3-0 out of 5 stars a bit disappointed
I have loved everything I have read by Atwater-Rhodes in the past, which is just about everything she has ever written.Unfortunately, I found this book a bit wanting. She did have a great twist on the story, and I am not talking about the romance part, that was pretty obvious.More along the line of the magic. What didn't do it for me was the herione.I found her lacking. She just didn't seem worthy of all that worship, friendship, and love she received from every living soul she encounter.Atwater-Rhodes gave no reason for this blind faith in this character.Just what made her so special?
4-0 out of 5 stars Good book (INCLUDES SPOILERS)
SPOILER ALERT
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent - Quenched My Thrist For More Interesting Shapeshifters to Read About!
I have read all of Amelia's books - Snakecharm, then Hawksong being my favorites. Falcondance dissapointed me only because I got one little taste of the characters I was REALLY interested in - Sive, Salem, and especially Oliza - before I was whisked off to Ahnmik with Nicias, whose character I found less interesting than the others.

3-0 out of 5 stars Snakecharm
I was told Snakecharm wasn't as good as Hawksong, the first novel in Atwater-Rhodes' series of shapeshifting snakes and birds, but I was drawn back to the complex world of the avians and serpentiene anyway. I was recommended correctly- Snakecharm pales beside Hawksong, but I'm still glad I continued on anyway, if only to learn more about the world I'd begun to read about in the first volume.
3-0 out of 5 stars Fluffy . . . but not without merit
This is not the best book ever and it is not as good as the first book in the series, which was itself a little flat. However, the characters are interesting even if the plot is a little thin and not intense or scary. If you read the first book go ahead and read this book to see whats happening.

1-0 out of 5 stars Limp "Snakecharm"
After several immature fantasy novels, Amelia Atwater-Rhodes takes a strike at a more serious kind of story. Unfortunately, "Snakecharm" falls just as flat on its face as her previous books, although in entirely different ways. It has promise for the future, but the most interesting person in the entire book is Zane's infant nephew.

3-0 out of 5 stars Lost It...but yet decent
It was a good book and all, but she lost it at Hawksong I mean I still wanted to know more from Demon In My View.

5-0 out of 5 stars I loved this book!
This book, like many by Atwater-Rhodes, was a really awesome book. It was a fantastic read. It had a very good plot, and was hard for me to put down.

4-0 out of 5 stars Snakecharm: Second of the series
This book overall was good. I got it recently after reading the first one from the library at school (for a book report) and I instantly fell inlove with that one (first one called Hawksong).

Editorial Review

Three-hundred-year-old Risika looks darn good for her age. Thanks toher "blood mother," a vampire named Ather who turned Risika (nee Rachel) into one of the undead back in 1684, she will always look as fresh as a 17-year-old. Now Risika is a world weary night stalker who sleeps in Concord, Massachusetts, by day and prowls New York City by night, in search of fresh blood to slake her inhuman thirst. One of the benefits of living such a long life has been discovering that most of the popular myths about vampires are not true: "Holy water and crosses do not bother me... and silver does not burn me. If someone hammered a stake through my heart, I suppose I would die, but I do not play with humans, stakes or mallets." In fact, there is little in the mortal world that surprises Risika anymore, until she returns from a hunt one night to find a black rose on her pillow--the same flower she was given on the eve of her mortal death. Knowing that the rose is a taunt from Aubrey, a vampire she believes murdered her human brother, Risika decides to confront her nemesis. In a bloody battle with Aubrey, Risika finally unearths her brother's true fate.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars good book.
My sister told me to read this book and I didn't know what it was about or what to expect.
5-0 out of 5 stars A very action packed vampire story
Midnight Predator is a magnificent book that captures the reader in to another world. I found that it is very interesting story that kept me enchanted in till the very last page. I don't think this book disserved only 3 1/2 but disserved 5. This is a wonderful read for teens that enjoy dark stories like my self. I would recommend this book to every one and any one.

4-0 out of 5 stars A midnight triller
Midnight Predator is one of my favorite stories. It is one of Amelia's best works, I think so at least. This book was thrilling. I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in vampires and slave trades. I love the girl that was once a slave to a vampire and then when she gets free she sells herself back into Midnight, the place where the slave trade of humans mostly takes place.

Editorial Review

The teen queen of horror fiction Amelia Atwater-Rhodes is on the prowl again! Continuing in much the same vampire vein that established her reputation, the young writer's sophomore novel also includes a touch of autobiography. Jessica Allodola is a high school senior who pens vampire tales under the pseudonym Ash Night. (Hmmm, sound familiar?) Because of her funereal clothing and cynical demeanor, Jessica is shunned by her sunnier classmates. No matter, she prefers the company of the undead she creates on her laptop, anyway. But Jessica is shaken when a creature from her novel, the suave vampire Aubrey (who fans will remember from Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Demon in my view
Jessica's story ideas come to her in dreams. She dreams of vampires: how they're changed, their fights, their love, even their secret hide out. She doesn't really believe in vampires. She doesn't know that her dreams are all real. But the vampires do and they're ticked. Aubrey is sent to kill her but he just cant. So Fala gives him a choice: kill her or change her.

3-0 out of 5 stars Detail but not depth...
Detail but not depth. That is exactly the phrase that came into my mind as I finished reading 'Demon in my View'. I know some people are being forgiving because of the age of the author, 15 at the time, but age really is no excuse. Being a 16 year old myself and also a writer I have no problem pointing out the washed-out plotline Rhodes portrays.
5-0 out of 5 stars Inspiring book for Young Writers
Wow this book is really amazing. Amelia Atwater-Rhodes was only 13 when she wrote demon on my view and did a fantastic job. You could really tell she worked very hard on it. This book is excellent and will enchant you till the very end.

5-0 out of 5 stars amazing book!!!!!!!!!!
This book and its sequels are to die for!! the differences between Danica and Zane are what drizes you to keep reading and see what happens. read this book and you'll never put it down. i myself am reading it for a 3rd time!!! don't forget the sequels!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Hawksong
Here's a book with a truly intriguing set-up, but with a fairly predictable plot. If you stripped Hawksong of its shapeshifting characters and carefully and wonderfully built background, it would be basic and lose everything that makes it a great read.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
It is a good story to read, be careful, you might just like cobras.

5-0 out of 5 stars my review
I completely love Amelia Atwater-Rhodes writing. I can read her books over and over because I'm so drawn into the imaginative world. The contueing story of the world of shapeshifters keeps me asking for what going to happen next. In her writing we get to enter a world unlike our own but yet in some ways like it. It's hard to finish one book and have to wait for the next to find out what happens next but it's worth the wait.

3-0 out of 5 stars Third in the Series
Falcondance is the third book in The Kiesha'ra Series. Amelia Atwater-Rhodes is the child prodigy who wrote In the Forests of the Night at the age of thirteen.
5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Book!
This was a very good book, too! In this book, some loose ends from the first two are tied up, and it explains quite a bit. I really enjoyed the suprise at the end. I would definately recommend this book, but with fair warning to read the first two before reading this one. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't fly
Amelia Atwater-Rhodes at her best is mediocre, and "Hawksong" is probably her best book thus far. Having temporarily abandoned her melodramatic vampires, Atwater-Rhodes draws on the most popular works of Shakespeare and Laurell K. Hamilton. The result flies as well as a snake.

5-0 out of 5 stars One oe the best books I ve erer read
This book had me turning pages in exitment and horror wondering what was going to happen next and hears why...
4-0 out of 5 stars A Tale with Bite
Stories of vampires have always fascinated me.Stories of twins have also always fascinated me.Therefore the story Shattered Mirror was a tale I could sink my teeth into (please pardon the pun). This book follows the quest of witch/vampire hunter, Sarah Vida, for the reviled vampire, Nikolas. What Sarah finds are two "weak" vampires, a brother and sister, at the high school she has newly started attending.Despite her own reservations, and the constant warnings of her family, Sarah befriends the vampires.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great!
Love, love, love this book. Amelia is amazing with this book. HIGHLY recomend this one and Demon in my view and Midnight Predator. Fabulous. Read it. You wont regret it. If you've read and liked Twilight or Blood and Chocolate, trust me, you'll like these!
