprinted. I can only think of two or three new activities. 1-0 out of 5 stars Bad Dr., Bad book
I had Ms. Ponton as my therapist when I was 16 (I'm 22 now). She told my mother confidential information about my emotions that led to a lot of fighting and problems in my family. I also found her to be self absorbed and not connected to what people my age were feeling.
2-0 out of 5 stars Focusing on the Negative
What is it these days with authors, and society in general associating teens having sex with pregnancy, STD's and harrasment. Teenagers these days aren't as naive as you think! I know I remember everything essential in those Health classes and what my parents taught me. After learning that every action has a consequence, they should also tell you that it is an enjoyable experience! No wonder half the girls out there are freaked out of their mind when the three letter word is brought up in any conversation!

5-0 out of 5 stars An Indispensable Guide to Adolescent Sexuality
After reading the New York Times January 15th article on Dr. Ponton, I decided to read The Sex Lives of Teenagers: Revealing the Secret World of Adolescent Boys and Girls. I found it to be sensitive, even-handed, and clear. The stories themselves are frank, which may make some readers uncomfortable. However, I felt that this was an honest portrayal of adolescent sexuality, ranging the spectrum of `typical' to extreme. At times touching, at times chilling, and always elucidating, I am very thankful, as a parent, to have discovered Dr. Ponton's work. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Written in a highly accessible and skimmable style
There Is Nothing Wrong With You: For Teens is a spiritual, self-help book written to help not just young people from emotionally abusive backgrounds, but all people who have learned to unfairly and over-harshly criticize themselves. There Is Nothing Wrong With You: For Teens is a positive affirmation of the good people have inside, even if they have grave difficulty in seeing it themselves. The atypical typeface resembles hand-printed lettering, conveying emotion but remaining eminently readable. Enthusiastically recommended and a welcome addition to the growing library self-help literature, There Is Nothing Wrong With You: For Teens is written in a highly accessible and skimmable style, for readers of all attention spans. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Ideal for Guys and Girls
I heard Carol Weston speak a few years ago and a father in the audience
5-0 out of 5 stars A real treasure trove!
I don't care what kind of advice you're looking for -- whether you're trying to fix a romance, a summer job, or a problem at school -- this book has got something helpful to say.Carol Weston herself is terrific -- practical and funny -- but the book also insludes quotes and advice from a lot of other people, too -- famous writers, artists, thinkers. It's a lot better than just hearing your best friend, for the tenth time, tell you the same old things.A definite recommend!

5-0 out of 5 stars I LOVE this book!
FOR TEENS ONLY is so good!... Whenever I get depressed or frustrated, I read a few pages and start feeling better. I guess that's because she seems like a real person (well, obviously she is) and because all the quotes seem to be talking right to me. Mybrother has been reading it too and he doesn't usually read books like this. But her advice make sense and isn't preachy. It's funny and inspiring. I recommend this book to all middle school and high school students. It REALLY explains everything, from how to tell if your crush likes you to when to use "it's" and "its"(which I now finally get)! And if you ever need a quote for a yearbook or paper, it has 580! FOR TEENS ONLY IS A GREAT BOOK!! FIVE STARS AT LEAST!... ... Read more
