5-0 out of 5 stars Great for guys
This book is *the best* book out there for guys in the area of sexual purity. Not too descriptive (which only defeats the purpose) yet real and plain and straight to them. I saw it and got it for my brothers. It's amazing.

I thought your book was really good. With all the stuff that the media is shooting at us, and just being a guy it can be hard to avoid sexual temptations.Your book really helped becuase it seems like no one ever talks about it, and it therefore is hard to avoid the temptations becuase you don't know how and your book just helped give ways to avoid the temptations. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Spark Great Conversation in Your Home!
My 7 and 9 year-old sons love this book.It talks to them about real experiences they have to deal with every day in real life such as losing stuff, games, and confidence. I had thought we would skip the parts that donot apply to our experiences, such as losing a body part or a loved one,but they want to hear it all.We read this book aloud and it generatesgreat family conversation. The boys kept having me renew the library copyI had, so I had to get my own.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lost and Found: A Kid's Book for Living Through Loss
Talks about the good that can counter balance loss in life.It starts with minor loss (things), then pets, friends, (moving, etc.), then death. It says it is good for someone as young as 8 years old, but mine would notlisten to the first chapter. Is has a "lecturing" quality tosomeone less informed. It also makes some good points.Contains black andwhite illustrations.I would recommend this one to students from the 4thgrade up, as well as teachers and parents. ... A wonderful book for children and adults interested in Hinduism. The illustrations are spectacular. Even though the story is from an ancient time the lessons learned are about life and showcase the importance of a mothers love for her child, a theme that will cross all language barriers.

Editorial Review

Anyone who loves the humorous but hair-raising horror in R.L. Stine'sGoosebumps series will devour British author Darren Shan's first novel withequal zeal. Some books are born with a surrounding buzz; this one even has HarryPotter creator J.K. Rowling's stamp of approval: "Fast-paced and compelling, full of satisfying macabre touches," she writes. Warner Brothers will be makingit into a movie, and the rest of the series is already in the works. Given allthat, you'd expect a tour de force! Really, though, Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A living nightmare of fun
This book was way better than 5 stars. I thought this would be just another boring book that my friend told me about but man it was great! I dont know how i never read it before. This book doesn't even start out slow its moving the whole time at a very fast pace. Multiple times I thought something, but the book went completly the other way. I could'nt put it down, and usually I dont like these books but, I loved it. I even liked the horror parts. For all those who havent liked any of the books youve read, ever, try this one. You'll be begging for more.

4-0 out of 5 stars Cirque Du Freak
A thirteen year-old boy trapped forever by an"evil" vampire and it's impossible for him to escape because he is one of them. Cirque Du Freak is a fictional story about a group of friends that have their lives changed forever. Two of them go to a circus, only to have something extraordinary, yet scary, happen to them. The two friends would be forever split because of this one unfortunate incident. The author is primarily concerned with the group of friends and them splitting them up. I would definitely recommend this book to people toward the teenage years, although adults may enjoy it to.

4-0 out of 5 stars ***You Should Really Read This Book***
The book, The Girls is so good!If you like "friendship" type stories this is the one for you.It explains what girls our age are going through and how to recover. This girl named Darcy is having a sleepover and doesn't invite Maya and Maya gets upset. On that same morning, Maya called and asked if Candace wanted to go to Six Flags Magic Mountain with her, but she said that she couldn't go because of personal reasons. So that is how it (the "fight") started. The girls have a little "group" and Candace is in charge of it. So whenever she wants someone out of the group, she kicks them out.I really enjoyed this book.I would recommend it to the girls that have had or are going through bad times. It could possibly help you.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best books ever!
This book was so good. It was kinda suspenseful in a way because you just don't know what is going to happen next(it's not predictable.) It is a page-turner because you just can't stop reading it, you just want to know what happens page after page.Every girl should love this book, it is about something that might happen in life, you get kicked out of a group and feels like Maya(the girl in the book that gets kicked out of a group that she has been in awhile with Candace,Brianna,Renee, and Darcy.) You should REALLY buy this book and read it!!!!!!!!!!! Hope this was helpful.

4-0 out of 5 stars Hey You Need To Read This!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The book The Girls deals with a lot of problems girls face today.I had no problem relating to the book. In the book there are four girls. Candece being the most popular girl in the group. If she wants someone out of the group then some one gets kicked out of the group. and that is what happens. Candece kickes out Maya, and she doesn't know why... so if you wanna find out then you will have to read........and girls who read this will have no problem relating to this because I'm sure this has happend to them or they have watched it happen....so if you like these kind of books then this is a very good book to read. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars The best guide for single moms (5 stars, even tho I can't edit it to show them!)
I got this book for my son when we got to the point that he had so many questions (technical in nature) that I couldn't remember the exact answer to (or don't know, not being a boy). I turned to my male friends for help, and one recommended "The Guy Book," which he had given to his5 boys and they liked a lot. My son lovedit. It has a lot of info on boys, their bodies, their issues with friends, and such necessary details as how to buy a corsage and tie a tie. My son asked intelligent questions, sparked by the book, and has read bits of it over and over.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Teen Reference book...
I enjoyed this book and I'm a grown man. lol. It presents the information in a very non threatening way for teens and fathers of teens about the "sex" questions. Fun read!

5-0 out of 5 stars Uses Great 50's Car Photos -- A Great Book for Dads to Use
This is "THE BOOK" for Dads to review with their sons. The author successfully uses "car talk" to explain becoming a man.Clever chapter titles include: "Under the Hood: Parts," "The Ignition System: How It All works,""Road Hazards: STD," "Maintenance," etc. I got a kick out of discussing the old retro-car photos with my sons. The funny retro-pictures kept the topic from getting uncomfortable and gave us guys something else to talk about other than sex ... when things got a little too uncomfortable. My sons reread to certain often.Definitely buy ............................................. 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!
I love this book, I wish every single Christian Woman could buy this book. It is well worth it! :)

5-0 out of 5 stars God's gift!
Although I am not under 13, I am still seen as a child to others. I am still a teenager (17 yrs old) and although I havent been pressured into sex, many of my friends have lost their virginity and now, are regretting it. Unfortunately these days, movies, songs and other books exemplify sex as something that is just given away to anyone. "Gift-wrapped By God" does the opposite of that, and basically tells you that everything He has given you is a gift and to put thought into using these gifts. This book just reassured everything that I have been waiting for and that my purity is one of the many gifts that I have been so blessed to receive from God. Every teenage girl should read this! And what the heck, give teenage boys some insight and have them read it as well so that the pressure to have sex and "fit in" doesnt need to be there anymore. If more teenagers these days actually read this book, there wouldnt be as many meaningless, drunken, one-nighters and immature boys may actually grow up a little faster and realize that everyones virginity is a gift from God!

5-0 out of 5 stars An Unwrapped Gift
For such a long time, I have hunted and searched for a book about virginity and the purpose(s) behind it. Just about all Christian single books were about dating. Gift-wrapped by God is an excellent book for women (and men). The book talks about the reasons God intends for us singles to keep our virginity. In a world where having sex in or outside of marriage is the majority, those who are not having sex feel outcasted and often contemplate if refraining from sex is worth it. I AM HERE TO TELL YOU THAT IT IS. It is not just about giving yourself physically to your future spouse but it is about giving your unindivided attention, your total self to God. Refraining from sex is your worship to God. The book even talks about renewing your life back to God if the gift has been unwrapped. There are several study questions, poems, scriptures, and life stories to encourage singles to continue the path of purity. I recommend this book to every single. Every single should find out about his/her gift wrapper, for we are all gifts from God. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Meeker is out of touch with reality.
I have read Meeker's book, and find it totally devoid of factual information or a sex-positive approach. It is the same old "just say no" approach, which is never going to click with today's teenagers. Like Josh McDowell and Pam Stenzel, she is irresponsible in not telling the truth about sex. Forget her.

1-0 out of 5 stars not worth the paper it's printed on
As an epidemiologist with a PhD, and a focus on adolescent health, I found this book terrible.Dr. Meeker states things that are simply WRONG and have been shown in scientific literature.Specifically on page 146 she says that "the risk of contracting and STD through oral is extremely high." At the time of publication of her book, this was NOT shown.Since that time, the most definitive study shows that there is no risk: del Romero J, Marincovich B, Castilla J, Garcia S, Campo J, Hernando V, et al. Evaluating the risk of HIV transmission through unprotected orogenital sex. AIDS 2002;16(9):1296-7.
4-0 out of 5 stars How Teen Sex Is Killing Our Kids
If all the teenagers in the world read this book, there would have been a sea change in their attitude towards their no-holds-barred sexual revolution. Earlier there wereonly two diseases syphilis and gonorrhoea and now there is more than a 100 and they are increasing at an extremely fearful pace. Many of these have no remedies so far and the people getting killed by these diseases are increasing on a daily basis.

chicken soup for the teenage soul letters is a book that has a lot of volumes. i really liked this book because it was very interesting. some of the stories were really sad and some of them were really happy.some people would talk about how their life was really bad and how they didn't want to live on this earth anymore and some were really happy love stories. this book was a book talking about real people and real things that happen to kids in their teenage year. when i read this i didn't get bored because it was very eye catching. it's like when you start reading it you just can't stop.

I often wonder if other people have the same response to something that I read. This book lets me know that people do.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Review
Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul: Letters is a collective book of responses to the first three novels of Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul. Each story is just as heart warming as the stories in the original book, but this time the stories are ones that occurred due to the previous books in the series. Each story delivers a heart felt lesson of an "oh well, I guess that my life isn't that bad after all, " or a "maybe I should change my life too". Many of the writers were going through times when they thought suicide was the best option or that there was no option at all, each writer then expressed their own reaction to the book and how their life was changed and put back on the right track. Within the contents of the book, I found some truly amazing and uplifting stories; one was about a girl suffering from the loss of her only sister and how each section of the book brought her to overcome her devastating reality. Another was about a girl who got copies of the book for the grieving students at Columbine. Each story was compelling, up lifting, and really let me see what living is all about.Read more

As an intern during graduate school, I worked with girls who had experienced sexual abuse/incest. In my attempt to read every book on the topic, I found Invisible Girls. I couldn't stop talking about it. I wanted all of my peers and colleagues to read it as well. This book is beginning to help me define my professional career path.

5-0 out of 5 stars Superb resource for all - survivors and professionals
An excellent and invaluable resource to all who have been touched in any way by sexual abuse: this book is compassionate, insightful and healing in its portrayal and treatment of sexual abuse of children, adolescents and young women. The real-life experiences are presented in a way that is sensitive, thoughtful and wise. They will resonate with the experience of most anyone who has suffered the affliction and trauma of sexual abuse.

5-0 out of 5 stars closing future gaps
The bad news is that for myself and my own teenagers this book came a little late...about 10 years. The good news is that for my now adult children and my soon to be 8 grandchildren you can never start to early to prepare yourself and your kids for those teenage years.I bought 5 copies of Closing the Gap.I originally bought one to give to my younger brother who's daughter is in the midst of teenage years-15.He started asking me what I had done when my kids were going through the insanity.I was flattered he valued my opinion until I gave it and he said "Thanks, now at least I know what not to do."I took it as a joke, but truth be told, I had made a mistake or 12.I bought him the book so he would have a clue of what was the 'right' thing to do.I didn't intend to read it(teenagers???been there, done that, don't want to go back), but picked it up one night out of boredom, expecting to get a laugh or two out of some old memories and a chuckle over my brothers reactions to what I thought would be the 'experts' advice.I did get a chuckle, but I also got a surprise...I wished I could of had that book way before my kids became teens. 1-0 out of 5 stars Rubbish
Jay McGraw is obviously just trying to ride his father's coat tails, unfortunately, he possesses none of the talent or skill his father does.If you want to read a patronizing, annoying account of teen life, this is the book for you! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent for Kids
I have a 13 year old boy that has had trouble with behaviors for years. This book helps him understand that he is not the only one and talks to him in a way he can understand. We usually sit down and discuss his answers and this helps him stay focused. It also helps bring us closer together and opens the lines of communication.
