Sharon Creech has become a favorite author of my 10-yr old.Starting with "Walk Two Moons", he has become a better reader, finding content inMs. Creech's books that keep him interested. After completing the first book, I made it a point to purchase the rest of her volumes to keep him on the 'reading path'.

5-0 out of 5 stars A 1-day read!
I was at my usual trip to the library, shuffling through the books, and this book caught my eye. I picked it up, and read the inside, which honestly, I think was lamely put. Well, I took the book home and started to read it. By the third chapter, I was hooked. It was interesting, and what really was neat to me, was how it sounded like an actual 13 year old was telling the story!
1-0 out of 5 stars A waste of time
I read this book for school a while ago, and from the moment I started I knew that it was going to be a long, long, long read. The characters in the book were a bunch of annoying brats that seemed far too full of themselves to actually exist. The plot was also terriable for the fact that it was almost as if there wasn't one. A girl goes looking for her mother (which the outcome is clearly easy to spot since the book puts too much of it's time on the buildup of"Whats going to happen?")
5-0 out of 5 stars Simply put: Beautiful.
This book is truly one the best that I have ever had the privilege to read. It flows from one chapter tot he next, never skipping a beat, with vibrant characters that I can certainly identify with: the irritating friend, the homey grandparents, etc.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love That Dog- Excellent!
A terrific book to teach kids, especially boys, about poetry and writing. A wonderful place to start. As a teacher I find this to be a book that everyone enjoys. Great for students up into their teens.

3-0 out of 5 stars POEMS
If you want a spectacular book this isn't quit for you. I didnt love this book because it is written in poetry and most of the parts are dull and boring. But it can Also be sad at times. When You think of Love That Dog would you think that it would be mostly about a dog but only half of the book talks about a dog and the other half talks about poems. So I guess this book is half and half but if you like battles and things like, once again this book isn't for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Taylor age 12
Love that dog was the best book ever! It was written in poetry. When i read it, it really talked about Jack and his life and what he likes to do. When you read the book, trust me you will cry with amotions. If you love dogs and like good and adventure books than read love that dog. I would also suggest to read other books of Sharon Creeches. She is a great author and she really brings out the charocters and expreses there omotions and feelings. 5-0 out of 5 stars Soup? Did someone say soup!!
Just a few chapters of Granny Torrelli Makes Soup By Sharon Creech and you will fall in love with it right then and now. I love it I give it a 10-10, because it's the best book ever. (Grades5-7) and (Ages8-10).
5-0 out of 5 stars Granny Torrelli Makes Soup (and she'll make you laugh, too!)
If you're looking for a quick read that will make you feel good inside, I have the perfect book for you: Granny Torrelli Makes Soup by Sharon Creech.
3-0 out of 5 stars Secret Recipe
I would recommend Granny Torrelli Makes Soup to someone who enjoys books that deal with life, friendship and especially soup. I think that the protagonist Rosie is jealous because Bailey who is blind, gets all the attention. I thought that this book was okay because I couldn't understand some of the words. The author of this book is Sharon Creech. Another book I will probably read by this author is, Absolutely Normal Chaos.

Editorial Review

Sharon Creech explores the hopes and longings of an introspective middle child from a boisterous Italian clan in this humorous, character-driven novel. Leo's family calls him "Sardine" because the quiet twelve year old often finds himself sandwiched between his more outgoing siblings. One rainy day in the attic, he discovers his father's teenage journal. In it, he reads that his careworn parent used to dream of being a dancer, a writer, a famous athlete, just like Leo! He also discovers a photo of his father's family that includes an unfamiliar girl in the background. Could it be the mysterious Aunt Rosaria no one speaks of? As he tries to untangle this family mystery, he is also preparing for his school play--a tale of an old man whose life is revived by weaving his childhood memories into stories for his neighbors. How can Leo convince his father that, like the old man in the play, he needs to talk about Rosaria to heal the hole she left in his life? Through the parallel dramas of the play and his chaotic home life, Leo begins to understand the importance of stories and our need to share them, whether they are treasured memories or future dreams. Creech includes the full text of the play, Read more

No one could ever hate Sharon Creech's books. They're the best in the world!

3-0 out of 5 stars Not the best...
The main thing I didn't like was the sentences. Mostly every sentence was 'Leo said', 'Leo did', basicaly, it was choppy at best.
4-0 out of 5 stars the book about a boy
Replay is a very entertaining book to read. this bok is mainly about a young boy "Leo" that is trying out for the school play and is hopeing to get the leadpart of rumpopo. instead he got the part of the old crone(old lady). Leo does not want to be an old lady in his schoolplay. but one day he was rooting around up in his attic and he finds his dads journal from when he was a kid.

Having suffered through a string of appalling foster homes (the spittingCranbepps; scary, toothless Mr. Dreep who locked them in his cellar; and themean Burgerton boys), 13-year-old orphan Dallas and his twin sister, Florida, have pretty much given up on ever finding a happy home. So when an eccentricolder couple enters their lives, providing such adventures as a riverexpedition, a treasure hunt (of sorts), and a whole lot of remarkable meals:"beat-the-blues broccoli," "anti-cranky crumpets," and "getting-used-to-kids- again stew," the twins take a while to warm up. Florida's language teems withoutrageous, telling negativity--everything is "putrid"--and even dreamy Dallasis inclined to bouts of doubt. But warm up they do, to the continual delight ofreaders of all ages.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Ruby Holler
The book called Ruby Holler is a very good book, and it makes you want to keep reading. The plot is about two 13-year-old "trouble twins" named Dallas and Florida. They have been bouncing around from foster home to foster home. They have been living with Mr. and Mrs. Trepid--their mean foster parents. One day an older couple named Tiller and Sairy came to the Home. They decided to take Florida and Dallas to their home in beautiful Ruby Holler.
5-0 out of 5 stars Ruby Holler
Dallas and Florida, twin orphans, lived at the Boxton Creek Home most of their lives except for a few scarey foster homes. Now they are at a home in beautiful Ruby Holler with some verv nice foster parents named Tiller and Sairy who take them on amazing adventures! Kelsy, age 10.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a book that you'll enjoy while you're reading it, and feel good about afterward
Ruby Holler is the story of "the trouble twins", 13-year-old Dallas and Florida, who have spent their lives living in the dilapidated Boxton Creek Home. They've had many failed foster parent experiences, some terrifying, some grim, and they are very wary of adults. They remind me a bit of Tony and Tia Malone in Escape to Witch Mountain (another pair of twins who seem unable to keep out of trouble, and who no one seems to want).

5-0 out of 5 stars Funny Book
This book is really funny from a teacher's point of view. I plan on reading it the first day of school to a group of third graders. It's a great way to promote your school.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Fine, Fine School
This is an excellent book.Especially in light of our demands on schools these days...with testing...the amount of information we are req'd to cover...the amount of material students are expected to know etc. This story really brings us back to the basics of living life and enjoying each day.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fine as fish hair
The pairing of children's author superstar Sharon Creech (Newbery winner "Walk Two Moons" anyone?) and New Yorker cartoonist Harry Bliss (the modern equivalent of Margaret Bloy Graham of "Harry the Dirty Dog" fame) was not an intuitive one.It was not a given that these two wunderkinds would find one another and produce, for the world, "A Fine, Fine School".It was even less of a given that the book would turn out to be as good as it was. It's just nice that it worked out that way.

5-0 out of 5 stars Summer stories {By Micah age 11}
I LOVED this book! I read Walk Two Moons and I really liked it, but I ah-dored this one! It had lots of funny dialogue and a lot of girls can relate to it. Absolutely Normal Chaos is about a girl named Mary Lou Finney, whose cousin Carl Ray comes to stay for the summer. This story involves family secrets, love (with a certain boy named Alex who decided to hang around Mary Lou's side of town) and about friend conflicts (best friend, boy crazy Beth Ann goes a bit cuckoo this summer) and about adventure. I l-o-v-e-d it!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very intersting book!
This might be on my top 5 best books Iv'e ever read. This is about a girl named Mary Lou Finney that has to keep and record a journal over the summer. But the thing that she didn't know that all the intersting things would happen that summer. She got carried away, that she wrote 6 journals. Some of the things that are intersting are that her cousin Carl Ray (boring cousin) comes down to stay at their house. But at their suprise Carl Ray was hiding something and Mary Lou has to figure out. And her friend Beth Ann thats crazy over boys. Then she goes over to Carl Ray's house in West Virginia which doesn't have electricity or plumbing. She has a very fun adventure when she goes there. This book I thought was much better then "Walk Two Moons". This had much more action than Walk Two Moons. This book was very funny at times and this book had drama and fighting. It had most of all genres. I would reccommend this book to anyone. It was a great book!! Ü

4-0 out of 5 stars Entertaining and Enjoyable

4-0 out of 5 stars Fine, but not Creech's best
A favorite YA author of this reader since picking up her terrific Walk Two Moons, this is the third or fourth of hers I've read. It's a short, sweet book, but what makes it sweet also makes it not easy to understand. That's by design.A boy is visited by ghosts. The one this story focuses on is his uncle, not his first choice of ghosts since his father passed away not long ago.Anyway, the ghost uncle had a stroke before dying and has not overcome the barriers of expressing himself since joining the hereafter. He has quirky speech, consistent, but only to himself, and slowly to his nephew. It is a paradox for the reader, too. What DID he mean by that? The nephew takes on helping the uncle with three requests. He also deals with a bully who has his own issues, and the deceased uncle's wife, who has a new romantic interestIt's good, pleasant, and I'd recommend it, but it's a far cry from Walk Two Moons' wonderfulness.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Real Pleaser!
The book I'm reviewing is Pleasing the Ghost written by Sharon Creech. I gave this book five stars because it is terrific. This book is about a boy who is always seeing ghosts in his bedroom. Then one day his Uncle Arrive, who is dead, comes into his room. What do you think will happen? A problem in this story is that Uncle Arrive's wife that is alive is dating another man and Uncle Arrive gets really mad. I recommend this book to people who love Sharon Creech books. Other books that Sharon Creech wrote are Ruby Holler and Granny Torrelli Makes Soup.
4-0 out of 5 stars a great story
Pleasing the Ghost is a good book!It is about this little boy that can see and talk to ghosts'!His uncle died and has come to visit him in his ghost form and wants Dennis to do three favors for him.To find out these three favors help his wife, you will have to read the book!

Always the quiet (and often forgotten) middle child in a bustling family, Zinnia's life begins to change when she stumbles upon a hidden, overgrown pathway that stretches from the edge of her family's farm into the great unknown. Determined to find where the path leads, Zinnia begins the daunting task of uncovering brambles and weeds along every inch of its length. In powerful, honest, down-home prose, Newbery-winner Sharon Creech delivers a dazzling portrait of a girl who's not afraid to journey into her family's mysterious past in order to find her own way into adulthood. 4-0 out of 5 stars Family, changes, and life in general to a warm young woman
Set in Kentucky like several of her other books, this is the story of an extended family living in a duplex of sorts on the family land.Zinny Taylor, the thirteen year old daughter of one of the two families is the story's first-person teller. She tells us of her own family and that of her neighboring uncle and aunt. The aunt and uncle lost their only child, a daughter the same age as Zinny, as a toddler.Zinny herself is from a brood of some half dozen siblings but is the one closest to the uncle and aunt.Zinny sets the task for herself of clearing a long-overgrown path that runs from behind her home to a town nearby. She is emotionally working through that beloved aunt's passing away, but also through what may be her first bit of genuine romantic interest from a fellow who has returned to town.In some ways this is the story of Zinny's going through grieving. But it is also a tale of a loving family told in realistic ways through the voice of a realistic main character.Another fine work from a favorite YA author. If you like this one, Walk Two Moons is even better, and just as good are Absolutely Normal Chaos and The Wanderer.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
I bought this book for my younger children (ages 4 and 7) and have tried several times to read it to them.Unfortunately, it simply does not hold their attention.I agree with the other reviewer that the illustrations undermine the impact of a nice little story. While I think the illustrations are somewhat interesting, my children cannot see what I am reading in the confusing and disjointed images. They quickly become bored (an unusual reaction for them).

4-0 out of 5 stars THE JOY OF CHILDHOOD!
Instead of "time outs", spending more time with your children, is the focus of this book. In it, a father and son bond by going fishing together. Out in the peaceful solitude of this natural setting theycatchfish, andlet their imaginations soar as they cast their lines into shimmering water. Lovely paintings highlightthis charming story.Much like"Where Do Balloons Go?", by Jaime Lee Curtis, "Guardian Angels" by Naomi Judd, and "A Boy's Summer:Father and Son Together", by Gerry Spence. All four books are delightful and stir memories of the joy and simplicity of childhood. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Love this book
I borrowed this book from a local library and fell in love with the short rhymes which are so sweet. My 8 month old son is enchanted when I read to him from this book at bedtime. I definitely want to buy my own copy for my son's personal library.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sweet and endearing.
This is a beautifully illustrated book of poems, and my 26 mo old daughter loves them and really is enjoying me reading them to her every night before bed. It is a wonderful book for both adults and children.

5-0 out of 5 stars 'Read it again,' laughs my daughter
Our four-year-old daughter loves this book, and so do we. My wife is an early childhood specialist, and was once the head of the children's book department at a major independent bookstore, so she has seen MANY children's books.I teach illustration at two colleges, so I have seen a LOT of children's book art. We both agree author Sharon Creech and illustrator David Diaz have cooked up something really special with 'Who's That Baby?'.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bloomabilityby:Sharon Creech
Dinni's family have always moved around "The States" because their father has always been searching for a new job. Her family is her mother and father and her older brother Crick and older sister Stella. When ever they would move to a new place Crick would always find himself bad friends and get into trouble with them and Stella would always be chased by boys. Finaly one day Dinni's aunt and uncle take her to live in Switzerland with them. Dinni's uncle was a school's headmaster, and that was the school Dinni had to go to. In the school there were lots of different groups of people, like japanese and chineses and italian. There Dinni didn't feel like she was an outcast because everyone else was different just like her.

2-0 out of 5 stars It Lost Me
I picked up this book expecting a story about a mature teenager who is trying to find her "bloomabilities". But I think i had the wrong expectations. This book lost me within the first 50or so pages. There were too many characters and i felt the story moved too quickly. I just don't think this was the book for me, but younger teens will probably like it better than i did. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars It's Wonderful!
